Ruben with Cortinas & Sons literally saved my life! I had been without air for 5 days in 105 degree days! And, at the same time, I am battling a bout of cancer! My home warranty company sent out a guy that put a motor and blades in my condenser. The blades were too big for the unit and was put in upside down! Within a day, it burnt out the new motor and shredded the new blades. They sent out Ruben for a 2nd opinion. He explained the faulty work but told me the new parts needed to be ordered from the manufacturer. My cat and I stayed at a hotel. We came back early the next morning and I hear rustling outside my bedroom window! Its Ruben! He found they had the parts and fixed my air conditioning. My hero! Not a hitch with the air since! We had them out recently to repair our heater through a claim with our home warranty service. The warranty service denied part of the repair they recommended and approve replacing another part, but i never heard from them. I called and the owner said let me call my son so he can take care of you, but then never called me back. I waited a few days and called again and he said the exact same thing, that he was going to talk to his son and call me back and never did. So anyway, poor customer service and they aren't reliable, I won't use them again. read more

TLDR; Save your money and avoid them, they took my money and disappeared My home warranty company had sent them and they looked at my unit and said the blower motor is burnt. My home warranty plan did not cover it. Cortinas and Sons quoted $750 to repair my unit. Mark Cortinas came and took a deposit of $440 first, telling he has to order the motor. Next day he replaced the blower motor but that did not fix the AC. He said it was the control board issue and it would take him only 10 minutes the next day. He took another $360. The next day ,he gave some excuse that "Dave, the Lennox guy" has not called him to give him the control board. Then he just went AWOL. Meanwhile, Rueben tried to sell me a new unit telling I should get a new one instead of fixing an old unit, but went silent when I asked them to just fix my unit. I had to call another company to fix my unit. It was a failed fan relay not a control board issue. Mark just made up things and I don't believe they are competent to diagnose/fix your issue. read more

I've been super impressed thus far and will be continuing to use Cortinas and Sons. It was a referral from our realtor. When we bought our house last summer (2018), we thought we were having A/C issues during the week of 110+ temperatures, but after Ruben took a look, we learned the A/C wasn't big enough to keep up. The A/C was super old and we knew we would need to replace it fairly quickly after buying the house, but after learning that, it moved up our timeline. I had Ruben give me a quote and I let him know we'd be planning for a spring installation. He was super patient and when I reached back out this month, he was very prompt in his responses and had me on the schedule for the following week to replace both the A/C and furnace and not only replace the duct work, but actually improve air flow. For anyone looking to replace their A/C and/or furnace, I would highly recommend giving them a call. They have fair pricing and are very knowledgeable. They aren't there to just install a new unit, but rather look at ways to improve your system and help save you money. What I was most impressed by is they put a lot of effort into cleaning up afterwards so you can't even tell what happened. I expected a lot of dust some random debris when I got home, but that wasn't the case. And I also appreciated the thoroughness at the end to make sure the air flow was just right and walking me through everything. I was incredibly happy with the outcome! I feel very fortunate to have found this company and the great experience I've had with them. I would highly recommend them for any HVAC needs! read more

Awful. Ruben's son did the install of my new units and messed up so badly Ruben had to come out and try and fix the problems himself. He attempted to just smooth things over when, in actuality, he needed to start the job again from scratch. As a result, I have had nothing but problems with both of my new units - both have overflowed water into my home on multiple occasions (my laundry room ceiling now sags from this water damage) and, after about 5-6 visits from Ruben, I finally had to call another company to fix the problem. Guess what! 4 years later and I'm having to replace one of the units because it was installed SO POORLY that it's been running wrong this entire time and I now have to pay $7,000 for another new unit. Had HVAC issue at home. My warranty company sent them to my house. The issue still existed 10 days after service so I called them and left a detailed voice message for a revisit. They never responded back. As a result, the issue still exists and warranty company said I have past 30 day window for a recall so I have to pay and create a new service request and wasted my first service call fee. read more

This company is a joke! Our home warranty company sent them out. The tech was here for all of 10 minutes - not very thorough nor helpful. PO has not been received by the warranty company in order to proceed and schedule "needed" repair. Cortinas does not return calls and most times doesn't answer the phone when called. Lets be honest, with a few 1-Star reviews, I was nervous. However, they came highly recommended to me from a good friend. With the past reviews in mind, I researched their determination of the issue. I can say, I understand the bad reviews. Their recommendation did cost more than another group that came out, HOWEVER, the other group did recommend a cheap work around. Personally, I prefer to pay a little extra to have the work done right the first time by someone that is honest, fair and does a phenomenal job. Came out at the request of our home warranty. Said our 25 year old AC unit's blower motor was out and needed to be replaced. Was here for five minutes and left. Didn't ask about maintenance, didn't ask if we change the filters (to which the answers are yes and yes), but told the warranty we didn't maintain it, who then proceeded to deny our claim. Super frustrated with this company and the warranty, but since they worked together, I would not recommend this company. :( read more

Terrible people! They came out to see why my heat was not working. Keep in mind that my AC blew cold, and fan was running fine just no heat. After they took it apart and tried to put it back together, my unit would not turn on and is completely broken. They tried to blame it on the breaker, but that was confirmed to not be an issue. Now, they are stating my motor WAS bad. THE SAME ONE THAT WAS WORKING UP UNTIL THEY MESSED WITH MY UNIT. Ruben with Cortinas & Sons just completed the second of two service calls for two different HVAC units at my home, both through my home warranty company. The first was a couple of winters ago when a furnace went out. It was a pretty extensive repair which involved replacing the whole furnace and plenum. The work was done as quoted and was done on the schedule they quoted with no problems. The second was today for an outside condenser that was not coming on. The repair was to replace a capacitor and literally took 5 minutes start to finish while I watched. I asked if he would mind looking at a clogged condensate drain that I just discovered last night and he did and cleared it for me at no charge. Horrible horrible service techs and manager. Very lazy. Came to townhouse on a service call AC not cooling. Replaces the Already clean filter and says that's all the problem. Doesn't want to go to 3rd floor where AC unit is. Doesn't check Freon. Just says you need a bigger AC. Even though the AC has been cooling fine all summer. Very unethical behavior. The place still hot and won't cool past 77deg. Companies negotiated pricing with a Home Warranty should not prevent customer from receiving a descent service. But it is very hard to argue this point when my family have been sweating through our shirts for a week and we are desperate for the AC system to work. The contractor knows this and is taking advantage of this situation. read more

They came for a home warranty service call. Claimed AC was full of cottonwood. It had some residual cottonwood on there but is was minimal as I had already taken care of that this summer. Now the home warranty is denying the claim. Avoid them especially if it is home warranty. They will not be on your side. read more

This company has been sent to my house on two occasions by Choice Home Warranty to repair by AC which wasn't cooling. Both times the Cortina service tech told me I needed a new compressor and I my unit was out of freon. Keep in mind, these are different AC units that control opposite ends of my house. The Cortina service tech told me the warranty company wouldn't cover these items because I "let the units get to this condition by being low on freon." The cost would be around $3000 but I needed an immediate "leak check" (which the warranty company also doesn't cover) and that would be $125. Each time I said "no" he put me on the phone with his boss and showed me pictures of the problem (which I seriously doubt were taken in my home.) Needless to say, on each occasion, I contacted Choice Home Warranty and requested a second opinion. BOTH times a different company was sent out and fixed my problem right away with covered parts. I DIDN'T NEED A COMPRESSOR EITHER TIME. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY!!!! read more
