Their lovely showroom and a huge warehouse full of slabs (granite, quartzite, marble, limestone, Neolith, and more) is located on SE 26th. I had the pleasure of taking a guided tour of the facility. Customer service was excellent, you can tell these folks care about what they do and want to see your project succeed. They're honest about the realities of natural stone (like staining and etching) so you can make the right choice. They use a $-$$$$ system to communicate approximate price levels. When choosing natural stone, you really have to see the entire slab - and for many of these stones, people have an emotional reaction. So it makes sense that this facility is a pleasure to visit. It's almost guaranteed you will leave inspired.

Their website is also top notch. Their website shows available inventory and incoming inventory, of which customers can put holds on, before they arrive. Their staff are very nice and helpful. Beverly suggests making an appt before you come in, to insure that there's someone present to assist you with any questions. When Drew is there, he can give you even more details on the slabs. We were in yesterday, and he moved some slabs with the forklift, to get one I wanted to see. He brought it out into a space near the door, so that we could see it in natural light. If there's something on their website that you like, call for an appt first, so that they can find it for you, as they are still currently moving into this new location.

Our journeyman plumber recommended that we use Hawthorne Tile to replace our walk-in shower insert,…read moreas it needed to be removed because of a leak in the drain. I originally planned to tile the shower myself but decided to get a bid from Hawthorne Tile. While the bid was higher than I expected, the level of thought and precision that went into tiling the shower walls was surprising. Cory, the journeyman tile setter, was fastidious about making everything level and plumb. Andrew, his apprentice, did much of the tile cutting (on our balcony with causing any damage) and fetching supplies with a smile. And they used materials that I wasn't even aware of (the craft has obviously improved over time), which significantly reduced the chance for leaks and seepage. At the last possible moment, I asked for a design change as the accent tile didn't look as good in the bathroom as it had when we designed it in the showroom. Both Cory and Dirk (the owner) were extremely gracious about accommodating the design change, and I stepped up to overnight tile delivery in an effort to minimize delays. The resulting finished product actually took my breath away. The job was professionally done with minimal mess and inconvenience. And the tile work has a lifetime guarantee. It is rare that my expectations are met but the guys at Hawthorne Tile exceeded my expectations and, as a result, the end product was excellent. They are worth every penny.

Dave walked us through the different options, had plenty of samples available, and clearly explained the pros/cons of the various types of flooring we were considering. We chose EcoFloors not only because they had a great price (better than anywhere else in Portland that we talked to), but also because Dave deeply understood the products he was selling. For example, he had a lot of advice to offer about this type of LVP flooring and the pros/cons of using the "nose" pieces of their stairs vs. going with custom hardwood stairs. Dave was also excellent at keeping us up-to-date with inventory of the product and advising us when we needed to place our order to get the necessary supply before stock dropped too low.
