This is my favorite place to go for a burrito, taco, or quesadilla. The ingredients taste very fresh, the tortillas are made right in front of you, and the sauces are top tier. Unlike other cafeteria style Mexican restaurants, they run their entrees through a conveyer oven before serving so everything is hot and the cheese is melted. I love it! So I like Costa Vida and I've had it at several different locations. The sweet pork is my favorite and I came to this location with my wife and they were out so they get docked one star right there. They were also extremely slow. Watch them walk slowly back-and-forth like in slow motion while they had a line halfway to the door. There goes another star. Will try it again and hopefully they will be quicker and have my sweet pork! UPDATE: so I wanted to do a quick update on my last review. The first time we were in my wife and I were very disappointed. We received a wonderful email from the owner apologizing and assuring that he would look into it. We decided to go back last night and give it another try.... have to tell you we love this place now! Quality of the food is great, they had the sweet pork and to top it off Samuel who served us at the counter was amazing. One of the friendliest guys and exceptional customer service. We tried Costa Vida tonight (via DoorDash delivery) for the first time, and it honestly just makes me sad how tasteless all of the food was. It's like all the ingredients came from Gordon Food Service and the recipes off the back a GFS "Mexican Spices" jar. It was truly one one of the saddest meals I've eaten in a long time, easily the worst "Mexican" food (if one can even associate Mexican with this "Mexican Grille)" in Spring Hill, and cost the same as full-service restaurant. Unfortunately our experience left us very disappointed. While they claim freshness as a major attribute of this establishment, when we went the food was anything but fresh. While they did make fresh tortillas, all their proteins were stale after sitting for who knows how long in heated serving containers, similar to Subway except they are heated. The chicken they served had obviously been made several hours before and left to sit in the heated container - translation = very dry. Their rice is simply flavorless white rice - probably minute rice. The refried beans and salsa were obviously from a can and lacked flavor and freshness. Finally, the cost for two tortillas, one large order of chips and two waters was over $30.00 - far too expensive for the quality and quantity served. Frankly, it is less expensive to go to a real Mexican restaurant where the food is made to order and there are people who serve you. While we wanted to like this establishment, we won't be going back. read more

Ate there yesterday and I'm going to start this at three stars for the following reasons. First on ordering from a menu that allows choices of "this or that". I ordered a chipotle raspberry chicken burrito with EZ black beans and EZ rice, wet (because it's a choice) with red enchilada sauce. Knowing that the chicken would be sweet already I wanted a more savory sauce. We 4 dinners ordered using the drive through. I believed everything would be ok. Upon being handed all 4 dinners I was told "we made a mistake and used the chipotle raspberry sauce in the burrito....(trying hard to cover the mistake) but we gave you a side of the red sauce" You know where I'm headed on this...if you screw up an order and you know it, YOU make it right..right? I winced because there were now 4 cars behind us, I took the dinner and figured "OK first time, maybe everything else could be stellar so let's go with it." Mmm Nope! Somehow I got a huge portion of rice. *remember EZ rice? But somewhere somehow I got a large portion of rice that was crunchy...I gave it a chance and tho got maybe it's the raspberry seeds...it might have been so if you have diverticulitis; you might pass on this sauce. Still found a lot of crunchy rice. The beans brought in a lot of sogginess into the burrito with turned the grilled chicken into a soup. Not to impressed with the flavors. The chipotle raspberry sauce is missing with a lot of sweetness. Could have some deeper chili and cumin flavors but that's me. The red enchilada sauce barely qualifies as enchilada sauce with no heat, and not enough basics of any great red sauce chili powder, garlic powder, salt, cumin and oregano in a great roux. The other dinners (two salads and two taco plate) got picked over and general comments were meh, kinda bland and sure glad I said no beans this is soggy enough. Recommendations: 1) Don't sell mistakes! 2) Work on the recipes and get some input. If you're going to mimic Cafe Rio BEAT THEM don't just come close. 3) get slotted spoons for the beans. 4) cook the rice completely and know what amount is good for EZ. I'll go back and this time, I'll watch them build my burrito and maybe re-work my review. read more

We have a Chipotle Competitor!! Fresh Ingredients | Good flavor | Tasted Better than it Looked | Small Add On Portions for the $$ This was my first experience here and I was pleasantly surprised. I wanted to give it a try for lunch since they open at 11am to get the freshest and full experience. I ordered a Baja bowl with grilled chicken and decided to add grilled steak after noticing the server was scraping the bottom of the chicken bin. I added grilled veggies, however there was only one thin strip of bell pepper and a small serving of grilled onion. I also added their freshly made guac, which was also a smaller portion size than preferred especially in comparison to Chipotle. I was never informed of any add-on ingredient being an additional charge to my baja bowl, so that would be highly recommended for future guest experiences. My meal also did not include chips, or rather if it did I was not asked. I was only asked if I wanted a drink which I did include and the total was over $15! I would have liked to have seen better communication in regards to add-ons and meal pricing prior to handing over my card once it's all said and done. Overall: good quality, fresh food, with nice, subtle flavor for a quick Mexican inspired meal. I really enjoyed the grilled steak and the fresh tomatillo sauce as well as the jalapeño ranch. I like to check out new places to see if they are all about the hype. Although I've only had two of the meals served here, let me start by saying if I'm going to spend $10+ for a steak quesadilla I would much better be serviced at one of the many traditional Mexican restaurants that are around this area. The steak quesadilla lacked the main ingredient, steak. Heavy on the cheese light on the steak. Also you don't get the numerous condiments that you would get at a traditional Mexican restaurant in the area. Just not what I expected I guess and really no faster then the many Mexican places around here. The second was the burrito- same, lack luster and better priced and served at a traditional place. Maybe they are working out the kinks but I don't see a need going back when I can get bette quality and like less priced elsewhere. $22.92 for grilled steak quesadilla and steak burrito- no drinks either. read more

Has the concept of chipotle, although slighly different. Everything was fresh and tasty! Liked the variety of sauces and meats to customize your burrito, enchilada, salad or bowl. Salad and burrito portions are great, very filling. Nachos could use a little more help. Prices are ok, not super cheap, but decent. Good amount of seating, decently clean (some tables needed wiping off), staff wore masks and gloves. Drive-thru usually takes awhile. So for one I love this place, the sweet pork is my favorite. Today was an emotional exhausting day for me and I went here after work to get some nachos for dinner. I get home and it was the wrong order, I called and they had me come back in to fix it for me. Staff is super friendly and quick while remaking my order. Then the manager asked for my receipt which I thought of course so he can see I did in fact order this food. He hands it back to me and refunded my food which I wasn't expecting nor did I want it then to do so. Nice staff, that's where the positives end. Placed an order online, came in to pick up. After a minute of checking the bag, the guy handed it to me and thanked me. He forgot the drinks, which I let them know, and he got them to me. So much traffic in the location that it took me 20 min to get home, only to find that they have left out one of the two kid's meals. The one that WAS accounted for was a quesadilla that was laughably small, literally the smallest I've ever seen. It was like they folded a mini street taco shell in half. They also left out the dessert tortilla, meaning that if completely unchecked my order would have been missing all of the drinks, one of the two kid's meals, and dessert tortillas. Not worth the 45 min minimum it would take me to drive back to the restaurant and get back home just to correct that. And on top of that, the food wasn't that good. I do not plan on returning, which is sad, since Spring Hill is in desperate need of more restaurant options. read more

This is a fast food "fresh Mex" place, so I didn't expect a lot of flavor (think Qdoba) -- especially since it's steam table where you watch them build the meal. Someone on Yelp said they had great tacos, so I got the taco plate: 2 tacos (1 chicken, 1 pork), rice and refried beans. I had to specify corn tortillas because the default is wheat. The tortillas aren't fried at all, just heated on the grill, and they fall apart when you pick up the taco. The meat filling was OK, but not as good as most taco trucks in Nashville. I got lettuce and cheese (a lot more lettuce than cheese shreds). The rice was that white, non-Mexican rice they like to serve in fresh Mex places, and it was OK for unseasoned rice. The refried beans were kind of a soup, not much flavor. I asked for salsa fresca and watched them put liquid, cooked salsa on, but I let it slide. Luckily, over by the silverware, they had some bottles of Tapatio hot sauce. The employees are very jazzed, in that enthusiastic millennial kind of way, about how great their food is. But I'm as likely to visit a Taco Bell as Costa Vida. read more

One star only because the food was good. We ordered online tonight. Confirmation said it was to be ready at 6:36, so I arrived a few minutes before. I walk in and had to flag someone down to ask about my paid to-go order. They tell me it will be a few minutes. 40 minutes later I ask them how long it will be and they hadn't even started filling the order yet. They had taken the order and completed the sell for 8 or so people in line during that time, plus some additional takeout orders in front of me. Another 20 minutes go by and I ask them for a refund. They tell me they've started my order now and it should be just a few minutes. I ask to speak to the manager, to his credit, he gave me a refund. I waited another 20 minutes for the order. They bring it to me and I asked the staff, "is this everything" to which he replies, "I mean I do not know". Turned out we were short half of our order. Waited another 5 minutes for them to fix the remaining items. Worst customer service I have ever witnessed in my life. I walked out of the restaurant with our food at 7:45. read more

By far the best Mexican food out here. Originally from southern Utah and I cried when they opened out here. I drive an hour once a week to get this. Sweet pork is amazing!
