He provided extremely detailed responses to my questions about the work we wanted done that I don't think another handyman would provide for free, EVER. On top of the fact that Scott gave me an extremely reasonable quote, it was a no brainer to hire S&S. Scott helped us expertly cut the bottom of one of our doors to make room for a high pile rug as well as hang a few items on our walls. Everything came out great with no surprises. He was flexible with scheduling, showed up on time, and we had some good laughs while he worked as well. All around great guy and a true professional. We'll be using S&S for all of our handyman needs moving forward.

On top of that, they are reasonably priced. We have used Valera and his brother Nikolay multiple times at this point to mount a large TV and hang dozens of mirrors and large pieces of art. I hired NJH to repair damage to a restored antique mahogany staircase in my house…read more The newel post at the end of a section of the banister had separated from the handrail and was loosed at the base. That made this section of the banister wobbly, unsafe and prone to further damage. Prior and now failed repairs with mastic and nails were an eyesore and calling for further restoration work. Ben with Kellam's supervision closely conferred with me how to do the best structural and cosmetic restoration of the banister. They dismantled the newel post from the handrail and the mounting of the post to the staircase frame, and removed old nails and mastic from the post rails joint all without damage. To remove the post, they had to remove stapled carpeting and a stair tread that they replaced without damage at the end of the job. They very securely remounted the newel post with corner backets under the stair tread and long bolts into its base covered with matching round plugs. Having so securely remounted the post and restoring the post to rail mortise and tendon, the handrail was solidly secured without the further use of mastic, nails or screws. With a few touchups to old wood putty, they then managed to remove obvious evidence of prior repairs. As this section of handrail may need a restoration replacement to match the quality of the other staircase handrails, their method of reconnection rail to the post will allow for less problematic handrail replacement without damage.

In addition, I was very happy that he was able to take the curio to his workplace to do the repairs because with our large, very protective dog, it would have been difficult to have this work done in my house. I'm truly impressed with how he restored the curio to its original condition. This was definitely a project with all that was required; the curio had broken legs, detached pieces of metal fence-like railings, unsecured shelving, etc. To summarize, he did a super job and I highly recommend him!
