Zero complaints. It's an oasis of sorts in a vast wasteland. After several hundred trips through Kennewick, I finally found a spot for my fam to eat that wasn't nasty fast food... quite the opposite in fact. Easy to get to off the 395, fairly healthy, and super delicious. Picture a Chipotle where they make your tortillas fresh at the start of the line. Not the cheapest place ever, but the portions were more than generous. Very CLEAN too, which is rare in the Tri Cities. read more

While they are still working out some of the kinks of opening a new restaurant/training all new employees, this place is definitely worth the patience. I eat vegetarian (not vegan) and typically alternate between the vegetarian burrito (stuffed with cilantro rice, whichever beans you choose, cheese, and whichever sauce you choose) and the vegetarian salad. Getting a burrito "smothered" is a must (meaning it's topped with more sauce and cheese) and when ordering a salad, the tomatillo ranch dressing is what makes the entire thing!! For meat eaters, everyone I know is obsessed with their sweet pork (I've heard lack-luster reviews of their chicken). The tacos are pretty small and their enchiladas are as well. If you want a lot of food, the burrito is the choice for you. Also, contrary to another review on here, there are refried beans. There are black (my personal favorite), pinto, or refried. There are multiple sauces (red chili, green chili, and green cilantro something or other), multiple salsas (pico, mango, etc.) and there are multiple dressings for salads (raspberry chipotle, tomatillo ranch, creamy cilantro, etc.). If you're looking for a comprable Tri-City location to Chipotle don't start by looking here.... In my opinion, the food at Costa Vida is not fresh, it tastes old and your portions include alot of bread and rice and very little meat, veggies and toppings. Pricing is ridiculous for the food quality, it's a chain trying to immitate Chipotle that has failed miserably and i won't go again. read more

I'm sitting in Costa Vida right now for the first time, and I can promise this will be the last. I came here because someone told me it was a Cafe Rio (one of my favorite places) knockoff. There are two things you have to pick from if you are going to knock something off... Either you need to do it better than the original, or you need to do it cheaper... Costs Vida did neither! Even once I asked for extra meat on my pork salad, there still wasn't as much meat as you get at Cafe Rio with a regular portion. Then they gave me the wrong dressing and when I went back to get the correct one they wanted to charge me saying "we have to make money". I wish the poor experience ended there, but then eating the final product showed that if Cafe Rio ever decides to come to town Costa Vida is in trouble. My family and I go here at least once a month for dinner. For the most part it is always quick and delicious. Il absolutely love their cilantro lime vinegarette dressing with the chicken salad. So good! The staff are really friendly and they will change their gloves (are cautious for allergens). I just wish they would offer more coupons and specials because it can be pricey. Entree prices maybe $1.00 less than eating at a sit-down restaurant like LaCarreta, La Placita, Fiesta Mexican, Azteca and El Fat Cat Grill. Downside of Costa Vida: ordering cafeteria style, served in aluminum take-out containers, eating with plastic utensils, self-service sodas and no beer. Plus side: fairly spacious eating area, nicely decorated with high ceilings. Restaurant MO: if you order burritos, enchiladas or tacos you have the same choices for fillings: sweet pork, shredded beef, grilled chicken, raspberry chicken or grilled steak. My wife had (2) raspberry chicken enchiladas ($7.79).. they were delicious but small, nice grilled-smoked chicken flavors. I recommend staying away from the daily specials ... they are very small portions and not worth the price. My Chile Verde enchilada needed more spices and serving size was too small. Lime rice and black beans as accompaniments are very good. I would spend the extra buck, enjoy table service eating off porcelain plates using metal flatware enjoying salsa & chips with my beer waiting for my entree at the restaurants I listed instead. read more

Nothing like Baja Fresh where ingredients are freshly cooked and edible in a handheld burrito. At this Costa Vida the meats and beans are soaking in deep liquid filled containers that are continuously refilled. The meats are prepared ahead of time and refrigerated until needed. The resulting burritos are disintegrating from all of the liquid that drains out. The aluminum foil pans are needed to just catch the swimming pool of liquid draining out. read more

Won't be returning because I've had terrible experiences every time. The staff does not treat customers well. They are too concerned about rationing the correct portions of food and keeping costs down than the customer's satisfaction and experience. Not worth it. I felt patronized and felt like staff was very condescending--especially the management. Sure they had smiling pleasant faces sort of giving the impression that they might care about their customers. I always get the raspberry chicken salad. They put a tortilla, rice, and beans on the bottom, followed by the actual salad. I get the green salad dressing on the side. I think it's a cilantro avocado vinaigrette. I have tried a few other items on the menu including the sweet pork and shrimp which were very good. My husband didn't originally like the food, but he found a burrito he liked the second time. For my husband, kid, and I, we usually spend about $30. read more

I've tried Costa Vida twice and wasn't impressed either time. My first complaint is that the prices are outragous. They charge you extra if you want salsa, sour cream, or guacamole with your burrito. The food is ok, but for the price you pay, you get more food and better food by going to places like Azteca. The first time I went, they gave me larger portions than the second time I went and I ordered the same thing. The cafeteria style ordering experience works for places like Subway, but Costa Vida can't get the hang of it apparently. They have several slow workers maticulously counting every little item they put on your plate, making sure that if they accidentally go over the designated amount, you get charged. I give restaraunts two shots before I wash my hands clean of them and I plan on never going back to this place. It's a rip off. If you want a good, cheap taco, go somewhere else. read more

We ate here for the first and last time. Astronomical prices for servings to small you need a magnifying glass to see them. Come on! $5.49 for one enchilada served in a paper thin tortilla with only a teaspoon full of meat, if that much. Dried food was crusted thickly on the counter and tables. Costa Vida Fresh Mexican Grill, I found that fresh, it was, not really all that fresh and someone needs to take the Salt Shaker away from them. I got the sweet pork burrito (take-out because it was too noisy to eat in) and when I took my first (and subsequent bites) it tasted burnt and was very 'greasy' ... needless to say, was a total waste! Want the cliff notes without reading my whole, wordy review? Then read just this: if you want to go somewhere that has poor customer service and tiny portion sizes with high prices go here. I used to go here all of the time. When I say all of the time I mean multiple times a week, sometimes multiple times a day. The workers knew me by order and name. I love the food. Why don't I go anymore you ask? Their portion sizes and customer service have deteriorated to the point it's not worth spending $7.50 a pop. It's pretty awful the way I was treated the last few times I have been there when you consider how much I have spent there since they opened. Time and time again the past few months I have felt devalued as a customer. I'm not alone, pretty much everyone I know that goes here, from friends to family to coworkers have a problem with their portion sizes and have noted the decline in customer service. The portion sizes have decreased time and time again over the past year. The helping of salad you actually get on your salad is pitiful - usually pretty far under the bottom lip of the container. When you ask for more they put a spoonful on and gladly charge you extra. My chicken salad never has more than 5 or 6 of the very smallest pieces of chicken - I watch them hunt through the chicken to find the smallest pieces. The rice and beans helpings are also ridiculously small and inconsistent. There have been times I am given two mouthfuls (literally took two small spoonfuls to eat the entire helping) and when I ask for more they charge me extra! This is on a $7.50 meal! The management obviously puts saving a few pennies over customer service and experience. Too bad and good job Costa, you have alienated a very regular customer! read more

Was looking forward to this place opening, so went during their first week of business. Decor / ambiance very nice - they spent some $$. You order "mission-style", at the counter, they put together the food in front of you, a la Qdoba or Taco Del Mar. Unfortunately, the food didn't measure up. I ordered chicken enchiladas, and the first red flag was when the counter-person put what looked like a teaspoon of meat on each enchilada. Never a good sign when they decide they've scooped up too much and most of it goes "back in the pot". Accompanied by a very small amount of lime rice and black beans (refried beans not an option). Bottom line - not enough food for the buck. You get more value for money at Chico's or Taco Time. I had to console myself at the terrific frozen yogurt store next door. Will definitely give them a second chance though - maybe they didn't have all the kinks worked out. Increase those portion sizes! read more

Ive been to Costa Vida about 5 times now. I have to say most of the staff is pretty great, and the food is always good but my beef is with the way they present the extras... they don't tell you for every thing they offer they are charging you extra for it also if Im spending 10 dollars for a salad don't put 2 oz's of chicken on it thats just stingy. I would expect at least the amount of a full chicken breast for a salad that expensive. I don't mind spending more money I just want some sort of value for my money. I dont think that Costa Vita provides bang for your buck and nickel and diming your customers won't get you ahead. Restaurants in the tri cities like Bruchis have been successful because they bend over backwards for the customers and don't charge you for every little thing. I like your food but I just wish you would look out for your customer a little more. Hopefully with more time you guys will work out the kinks. read more
