Pental is…read morethe manufacturer and they have a gorgeous showroom in the Northwest Industrial area, but then you need to work with a fabricator or tile contractor to get the pricing and install the product. It is a challenge because you won't get a price quote from Pental, so you can spend a lot of time looking before realizing you are choosing an item well above your budget. In our particular case, we had a smaller scale project, so we ended up looking for remnants, not a full slab. So you go to the showroom and fall in love with a quartz slab, then have the not-so-fun process of trying to track down the material, since Pental does not sell remnants or partial slabs. A lot of this information is kept very close to the vest, since it is in their best interest to sell full slabs to fabricators and contractors, so you see where the frustration comes in as a direct consumer. I went to Pental because my parents just used their materials in a gorgeous bathroom remodel and they had a good experience. In their case, they used a designer and had a different budget, so not surprising it was a smoother process for them. I like their style since my design style goes toward the contemporary. If you are looking for patterns and decorative tile, then Pratt & Larsen is probably the go-to shop in Portland. I've visited a multitude of suppliers in the area and by comparison, my personal experience of walking in the door and looking for help was only so-so here. I had a better experience at United Tile and Pratt & Larsen, although Pental didn't require I check out and return samples of the items I chose.

When I called to make an appointment, the woman who answered was friendly and helpful but said an appointment wasn't needed and feel free to just come in. I indicated that I would prefer an appointment and she confirmed that wasn't a problem and booked one for later in the week for us. We were treated with a smile when we came in for our appointment and pointed in the direction for the type of material we believed we were interested in. She then told us that the woman who was going to help us would be over very shortly. The designer was over shortly and took a little time to understand and get information on our project and what our vision was. She pulled a few samples and as we talked through the design concepts we changed our vision a bit and she lead us through some ideas. Her next pull on the product hit it out of the ballparks and we landed on the backsplash we ended up ordering. She was great. They took down the information and confirmed they would relay the information to our contractor who would also confirm the amount we would need. We then went back in a few days later to make the payment for the material. Once again we were warmly welcomed and very quickly supported with the payment. I would absolutely recommend CFM for their staff, service level, knowledge and vast variety of products and assistance.
