I honestly wish I could rate this place higher because it hit the spot. Parking is super easy as they have a lot right out back. We were recommended to come here by a friend's coworker. We really wanted some good mariscos and this place did not disappoint. The neon signs in the door already hyped us up because we knew the food was about to be so good. They had all the games on for Sunday which was nice. They had live mariachi music which was so fun and they played a song choice of ours. We ordered michis with modelo Negra and they were so good. For food we ordered the fresh oysters with shrimp ceviche on top. So fresh and yummy. We got the Aguachile which was 10 out of 10 so good. This was definitely my favorite thing we ordered. We also got shrimp ceviche and avocado. Every single thing we ordered was fresh and so delicious. They also jad a selection of hot sauce which we loved. It turns out that they have raised their prices and based on our to-go order today, they have decreased the portions. We ordered 2 menudos to-go. Usually it's our favorite place for menudo. We got our order home and it was the worst menudo ever. It appeared to be watered down and the broth was brown in color instead of the usual red. I can always depend on Costa Azul for excellent food and consistently great service. Although they are well known for their seafood, their chicken and asada entrees are worth acknowledging. I usually get a chicken or asada quesadilla and the portions are generous and meat is cooked to perfection with no "bad pieces" that I'd usually have to pick out elsewhere. Their menu is huge, so there is something for everyone (including my picky vegetarian sister). I am also a fan of their homemade mole sauce- so much so, that when I told the waiter how much I loved it, he gave me a to go cup full of it to enjoy. So sweet. There's a waitress that has ruined my family and I's experience. TWICE The first was not allowing my family and I to sit inside the restaurant when they had 1 hour left of opening and she told us they were closed. I tried their mojarra frita with a fish taco on the side & michelada. The fish was a good size, fried well & very tasty. The beans & rice was nothing special, I just wasn't a fan of the beans to be honest. I think it was more of the texture for me. However, the taco was my favorite. Cut it open, and saw my order was wrong and had chicken, no big deal. The waitress let me keep the meal and said she would bring the cheese enchiladas. Great flavor profiles and decent recipes make for an above average Mexican restaurant. By far the shrimp ceviche tostada it's always a hit. Nice juicy chunks of fresh shrimp marinated with lime juice and tomatoes and onions with cucumber can't go wrong. Flavor is spot on and always tastes fresh. Served on a traditional corn tostada with an avocado garnish. For around a little over six dollars it's definitely a bargain. Bacon wrapped shrimp are decent. You get about five shrimp that have been stuffed with crab meat and then wrapped in bacon. This time around bacon was a slightly overcooked so the chard pork definitely over powered the taste of the trip. Beans and rice are typical, good flavor behind them. Two stars for the incredible food. Three lost stars for the lousy customer service. Third time we've come here in the last month and three times we've been met with rude attitudes. What's ridiculous is we tipped the waitress in advance because her shift was ending, then she had the gall to have a full on attitude because we returned a wrong order. (Only time that's happened in the past was when I visited a Gordon Ramsey restaurant). The food was great! We had a Michelada, Asada taco, Carnitas taco, and Chicharon taco. This is easily one of the top 5 Mexican restaurants in Burbank and definitely the best Mariscos (Seafood for gringos). The staff is friendly and the food is fantastic. They have large TVs to watch soccer or baseball or music while you eat and a nice bar. It is near shopping and convenient to the freeway. If you are in the mood for legitimate Mexican food while in the valley, do yourself a favor and hit this place up.
