Wow. What a beautiful store. It's like walking into an upscale department store without all the push of a cosmetic girl. The team knows what they want. They have everything, literally something for everyone! I especially enjoy that they carry Creed fragrances. I was happy to find this gem on King Street after being disappointed with the disorganization, dusty items and lack of stock at the Sephora in JCP at Northwoods Mall. They have quite a few luxe brands and some that Sephora carries. They don't have full lines for the most part but do have a nicely curated selection with knowledgeable and friendly staff who were very patient and helpful. It was a pleasure to shop here and left feeling like it was a nice treat. read more

I'm going to be honest with you: I know nothing about makeup. My beauty routine is minimal and basic. I'm usually too intimidated to walk into a cosmetic shop because I don't know what I'm doing. The ladies at CosBar are wonderful! They put me at ease and answered all my novice makeup user questions without any judgement. Megan and Caren helped me find the right foundation and powder for an every day look and I left feeling like I knew what I was doing and feeling just a little bit prettier. I love this store and the people that worked the day I was there- I had never been to Charleston before, my friend drove us down (visiting from Chicago) and once we parked and took a couple steps there in front of me was Cos Bar-I could vaguely see "Armani" from inside and I knew I had to go in-The store is a scaled down Sephora, boutique with select lines, but good lines; Cle de Peau, Sisley, Yves Saint Laurent, Armani, Dior, Trish, NARS etc. As well skincare lines, perfumes, polishes etc. I had gotten a new shade of the Armani Luminous Silk foundation before my South Carolina trip, yet every time I'd look in the mirror of my rental car all I saw was an orange face, I looked bad-As well I kept getting these painful bumps on my forehead and hairline, so not normal for me- I just wanted to wash my face and start over that day and I decided to ask if I could do just that, wash my face and someone make me over-The manager on site that day said I could, I just needed to buy 3 items, which has been the easiest task of my life thus far-The manager asked what I was using to wash my face and I told him La Mer and he let me grab the testing items and go into the bathroom and wash away- Came out bare faced and the fun began-I was told that Cle de Peau would be really good for me, so I sat down and an artist named Shawn started on me-Very nice guy and worked his brush magic on me, he wouldn't have let me walked out with something that did not match my skin-Side note, this is the best foundation I have ever used and I'm a makeup whore so I have tried pretty much every product you can throw at me- Next I sat with Cameron Eubanks, yep, the girl from Real World: San Diego and Southern Charm and she applied bronzer and blush-Love the bronzer, I'm a makeup snob so I never use the Trish line, never really appealed to me, but the bronzer works for my skin tone-Used the face fabric clicky pen for blush and loved that product- Then I had the new Yves Saint Laurent Leather Fetish eye quad used on me and loved that as well, that is what I wanted on me in the first place so happy to get a softy smokey eye applied- I walked away with the products they used on me and Shawn was awesome and gave me 2 samples of the Cle de Peau skincare products-Still testing out and thinking of buying in the future- There is something about this store, it's smaller than Sephora, but feels clean, is clean and there are not annoying SA's that make you feel like you don't' know what a lipstick is-They know what they are talking about there and it was awesome to see they had Fall collections in the store- I seriously wish I could somehow work at a Cos Bar, possibly corporate b/c I love the store that much- If you are in the area stop in, they took care of me and Cameron was so sweet while I was a psycho fan and freaked out over her putting makeup on me-Sorry, just a sucker for reality shows! read more

Got my eyebrows threaded here last minute while in town for a wedding. The back area/room for threading isn't luxe, especially for the price of $20 for eyebrows, BUT the woman who threaded my eyebrows did a stellar job. Their product knowledge is incredible, and they don't hesitate to ask another staff member for help if they aren't certain about a certain product or line. I absolutely ADORE this store! CosBar is pretty much make-up/skin care heaven! Beautiful and intimate store, wide range and wonderful selection of great products, and a fantastic staff! Megan was absolutely wonderful! I was looking for a new powder foundation, and am very particular. She was exceptionally knowledgeable about all the product lines and helped me to find a powder that was exactly what I wanted. She really took the time to understand what I was looking for and get an idea of my style and preferences (as well as my budget). She showed me some other really great products (she introduced me to cream blush, which I now love) but was never pushy at all. She really listened to what I was looking for and took time and care in helping me find the perfect fit. I really can't say enough about how great my experience with was! I am a HUGE fan of Cos Bar located on King Street in Downtown Charleston! From the moment I walked in, I truly felt as though I was an adult woman entering her own version of a Willy-Wonka oasis... but I assure you, it is SO much better than any Candy Shop! I was not only captivated by their beautiful store and the vast selection of amazing products they carried, but by how immensely comfortable I felt upon entering. I was immediately greeted with a genuine warm welcome by several members of their lovely staff and after briefly browsing the store, I was fortunate enough to meet Kori, the store Manager who demonstrated an amazing knowledge base of every product. Kori took the time to really understand my needs and listen to what it was that I was looking for, the "problem-areas" that I was trying to improve, and so forth. I explained that as a newly single mother in my early to mid-thirties, I did NOT have a lot of time to invest in daily cleansing rituals and that if it wasn't quick, easy and ideally thoughtless, then it would most likely not be the best fit for me. I also mentioned having definitely noticed a rapid increase in shall we say, my "smile or laugh lines" and have been seriously considering fillers or Botox as the next step in my path to preservation. Not once did she scold me for my immensely disappointing skincare regimen; instead she put me right at ease and assured me that they would be able to offer some helpful suggestions. Enter Temptu- the rechargeable, time-saving and no -mess miracle of airbrushing your makeup from foundation to bronzer, blush and beyond in five minutes or less!!!! This device has not only saved my sanity but the amount of time saved with getting ready in the morning is immeasurable! I have received several compliments from people regarding my makeup and how "dewy" and fresh my skin looks! I was also introduced to several of Trish McEvoy's amazing products, including a new staple- the line filling concealer for eyes, it is the first concealer I can ever remember actually working after a single application and it lasted throughout the day! And for this summer, my new favorite is the shimmer body oil by Tom Ford- it smells amazing, just like you are on the beach! I put it on my legs and arms to not only moisturize but to give my skin a little bit of "glimmering glow." I could go on and on about how impressed I have been each time I visit Cos Bar, but I'm afraid being a review rookie, it may be counter-productive as my intent for this review is to help fellow shoppers looking for cosmetics (not annoy them with long-winded details)! The bottom line is the experience you have while shopping with Cos Bar is so much better than the other high-end beauty retailers out there. And thanks to the extraordinary caliber of hospitable customer service, (they started greeting me by my first name on my second visit... nice touch, right?) they have absolutely earned a customer for life! I would highly encourage anyone to stop by and see for themselves, you will not be disappointed! read more
