I have been going to Cosmo Nails for a long time and I have always been satisfied. I went for a gel pedicure last week and I did not have my usual person. It has been less than a week and all of the nails have peeled off. The girl kept looking at her watch and I knew she did not put enough polish on and she did not keep the light on long enough. Just don't. The place is dingy and dirty and I had three different people working on me. My nails look fine but a 40 minute service took an hour and a half because they kept doing a few steps and then I was waiting around for someone to get to me. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE customer service. I got my nails done on vacation a broke a nail. I called to make an appointment for a repair (as this is the salon I go to) and because I had it done at a different salon (mind you in Florida) they refused to see me, saying they don't know what products were used on my nails! It was a typical French manicure. The man that answered the phone was incredibly rude and hung up on me. He has a history of being a jerk to customers over the phone, a bully in fact. I have been a customer there for a long time but after being treated this way I will never return. Ever. *and to reply to the "owner" response, I had CANCELLED my appointment ONCE as my son had just been diagnosed with lymphoma in May of 2022.Less than 24 hours notice yes however this was extenuating circumstances. I was a walk in for a pedicure, front desk person was a little off putting as I didn't have an appt. She pointedly told me they will fit me in but I should have an appt next time. Okay fair enough. I then got a basic pedicure. It's basic. The place is clean the employees know what they are doing and it was ... basic... I scheduled an appointment to get a French dip manicure for a wedding. I went early in the morning when they opened in hopes I wouldn't be rushed. Not only was my service subpar (rushed, I had to ask for my cuticles to be done after the dip was on, and no hand massage) but my nails have already chipped. Thumb is the worst but both pointers have chipped as well. AND the bottom area is very sloppy. My appointment was a week ago. I've gotten my gel nails done here about three times now. PRO'S: * They are extremely accommodating to Walk-Ins! * The cleanliness and aesthetic of the salon is top-notch and is WAY better than average salons I've been to CON'S: * I'm not sure what or why.. but at least one of my nails has peeled off nearly a week after I get them done EVERY time I've visited. I've been getting Gel manicures for over six years and have never had this issue. I unfortunately won't be coming back because of this, as this is my third time having this issue. * My nails always appear "grown in" right after my visit! They don't put the polish close enough to my cuticle! * Each time I've gone here I've been rushed through my manicure with limited talking, and limited hospitality. Even after paying up front, my appointment was not guaranteed and I arrived 25 min before the supposed scheduled time. If you want your time getting your nails and toes done a relaxing time, this is not the place... This place does a phenomenal job on manicures and pedicures. But their customer service and socialization skills need big help. It's like a morgue in there. They are not friendly at all!However, my feet felt so soft after the pedicure and my shellac lasted almost 3 weeks. They just all seem so unhappy and sullen. My first time getting a gel French manicure & it wasn't great. POSITIVE: I walked in & got seated right away with no appointment - it was a Monday afternoon. NEGATIVE: 1) my manicure chipped three days later - that's never happened to me before; 2) they didn't have the nude color I wanted so the technician recommended a similar color but they were also out of that color too(?) so I ended up getting more of a pink color - meh. It was hard to tell the color tone bc it's pretty dark inside the salon; 3) there was no hand massage nor warm towel service - bummer. Side note: during my service another customer came in & I overheard her complain about her gel manicure chipping within a couple days too - but they did fit her in to fix it. Unfortunately I'm not in chapel hill area too often so I didn't bother going back. Aren't gel manicures supposed to last at least two weeks? Sadly not worth the $45. read more

This was my first time here. I booked online, because I wasn't sure how busy they would be. I got a basic mani and pedi by Yen. My first impressions with how clean it was in the salon, and the fact that the smell of acetone and nail polish didn't smack me in the face when I walked in which is a first! I was greeted by everyone and was taken back for my pedicure first, then had my manicure after. I do appreciate how they did not try to up sell what I originally came in for. I have been to far too many places where they pressure sell you into getting more than what you want. Yen did a fantastic job, she was clean, sanitary and very professional! Rude customer service - Average Manicure. Won't be going back. This was my first time at the salon. I received a Gel manicure. The technician was did not communicate well and the woman at the front desk was rude. When told to pick out colors - I was showed two types, some that were $25 and some that were $30. No big deal but ended up liking a $25 color best (bonus!). Come to find out at the end of my manicure that it actually was $30 because of the Base/Top coat were "special" and I needed to ask for the "not special" base/top coat. I could care less about paying the extra $5 but I think this should be communicated to you before the technician just puts it on without asking you. When brought this up to the front desk, the secretary was extremely rude. Customer service is clearly not a priority. We wanted to let her know that it was not communicated properly for future customers. That is ALL! She became very defensive and said "she didn't know what she wanted her to do". I enjoy coming to this salon, however since the price increase and the new online booking system, I am NEVER able to get a same day appointment. I have even called. They either need to have more staff scheduled for appointments like this, or come up with a better system. Before I could call the salon and get in sometime that day. The price increase, is a bit much if you ask me. The dip increase to $6 was a shock and the spa pedicure for the same products increased to $60- a $10 price hike. I honestly don't believe that the reason is for the increase in cleaning the salon, because they use the same products as they did before the increase. And besides, with the vaccination rate on the rise and the decrease in patrons required to wear masks, there shouldn't be a "COVID" reason to increase prices as they did. These practices should have been followed prior to the pandemic outbreak. Some patrons I have talked to while getting my services completed, think that the salon increased their prices because the owners feel they are justified because the salon is located in "Chapel View." I am not sure but its one thing to increase prices, if the services you are receiving changed, but if they didn't the prices should remain the same. read more

I'm bummed to be writing this review and to have to find a new salon after two years, but the last appointment was my breaking point. I always book my appointments online and have never had to wait more than a few minutes. I've tolerated the declining quality in my dips since Vinh left because I like the ease of booking and color selections, but the decline is noticeable. I got there 5-10 mins before my appointment began and was told my tech was finishing someone up and another tech would wrap my nails while I waited. No problem. I sat down at an empty station and waited 10 mins before anyone even looked my way. She started roughly working on my nails and then abruptly stopped, after cutting me a few a times, to take another client. Nails still not wrapped. Another 10 mins passed until the owner finally made someone come wrap my nails. I then waited another 20 mins before my tech actually started on my nails. Literally watched people come in after me and leave before me. I assumed she had tried to squeeze in a walk-in, which is bad enough coming from a place that is so strict about lateness. But no, she actually just forgot she had an appointment before me and went to get tea. They had to call her to come back to the salon. Story relayed to me while laughing. Not only did the salon not give me a heads up that my tech was running 40 mins behind, but the pettiness of all of the other techs not wanting to help me because it wasn't their screw up was the final straw. This place does not value loyalty or your time and are charging WAY more for less. Beware. read more

I asked for a medium length, almond, full set, of pink to white ombré acrylics with one sparkle crystal on each ring finger as an accent. They glued the tips on and did a lot of the dipping powder to achieve the desired look. They are slightly rounder and bulkier in shape than my normal almond manicure that I get...but I was so happy to finally have nails on again I was willing to over look the slightly less than perfect shaping. I believe it cost around $60 plus tax and tip. I felt it was clean enough with mandatory hand sanitizer, everyone in masks, and barriers for covid. Customer service was really good here! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SALON. My sister and I have been going to Cosmo nails for at least 15 years. Our last few appointments have been TERRIBLE. The last 2 times I had last appointment of the day and waited 20-25 mins to get my pedi. I understand things run late, but if I showed up 20 mins late I would have been charged and my service cancelled. Our last appt was this past Tuesday night 8/23 and BOTH of our feet are a dry mess, her polish has a dent in it from the nail tech who just put clear over it and said it would "smooth out" & my polish is chipped! It hasn't even been 48 hours. I called to try and go in to get it fixed and the receptionist became rude and uncooperative. Trying to sell me with "we can't guarantee regular polish but gel lasts 2 weeks". First of all, not everyone likes or can get gel. And are you seriously trying to say that regular polish doesn't last 36 hours because that's how long it was until it chipped! I have a special occasion this weekend and begged to go in Saturday morning since we both WORK, but she refused. Needless to say, my sister and I will NEVER go there again. SO SO disappointed! You couldn't fit a polish change in on a Saturday morning? It takes 10 mins, I JUST HAD A PEDICURE! I find that very hard to believe. And for $42, I expect better service. Would I have been refused if I just walked in? We will never know.... I'm completely disgusted. Do NOT go to this salon. I've always loved cosmo nails, been going here for a year now. although I always make appointments, there have been times I've gone in and asked for a gel pedicure as well and they have accommodated me.(even though they were super busy). The pedicures are done really well and the gel polish from my last one has lasted over 3 weeks now. They do a great job with the manicures as well, and the polish is always applied perfectly even. Went in with my 9 yr old for manicures and pedicures. Upon entering we were asked to sanitize our hands and at the desk and nail stations there are plexiglass partitions separating the customer and the technician. The whole place was very clean, the technicians were friendly, offered additional services but weren't pushy at all. Over all great experience and service, my basic manicure lasted almost a full two weeks (I'm a nurse, I scrub my hands and use sanitizer constantly so thats pretty impressive) Would absolutely go back again. read more

I came here for a pedicure a few months ago. During my pedicure I commented that it was uncomfortable many times. My nail technician looked at me somewhat unsympathetically and continued (not sure if there was a language barrier). At one point, my big toe was bleeding. My toes hurt for a while after my pedicure to the point that I went to a podiatrist. Turns out I had 4 Ingrown toenails and an infection on both big toes requiring a topical antibiotic. She said this was due to improper procedures. I am still in pain and requiring antibiotic treatment now. I have been getting pedicures for many years and this has never happened to me. I recommend everyone beware. This place needs to review hygiene and training protocols. read more

Made a scheduled appointment and left work early to get there for 2 pm because they didn't have a 3pm available. I arrived 10 minutes early as I didn't want to be late and might I add a FIRST time client. I was asked to sit and wait and it would be about 10-15 mins. I had no issue with that since I was a little early. The owner walked by me 15 mins later and told me it would be a few minutes than doesn't come out from the back until another 15 mins later. At this point I have been sitting waiting for my appointment for 30 mins and that is not including the 10 mins I was early. I told him I was leaving and that they could have least called to tell me they were running late. Very unprofessional and especially not a way to treat a first time client. I paid $50 for a standard manicure for two people (one French) on a Tuesday afternoon. The French manicure was poor from the start. The white portion fell below the natural end of the nail so looked ridiculous. Plus, the line for the white portion was choppy at best. The other manicure looked OK at first. Both were chipped and peeling within three days and looked awful. The manicures I do at home look better and last longer. Save yourself some money and either do it yourself or choose another salon. read more

Initially I came in upset about my nail it broke after just two days. The soonest I was able to come in was a week later. They told me I would have to pay to get the one nail fixed, which I was upset about. But in the end they choose not to charge me which I appreciated. For me it's all about the customer service. I'm giving Cosmo Nails 2 stars, for their clean and updated-ish decor. I stopped in here on a weekday afternoon to get a shellac manicure and regular pedicure and was surprised at how rude and indifferent the staff was. They could have cared less that a customer was there and I felt like I was inconveniencing the older lady who did my nails. She seemed pissed the entire time she did my nails, even muttering "OH NO" when she saw my cuticles (dude, I know they're not in the best shape- that's why I'm here!). Long story short, she totally screwed up my shellac manicure and spent twice as long as it normally would take. I didn't have the time for her to remove them and start over so they basically became giant blobs of shellac polish on my fingertips. Horrible. Lasted 4 days until they peeled off and cost me $65-- 20% more than I spend at my normal salon for the same service. Totally disappointing experience and filled my heart with regret for ever straying for my regular nail salon. If you like to pay more for rude service, this is the place for you. read more

Charged me so much money (70 for a regular french) and not even 6 days later my nails were lifted, cracking, I had to go to another REPUTABLE place to then pay again to get these fixed. They skipped so many steps, didnt mix the acrylic right. This place should be closed down. She didnt even push my cuticles back to properly do my nails, but then clipped me, made me bleed, went over it with the sander, and gave me a nice infection since her tools werent clean at all. I should have known the "mood lighting" was more for you to not see how horrible your nails come out. I wish I could give them lower then 1 star. Please, stay away from this place, give your money to somewhere more knowledgeable, cleaner, and wont have ur nails lift in under a week! read more

Im a guy so rating nail salons is probably not my strong suit. The thing I love about this place is you never have to wait. Yes it says walk ins on the door but this is really a call ahead nail salon. $30 bucks to not have to cut my toenails? Sounds good to me. This place is CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN and I have never had a problem. The salon has an updated decor complete with TVs and comfortable chairs. The only positive thing I could say about Cosmo is that it is extremely clean. However, the price to get a gel polish was $30 (typical for most salons but I'm not complaining), with $5 being a polish removal. I never had polish on my hands when I went in and the charge was added on. Also, the paint job on my nails was horrendous. Thick and chunky with small hairs from the paint brush stuck. This was my first time at Cosmo Nails. Called the morning of and got a mani pedi appt no problem! Clean salon with very comfortable lighting. (No strip mall flourescent lights here!) Great pedi chairs. Just enough conversation while still getting to relax. The most thorough gel mani I have ever gotten! The technician took her time and was an absolute perfectionist. A little bit pricier than the strip mall joints but not by much and the quality more than makes up for it I'll definitely be returning! read more
