About a month ago I bought an old Forrest Service pickup truck -- site unseen and 400 miles or so…read moreaway in Central Idaho (I live in Portland, Oregon). I figured the easiest (reasonably affordable) way to get the (very large) truck home would be to find a good auto service/repair shop nearby, have them get it roadworthy, then drive it home. Lewiston seemed to be the closest town of size to have some choices for repair shops, and seeing review on an online map (that starts with a G and almost rhymes with Bugle) the several reviews for Luper Automotive were all positive. Note: I usually go to Yelp! for reviews, but there were only two at the time). I gave Luper Auto a call a week before heading to get the truck and talked to Dawn -- a service manager -- who welcomed the business, and was very helpful throughout this adventure. After dealing with the logistics of getting the truck to Luper Auto, I returned home and left the truck with them for a couple of weeks, and although our business was conducted remotely -- phone calls, voicemails and emails -- I always felt that Dawn was by my side. They recommended a few minor and one somewhat major repair to make it roadworthy -- all at reasonably priced parts & labor -- and helped facilitate getting some odd-sized tires installed and a last minute add-on that I requested when I returned to drive it home. Unforeseeable, and unrelated to their work, the truck broke down the evening I picked it up and was heading back home -- about 30 miles away and after hours. I had it towed back to Luper Automotive -- dreading the thought of needing a new transmission, or at least some major transmission repair. Luper Automotive could easily have suggested those and I would have paid -- but it turned out to be a minor issue. They had a service technician in early the next day, fixed my truck, and I was back on the road (and made it all the way home without issue). All-in-all, it was a great experience to work with the fine people at Luper Automotive. They were straight forward and honest about what I needed (and didn't need) to have done. They did good work, charged fair prices, then went beyond the call of duty to expedite work so I could get back on the road and stick to my travel plans. Woo hoo! My only regret is they are 348 miles from home -- a little too far to make them my regular shop, but if YOU live (or break down) anywhere near Lewiston, I highly recommend bringing your auto/truck service, maintenance and/or repair work to them.

I just had to write this review to let people know how well I was treated…read more It was Christmas Eve around 2:45 pm. I discovered there is something crazy going on with my wheels or brakes. Every time I had my car serviced in the last few months by other businesses I was told my brakes were in great shape. But then I start hearing the dreaded grinding sound of metal on metal. We are planning on driving to Boise on Christmas Day. I called into Les Schwab and the reception person said they could look at my car even though they were closing at 3 pm because it's Christmas Eve. I drive into their business lot at 3 pm. Gary and another guy met me outside and looked under the hood. They said I didn't need brake fluid. So Gary offered to drive my car so he could hear what I was hearing. When he got back, he said he wanted to check my wheel, right front to see what was going on. They took the wheel off and inspected it. Turns out there was something wrong with the brake caliper causing uneven wear on the pads. Turns out the brake pad on the outside, which is what everyone was looking at, was completely intact and the inside was complete worn down. Hence , the metal in metal grinding sound. Then he checked the other front wheel. The same thing is happening on that wheel with some of the inside brake pad still there. He told all the others guys working there they could go home. He then advised we not drive that car to Boise as it wasn't safe. The thing I wanted to make sure people knew was that I greatly appreciated Gary taking the extra time after closing time (especially on Christmas Eve) to diagnose my problem. He said he was not sure he could replace my brakes ( I have a Mini Cooper ( no dealer or service in town). But he could do his best with mini parts. Then he recommended another auto repair shop who he thought might be better suited to my needs. What a great guy! He helped me even though he thought he might not be getting my business.

She works in the central mountains with no cell service during the week and was really concerned about getting new tires for her truck with her being gone. So she called dad (me) in a panic. I called Gill's to see if they could get her in quickly and diagnose the problem. They got her in, in about 15 minutes. We needed to get new tires anyway, so we got some on order. It took a day or two to get the specific tires we wanted in as it didn't matter. My daughter would be out of town in a state truck. She was due back on Friday. Thursday afternoon I got a call saying there was a mix up at the warehouse. They sent 4 tires but one was a different size. I started figuring out how to get up there to help my daughter out but Kerry Betts stepped in. He sent a truck from Lewiston all the way down to Boise (5-1/2 hours) to get the right size tire to make sure my daughter had something to drive when she got back in from the field. I a world where it seems like people don't seem to care as much for others as they used to, it was very refreshing to see this. Thanks to the team at Gill's Point S and especially Mr. Kerry Betts for taking care of my kids! When I need new tires for my trucks down here, I'll be driving up from Boise to get them! My daughters have a few more years in Moscow, so we are up there a good bit. You will see us again. Thanks again for all of your efforts! I appreciate you..
