This is the crazy vintage fashion palace of 'The Queen' Cosmo and her charming twin brother Joe. On Melrose Ave. It is one of the most eclectic, unique and amazing vintage stores in Hollywood and they have the most fabulous eccentric taste. The custom T-shirts with different celebrities are expensive but extraordinary. The way they mix pieces and put outfits together is next level. Great customer service and they are so fun to chat with. But this intimate small boutique smelled really bad inside, like heinously bad. An overpowering musty and moldy odor. I don't know what it is, from the clothes and decomposition or something. Couldn't stay in there for more than five minutes. read more

My friend said that she used to shop here all the time when she was in LA and I can see why. The place is amazing! So many fabulous clothes and the owner, Cosmo, was great at styling all of us, although I think he was partial to one of my friends because she is the perfect sample size, so I don't blame him, lol. Made us laugh too. Everything from the hats to the shoes and clothes make you look like a star as you're being styled. I really wanted to see The Queen but she was not in. I went rather late in the day. I wonder if I would have better luck making an appointment... I was pretty intimidated! I didn't want to bug the staff. They seemed nice, though. The clothing itself reminds me of the stores on Haight and Ashbury (NorCal represent!) and Cosmo did mention they are popular with burning man and the festival crowd. Very pretty stuff. The sizing of the items that were most cute seemed a little small to be honest (I'm on the cusp of plus and straight size). It was a bit pricy too. Many current and trendy designers all had stores on Melrose. Cosmos is truly the place to go for fun in total glam. Their ever-changing fashions are designed and made by them all in Los Angeles. My experience was quite this opposite of many of the reviews posted. I left feeling very uncomfortable. The sales associate was crazy - touching my arm multiple times - was extremely pushy making us try things we weren't interested in - and made uncomfortable jokes that they needed "a line of coke" to deal with us as customers. Also made a joke about them doing something sexual to my fiancee. Honestly, I really just wanted to look around and find a couple accessories that worked for my party. I'm a polite, respectful customer - all I wanted to do was look around on my own. I completely respect if the over-the-top sales techniques are the stores vibes; but it just wasn't for me. I was contacted by Donato 8 months after writing this review and he paid me for the product and was very apologetic about the situation. I appreciate that and his making sure to handle things. I do believe they typically pay their vendors, however they still should have replied to my multiple texts asking for payment and followed up. They knew we were out of state but said they had a check waiting for me. Nobody ever contacted me and the check was eventually voided. When that was done they should have reached out and communicated that. Anyways, I think they learned from this and I appreciate their follow up. read more

Extremely rude, anti-black, and unprofessional. Came in here tonight (looking completely presentable but that doesn't matter) and didn't receive a greeting, a hello, and introduction. Nothing! In fact it was clear that I was not welcomed. Even though I was extremely excited to explore the store and spend money, every question I had was met with inconvenience and annoyance. I asked if they carried a pair of pants in a smaller size and that was given with a cold "no". Then everything I touched, the employee came behind me and "investigated" the area. Mind you, I still haven't been greeted or even invited to ask any questions about the store. THEN...as I was leaving, the employee SNATCHED my bag from my side to "look inside of it" and once, obviously seeing nothing, there was no apology. Disgusting behavior!! Even if there was a slight chance or suspension I was stealing (which there was no real time to make that assumption given I was already labeled a criminal before I even stepped 2 feet into the store with the obvious unwelcomeness), that is NOT how you handle it. The clothes are ok, but wayyy overpriced ($600 for a fringe Jean jacket) and the owner is cxnty. The owner follows you around the WHOLE time and will keep pressuring you to look at the most expensive stuff. After deciding to put down the jacket, the owner told me that drag performers must not make much money. How can you claim to make custom drag outfits but not be aware that many of us make hundreds per gig? I was considering one of the bodysuits (still overpriced - $250 for kind of a basic bodysuit is not it) but he snatched it out of my hands. It wasn't a total waste of time though. I got lots of ideas for outfits to make and some pictures for reference! Obviously will have to be elevated a bit, but good ideas to start with. I went into the store over the weekend because it looked really cool. I was right, everything was absolutely amazing and one of a kind! The sale associate that was there had asked me what I was looking for and I just told them "Oh, I'm just looking" because I honestly just was. It seemed like they didn't like my answer and continued to mumble something. I couldn't really hear because the music was so loud. I turned to my boyfriend to ask him if he had heard what they said and we could only grab bits and pieces. I also wasn't sure if they were talking to me or to themselves because they would mumble something while making eye contact but then look straight forward. My boyfriend and I were the only ones in there. They were not friendly at all and I'm positive I saw them rolling their eyes. They clearly didn't want us in there so we left. What a shame. The best fashion boutique I've ever visited. I went in because the creativity of this beautiful place beckoned me. I was only window shopping with my family but soon, Cosmo was having us try on various items we would not have considered much less found on our own. His hit-rate was extremely high--he knows fashion and knows what works on different people based upon their individual needs. He's a world-class expert and he's clothed the famous and fabulous set and he's clothed ordinary muggles like me. We walked out with a ton of the most inspired articles we've ever owned. First of all, I have never left a review on any place, but I really felt that I had to in this case. I just bought my daughter's prom dress here (one of Cosmo's designs) and it was such a fantastic experience! The dress is just stunning, more like Met Gala than prom...Aside from the fact that the dress is beautiful, I could have stayed all day and hung out with Cosmo and his team!
