Small portions/lazy management. The Layton hills location gives you much less food than the other locations. They skimp on every item. Also, last time we were there an employee was working very hard alone on the line while an older man who seemed to be management was sitting to the side just shooting the breeze with another man. This place is always under staffed. The wait is very long to get your food (35 min). The air conditioner is never turned on so plan on getting your food to go. The only reason I give it 2 stars is the food is just as expected. read more

We did arrive close to closing and that were busy, that's okay. However when we paid got our food and got home it was not our order so we decided to call. Since we couldn't get the order remade, we wanted a refund. My boyfriend can't eat pork, so what they gave us we wouldn't eat anyways. When I called the phone will be ringing for minutes and I kept calling until someone picked up. When I reached a manager I told her our situation and she said she needed a receipt or order number. She never told us her name, but when I said we didn't get a receipt in the bag or back with the card she said "Then how am I supposed to give you what you want" in an annoyed manner. She then put me on hold and the call eventually ended without any resolution. I called again and they keep ending the call or turning off the phone. I wouldn't be writing this review if they actually tried to help us fix the order. They clearly don't care about their customers and are just trying to get out for the night. read more

Normally I love costa Vida but this is the second time, from the kaysville location that it's been too spicy and random huge thick onion chunks in my salad. I got extra pork and could hardly tell. I feel like the normally do a great job just maybe should retrain a few staff members. read more

We went to this Costa Vida and there were only two workers working, I felt bad for them because they were doing their best to help all of the customers. After waiting 20 minutes I finally made it to the cash register, only to see their stupid manager just sitting at a table nearby and watch the poor workers scramble to take care of everybody. Plus they fill their burritos with tons of rice and beans and very little meat. I strongly recommend that you just go to Cafe Rio a couple blocks away. read more

Freakin love their shredded beef burritos. Has a Californian beach style ambience. Not anything over the top. Workers always seem friendly. It's a good place to sit and relax with friends. Never feel rushed out. The food comes in good quantity and quality especially for what you pay. Makes for good leftovers as well. read more

Not a good experience. Service was very slow and we had to go back up to the counter twice for items they missed. The tortillas were so chewy and tough that we broke 2 knives trying to cut through them. The food overall was not very fresh. I think their A/C was broken as well as it was very warm inside. Love this place! Eat here every time I come back to Utah :) Been eating at Costa Vida for 8 years! Food is always fresh and delicious!

I ordered two burritos from the drive thru; one chicken, the other vegitarian and a order of chips and queso. I waited 30 minutes in the drive thru from when I got in line to when I got to the window to pay. I paid and sat there for an additional 5-7 min waiting for my food, when finally they asked me if I could go park and they would bring me my food because they were having problems. I said sure and asked them to make sure the one burrito was vegetarian. He said yes that is what they had for my order. So, I parked and waited another 7 min. when at last they came out with my order! I asked again, "this is one chicken and one vegetarian burrito right?" The girl said that it was. I get home and after all of that wait and asking if the order was correct I ended up with one chicken and one pork burrito. I called the store and told them what happened and they offered me a replacement, but I wanted a refund (because I will not go back to this location for food again). The woman I was talking to put the manager on who then said he would only refund one burrito. I was not happy with this answer for obvious reasons. I will be speaking to their general manager tomorrow in the hopes of getting my full refund. read more

I've been to multiple Costa Vidas in Utah and this one is by far the worst. The staff is very nice but the service is extremely slow. I waited in like for 30 minutes and there were only maybe ten people in front of me. The Layton location does have a drive-thru and that may be what's slowing things down. If you're really hungry, I suggest going somewhere else. Not worth the wait. read more

Tonight we came because we thought it wouldn't be as busy and it wasn't but they still managed to make the small line go by at snail speed. The drive thru is a lifesaver! Delicious, fresh food. My favorite is the chicken salad. The ranch dressing is amazing!

Worst Service ever! We've been disappointed by this place not once, but twice. They are very slow. They will have 2-3 employees standing around while one employee is taking the orders so it takes forever to get up the line. Both times we've been there, they have run out of tortillas both flour and corn. How does a mexican restaurant run out of tortillas in the middle of the day? And to top it off when they only had corn tortillas they still wanted to charge us the same price you would pay for a large flour burrito, for a small corn tortilla burrito!! On top of that their meats are ice cold, and they are not very friendly when you report it to them. One of their employees had no idea what salsa was! We were not the only customers that were upset, there were about 4-5 other customers that left unhappy. Anyway this place is a nightmare there's a reason this isn't Cafe Rio. Go to Cafe Rio!! I have always loved CV. But unusually go to the one in Bountiful. My experience here was less than great. Cold food ran out of rice and cheese. The meat tasted different, like a lot less flavor. Workers were annoyed we came in at 8. And very slow for being the only ones in line. read more

We love Costa Vida but the Layton location needs help! We live in Layton, but will drive to Farmington to get the better Costa Vida. The Layton location has the worst food, the chicken is always burnt there and it looks like they rip it apart with their hands. We did a phone order and one of our salads was completely wrong no beans, no chicken and salsa on it when not requested. Will only return with new management. read more

I'm a big fan of Costa Vida. I eat at their Layton, UT; Farmington, UT; and Gilbert, Az locations regularly. Nobody is perfect ... but their Mango Chicken Salad is the BEST! Good work ... and I'll keep on coming back. read more

This particular branch it terrible. Charge you for everything $1 for a small thing of dressing,0.10 for a cup. The salad was small and the drsg watered down. This place is pinching pennies but stepping over customer service. The worker made my salad w gloves never took them off worked the register made herself a drink emptied something in the trash the made someone else a salad, and kept repeating to process. I think she was trying to save the company money by not changing her gloves. read more

Dirty workspace and INCREDIBLY slow service. We were disappointed and will never come back to this location.

By far the worst visit and it was the manager hector I dealt with! Gave him my coupon code for free chips and salsa, he made me read him the code to him as if I was trying to rip him off! The code was 4 numbers and a letter! My mom is handicapped and her writing is wider! He said to me I'll let this slide this time! It was 4 digits but he made me feel like a criminal! He gave me my food and I asked for the receipt! He said it's in the bag! I got to work and it wasn't!! My family comes in about twice a week and we need those receipts to collect the points! I called and spoke to a younger sounding guy who hung up on me! I drove back through drive they and hectors hand was out the window with my receipt! He did not say hi or I'm sorry but he gave me the dirtiest look! This is how he treats his customers that have been going there for a long time! I have to taste the review but there are not negative stars available which is why I have it a one! I have never experienced such horrible customer service in my life as I just did just moments ago at the Layton Costa Vida! The manager Hector was extremely rude and disrespectful in every way. I would never recommend anyone visit this site!!!!! He on more than one occasion tried to lie and made every excuse why he could not assist me with my order and I continued to call him on his lie and he eventually was able to assist me. Pure laziness is what I guess is his problem! Be also said he didn't need my business and asked me to look behind him at the line of guests waiting. Unbelievable to hear a manager say some of the things he said and extremely Unbelievable to watch his behavior!!!!!!! Apparently Costs Vida needs to be a little more choosy add to who they put in management. I will think twice before visiting again. I'm truly shocked!!!!! read more

I would give this location a 0/5 stars if I could. The workers were not friendly at all, and they hardly put any pork in my burrito. But the worst of all was that when I said I wanted lettuce they literally gave me a single piece of lettuce. It may seem like i'm exaggerating, however, the sad truth is that I am not. They literally only gave me a single piece! I then proceeded to ask for some more lettuce because a salad is supposed to come with it on the side. The cashier then charged me extra for the lettuce I was supposed to get in the first place and she didn't even tell me she was charging me extra for it! Very very poor service here and would NOT recommend. The Costa Vida near my house always give me a salad and they say it is supposed to come with it for free! Would NOT recommend. read more
