First off they have a small parking lot which was great since it's on a busy street, nice booths, they even have a bell ringer at each table for your waitress to come by your table, small restaurant maybe 10 tables or slightly more. We ordered the shrimp enchiladas and it turned into a pool of water. I am not sure where all the water came from. I think the shrimp must have thawed on the plate. I honestly wish I could rate this place higher because it hit the spot. Parking is super easy as they have a lot right out back. We were recommended to come here by a friend's coworker. We really wanted some good mariscos and this place did not disappoint. The neon signs in the door already hyped us up because we knew the food was about to be so good. They had all the games on for Sunday which was nice. They had live mariachi music which was so fun and they played a song choice of ours. We ordered michis with modelo Negra and they were so good. I tried their mojarra frita with a fish taco on the side & michelada. The fish was a good size, fried well & very tasty. The beans & rice was nothing special, I just wasn't a fan of the beans to be honest. I think it was more of the texture for me. However, the taco was my favorite. The fish was crispy, crunchy & had tartar sauce on top of it that gave a really good flavor profile to the fish. The michelada was also pretty good. Had good enough flavor & spice to it. My wife and I have been coming here for years and years. For dining in and to get food to go. Today will be our last time supporting this business. It turns out that they have raised their prices and based on our to-go order today, they have decreased the portions. We ordered 2 menudos to-go. Usually it's our favorite place for menudo. We got our order home and it was the worst menudo ever. It appeared to be watered down and the broth was brown in color instead of the usual red. I can always depend on Costa Azul for excellent food and consistently great service. Although they are well known for their seafood, their chicken and asada entrees are worth acknowledging. I usually get a chicken or asada quesadilla and the portions are generous and meat is cooked to perfection with no "bad pieces" that I'd usually have to pick out elsewhere. Their menu is huge, so there is something for everyone (including my picky vegetarian sister). I am also a fan of their homemade mole sauce- so much so, that when I told the waiter how much I loved it, he gave me a to go cup full of it to enjoy. So sweet. This place never disapoints! It's so close to our house that we get take out and delivery often when we're craving Mexican food. They have enough variety other than your typical tacos and burritos to keep coming back for whatever mood we're in. I've had the pozole, menudo, and all the seafood soups and they're all tasty! TWICE The first was not allowing my family and I to sit inside the restaurant when they had 1 hour left of opening and she told us they were closed. Well, this is unfortunate....I LOVED coming here for my tostadas de ceviche, but today we ordered aguachiles (didn't see it on the menu, but overheard someone order it, so we added one to our order). We were super excited to try it and when we got home we just ate from the container. Well, we ate some and it was pretty good, until one bite, I heard a loud crunch (my comadre heard it too) it sounded like I bit a rock. We looked at each other, I automatically stopped chewing and spit out the bite of aguachiles that I had in my mouth. Then I noticed blood, thinking I may have cracked a tooth or something (which would be odd since I visit the dentist frequently and have pretty healthy oral hygiene) I rinsed my mouth out only to find scrapes/cuts along the roof of my mouth. Went back to look through the bite of aguachiles and found BROKEN SHARDS OF GLASS!!! What the heck!!! I called the restaurant to let them know and Martha at the front didn't think it could be possible. "No one else has called to say anything." Well, it only takes ONE error...I let her know I was just calling so they could know and be more careful. So bummed that I'm going to have to find a new Mariscos place. Cut it open, and saw my order was wrong and had chicken, no big deal. The waitress let me keep the meal and said she would bring the cheese enchiladas. Within 5-7 minutes she walks out with a plate that had 2 enchiladas with unmelted cheese. Once cut open, it was discovered the entire enchilada was stuffed with unmelted cheese and uncooked! Nice juicy chunks of fresh shrimp marinated with lime juice and tomatoes and onions with cucumber can't go wrong. Flavor is spot on and always tastes fresh. Served on a traditional corn tostada with an avocado garnish. For around a little over six dollars it's definitely a bargain. Bacon wrapped shrimp are decent. You get about five shrimp that have been stuffed with crab meat and then wrapped in bacon. This time around bacon was a slightly overcooked so the chard pork definitely over powered the taste of the trip. Beans and rice are typical, good flavor behind them. The gal at the counter tonight acted as if we BOTHERED her with every request we made: do you have pico de gillo? Could you put the cilantro on the side please? May I have green chili? When I asked who the manager is, she abruptly replied, "I am"! Sure she is. And if she is, there's no hope for service improvement because managers set the standard. The other night when we dined in the waitress was upset because I canceled my meal because it was sprinkled with onions and cilantro when I asked for none. I wasn't going to wait another half hour to eat so my husband and I shared his plate. What's ridiculous is we tipped the waitress in advance because her shift was ending, then she had the gall to have a full on attitude because we returned a wrong order. The first time we were disappointed here was the first time we tried this place. Our phone order was wrong. Mistakes happen so we let it slide. The 7 Mares Soup was awesome, it was our first time here and we loved the kick back atmosphere and live music on a Friday night. Wish my husband and I would of gone to this place sooner. We have been living in Burbank since 2012 and tried all the local restaurant chains but I can see this becoming one of our future go to spots. Gotta give them a rating, I was pleasantly surprised. At first glance you may not be crazy impressed. But the staff is great, manager actually checked in on our table TWICE!
