After reading all the…read more5-star reviews (which influenced my decision to go with this company), I am baffled by the terrifically poor wall painting job Christine's painting contractor provided for us. That, on top of his over the top rudeness to myself and my spouse, just made this job one of the most unpleasant home improvement projects we have done. We had to have the painter return (which was the last thing we wanted) and Christine to rectify the numerous painting errors. He, once again, wouldn't even acknowledge us. Yes, there was a language barrier, but he never once greeted us when coming into our home, rushed through the job (he got "done" two days ahead of schedule) and did one of the messiest wall painting jobs I've seen. Yes, the cabinets look nice, but with all the cabinet refinishing companies out there one would think the finished job should be close to perfect. The owner never checked with us during the job and when we started to express our displeasure towards the end, she offered numerous excuses, defending her painter. We do have a lg Pride flag on our house and we are thinking perhaps the painter was homophobic. We don't readily go to that, but this guy's attitude stumped us. Christine did correct the problems but overall, esp with the amount of $ we spent, we highly regret not going with a different company.

Dishonest, unprofessional. We hired Kami to decorate our living room, a project that took 9 months…read morestart to finish. She was dismissive of our thoughts/preferences and responded defensively when we asked for other options throughout the entire process. I didn't want to break our contract, since we'd paid her design fee upfront. At the end of our project, she sent us a final invoice showing she had gone 15-20% over budget, without our approval. Then, when I requested receipts, she refused to provide them. This was an extremely disappointing and tumultuous experience. We're now redoing the room ourselves, and reporting her to BBB for dishonest business practices.

However, we assumed that Stephanie would provide us with an overview of the process with timelines and what to expect in order to work with our move-in goals. She never provided any sense of targets or timelines, which left us unsure how things worked, when we were supposed to reach out to her, and when we should expect to receive mock ups of designs/options. There was overall really poor communication and we tried to address this. Eventually, at some point, she decided that we were not a good fit as client and designer and even mentioned she had a feeling this would not work the moment she stepped into our home originally. In that case, we wish she would have told us that earlier instead of bringing us on somewhat of an emotional rollercoaster. We later got some very harsh and cold emails from Kami accusing us of sending bad checks, when in reality, our materials had gotten mixed up as we were moving, and would have been able to rectify things if they had communicated properly with us when we first sent over the payments. Honestly, just looking at the way she responds to comments on Yelp (in addition to her communication over email) shows how she lacks professionalism and basic empathy. Perhaps, we just had a bad experience, but I'm honestly not sure if this is a super friendly business for people of color, particularly with a desire to integrate some of their cultural elements into the design, or for people new to the interior design process.

Countertops should be this easy!!…read more I have had a saga of trying to find a small countertop for my laundry cabinet for months now. It was too small of a job for most countertop places to do without me buying an entire slab. Places that can sell by the sq foot like Home Depot had sq footage minimums and were booked more than two months out. So for months my cabinets were semi-unusable with no countertops on while the sight of the mess kept grating on my nerves. Anyone whose lived in a never ending house project can understand. On a whim, I decided to go to ZC as it popped up on my most recent Google maps search. I called first since the website said no job is too small - a sentiment that hasn't proven to be true in other places. Gloria took down my measurements and immediately said that it wouldn't be a problem and to come by when I had time. I was there within the hour, picked out a beautiful quartz that was more than fairly priced, and had install schedule for two days afterwards! Not only did the installer arrive promptly, Gloria kept in contact via text to let me know within half an hour of his arrival and checked in with me afterwards. Not only was the installer prompt, he was speedy, tidy, and efficient. I also appreciated that he follows current COVID precautions without needing to be asked. He was in and out within an hour and half, extremely polite. And his caulking was immaculate! I still pinch myself when I pass by my laundry room each time since it looks so beautiful now. And most importantly, it's complete and done! I wish I had more countertop needs in this house, I would go back to work with Gloria at ZC in a heartbeat.
