Authentic Mexican Flavors and Generous Portions - A Local Favorite in Kennewick Taqueria El Sazon was a pleasant surprise and one of the most authentic Mexican dining experiences I've had in a while. This small, mom-and-pop-style restaurant was packed with customers even at 2 PM on a Friday, which says a lot. A local friend told us it's always busy, no matter the time of day, and it's open until midnight, making it a reliable late-night food spot as well. What We Ordered: * Beef Soup: This was my personal highlight. The beef was exceptionally tender, reminiscent of Korean galbitang (beef soup), though the ingredients and broth had a distinctly different, Mexican flair. The broth leaned oily, but the flavor was rich and comforting. Next time, I'd like to try it with regular beef instead of tendon. For my personal taste it was still pretty greasy. * Beef & Cheese Quesadilla: Massive in size and definitely enough to share. Yes, it was oily--but that added to the indulgent, local flavor. For my personal taste it was still pretty greasy. * Chili Verde Pork: Flavorful and juicy with just the right amount of kick. Still pretty greasy. * Nachos with Cheese & Beef: Not bad, but a bit dry compared to the other dishes. Might benefit from extra sauce or salsa. Pickle & Sauce Bar: A huge bonus! There were four house-made salsas, pickled red onions with a spicy kick, radishes, and cucumber slices--all perfect accompaniments to balance out the heavier dishes. ‍‍‍ Ambience & Service: The atmosphere was family-friendly with a classic, cozy Mexican restaurant vibe. The staff were friendly and efficient, even though the place was packed. Seating is limited, so be prepared to wait during peak hours--but it's worth it. Pricing: While prices have increased a bit (dishes ranging from $15-19), the portion sizes are generous--many plates could easily be split between two people. Considering the quality and authenticity, it still feels like a great value. Final Thoughts: Most of the patrons appeared to be from Central or South American backgrounds, which added even more credibility to the authenticity of the food. I would absolutely return next time I'm in Kennewick. If you're craving hearty, flavorful, and truly authentic Mexican cuisine, this is a must-visit. read more

l used to go there all the time with my family. The staff was nice sometimes and the food is good. But my friend just moved to town and applied for a job there. I don't know if you have any decent managers because of how they handled her interviews, they wasted her time more than once! And the worst part was your staff laughing and giving her dirty looks while she was there for an interview, it's not even about her getting the job. It's about basic respect. Sad to see a place l used to go to almost every day act like that. Doesn't matter what business it is, if you treat people that way, you lose me and my family as a customer. read more

We love this place and always get their breakfast burritos because they are delicious! Burritos are usually pretty big but today they were unusually smaller . Not sure if there's a new cook or just not enough ingredients....but we definitely noticed! No matter what, still great food! read more

They didn't put any toppings on any tacos for a $35 order lazy workers don't suggest this place!

Harold and I each ordered a breakfast burrito here the other morning. While the burritos didn't taste bad, they were mostly potato. Then to discover that we were charged a "take out fee" of 75 cents? We feel very ripped off. What is that fee for? Just another way to gouge customers. We will not be back. read more

AMAZING food! Totally delicious they have a drive thru, which is a plus We ordered a torta and while waiting for it they told us they had ran out of bread and allowed us to choose a different dish of our choice. They also gave us a free soda! Customer service was great and the food even more 100% recommend the quesabirrias read more

I moved to Kennewick, WA from my Hometown, San Francisco, CA in 2016 and never thought about the quality & variety of food available in Tri-Cities, which I found sorely disappointing. The prices charged for food that is so not worth it is borderline criminal! Okay, I know I'm spoiled because the competition is intense in SF and the quality and quantity and prices have made me a bit of a snob. My bad. A couple months ago, I happened to drive into El Sazon out of curiosity and am now a loyal customer. Today, I bought 4 tacos, 2x carnitas & 2x shredded beef. OMG!!! The quality of the meat and the authenticity is so scrumptious! Four tacos for less than $10 and they are very generous with the meat! I highly recommend the tacos - huge chunks of meat - and the shrimp ceviche tostadas which are very tasty! I'll be back soon! read more

Ordenamos burritos de cabeza. Por lo que cobran, mejor vallan al Taco Bell y ordenan burritos de frijoles. Nos dieron burritos de frijoles y arroz con casi nada de carne. No vuelvo a ir. Ordered burritos with head meat. For what they charge, it's better if you go to Taco Bell and order a bean and cheese burrito. The burritos were full of beans and rice with hardly any meat. I could have made that at home. I won't be going back. read more

Nice big menu of Mexican dishes. Reasonably priced. Dining area lacks charm. No music.

The food was so good there were no phones being looked at and no words being spoken. Eating. Just eating. And loving every friggin bite! Restaurant was clean, moderately busy on this Friday at 5, help was nice, food was awesome. What more can you want? read more

Can I give this place more than five stars?! Please? My only regret about this restaurant is getting hooked and being that it is so far away from where I live... It saddens me. We were in Kennewick for a tournament and a local resident recommended this restaurant to us. It was so close to our hotel and we heard the area had delicious Mexican food. If there is one thing about me that everyone knows, it's that I LOVE Mexican food. We came on a Saturday afternoon and it was busy. The first thing you notice is the electronic menu board.. Okay, they have everything. My bf got the carne asada which was like... $10? You don't ever find carne asada for that cheap.. I ordered their pork dish with beans and rice... And as my bf tells me, in order to really get a true telling about a Mexican restaurant, you have to try their tacos. We ordered 3 carne asada tacos, and 3 chichiron tacos. They have a salsa bar with chips and all sorts of goodness. The food was aaaammmaaaazzziiinnnggg. The best, most authentic Mexican food I have ever eaten, and trust me... I've had a lot in my days. The staff is SO friendly and the place is very clean. I used their bathroom (which you have to exit the restaurant and walk a few feet away to) and it was one of the cleanest restaurant's bathrooms I have ever used. My bf and I ate enough to not eat the rest of the day for $30ish including tip! So cheap for such quality, satisfying food. I'm trying to find a reason to go out there again just so we can eat here! If you live in the area, or are visiting.. This is a must try! read more

Food is always good even if they get the order wrong. Service is usually great, with the exception of Rodolto. He has no customer service skills at all, I have encountered him twice in the drive thru the first time he cut me off in the middle of my order with a total, so I didn't even get my order in. This last time he left me hanging at the drive thru for 10 min without getting payment or saying hey or nothing then took my payment standing in the window with it closed, didn't ask what sauces I would like. hemmin and hawing rolling his eyes all while my order was sitting ready to go within my sight for 4 minutes. Then the order was wrong- I ordered asada and got adobada. Fire him quick or teach him some skills. Customers make your business. read more

While driving through town on our way home, we stumbled upon this place and are SO GLAD THAT WE DID! The food was amazing and EVERYONE was wearing a mas PROPERLY! Going to have to pass on anything that doesn't have chicken meat. Bought an asada burger and on 2 occasions there's been hard spots. They advertise $1 tacos from 8-closing but around 11pm they run out of meat (this is what I was told by the drive thru personnel) and only have a select menu which you have to ask (what do you have available?). I think it's a bad business practice to advertise their $1 tacos for a given timeframe, but excuse themselves ; when they " run out of meat." If you run out of meat then put that in the ad. Otherwise, this is setting the wrong customer expectations. Lately their drive thru has been packed, but so have other restaurants. It's great that this business is opening up another location, but maybe they should not lose focus on improving their current customer's service & experience. read more

I have to say I was very impressed with their food!! I'm a pretty big food snob.. and it's been a while since we last dined there. Well!! Good job!! I will come back for more.. #greatcustomerservice #goodfood #iwantseconds The only tip I have is maybe the dining area (wonkytable) needs a tightening .. and tiding tables.. other than that I'll back back read more

First time here will definitely be back ...amazing authentic food and spectacular service

The food was alright. Won't be going here again. The food was superrrr salty! And the tortillas were cold, so it cause our tacos to break.

We were traveling through and looking something fairly quick to eat. After looking on yelp, we decided to try this place. I am willing to concede that we may have ordered the wrong thing at this place. We both got the taco salad with chicken. It had sour cream and guacamole on top. With the first forkful, we could see that everything below the sour cream/guac was liquid. it was sort of like chicken stew in a flour shell with wilted lettuce on top. Pretty disgusting, actually. We each ate maybe a third of it & left the rest. Also, the "salad" didn't look at all like the picture on the menu! The salsa bar is a nice touch. I would never go back to this place. Maybe the tacos & enchiladas are better? I wouldn't risk it; even a chain restaurant would be better than this. I voted "not helpful" on all the photos since our food looked nothing like the photo on the menu. read more

Absolutely love this restaurant. Since moving here from the LA area one of the things I missed the most was carne asada wet burrito in salsa verde. Now this is something they don't have in the menu but they do have wet burritos in salsa roja (red) but if you ask them if it can be in salsa verde they will do it at no extra charge :) the prices they have are excellent I've notice a lot of Mexican restaurants are way to over price here in the tri cities. Love their salsa and chip bar too read more

For some reason my husband wanted Sazon so we decided to give this place another try but didnt fail to disappoint once again the prices online are diffrent from what they have in store my husband went through the drive through not even paying attention to the prices because we had already looked online when he got home I had 1 torta de asada 4 tacos and a medium horchata for $22.79 ...I called the store asked for a manager when questioned she said that the store manager is the one who handles the web page I thought i was talking to the store manager?? Hmmm and she said prices always change..so the torta online went from $6.92 to $8.76 and 4 tacos went from $9 to $10.83 ..ridiculous and I guess we have to request lime with tacos when going through the drive up area cuz they dont give anything unless requested I agree with a former post this place Sucks!!! read more

This has become my go-to place for quick Mexican food. The tacos are really good and the pozole works great with my fitness related meal plan. I've only been once (so far) but I had to write a review. The atmosphere is.. well, grey-hound bus station-ish (cleaner though) . But the food makes up for that. Staff is friendly and efficient. Food is way off the chart for "fast" Mexican food. They have "All you can eat Menudo" for 6.99. SHUT up! They have a ton of choices in meats *Asada (Steak) *Adobada (Spicy Pork) *Carnitas (Marinated Pork) *Birria (Shredded Beef) *Pollo (Chicken) *Cabeza *Lengua *Buche *Tripa *Campechano (tripa, buche, carnitas) They also have "happy hour "tacos from 2-5PM 59 cents each. I had a couple of mulita and some rice and beans. I tried the marinated pork and the asada. Great flavors, nothing was buried in cheese. I will definitely go back and try other things. read more

This is my favorite place to eat in the Tri-Cities. This is a great place for a fast casual dining experience. I had heard about it from one of my friends who is actually from Mexico, and her and her family love eating here. El Sazon blows all other mexican food places out of the water and here is why 1. Horchata on tap with free refills! Some of the best I have had. 2. Extremely clean environment 3. Friendly, but not obnoxiously friendly staff. 4. Free chips and salsa. 5. Amazing prices 6. Very nice environment on the inside with T.Vs, almost a lounge style environment 7. 59 cent tacos from 2-5 Mon-Fri 8. Great hours. Open from 7-11 on weekdays and 7AM-3AM on weekends. 9. They bring you your food as well as bus your table for you. 10. Just overall amazingly good food. Nothing to complain about yet, maybe if they had wifi it would be cool but that is all. read more
