After having some of the bread prior to our meals at a few restaurants, we found out the bread is locally sourced at a sister business right around the corner from where ate the night before. There is parking avail for customers in the lot for 30 mins, we prob waited about 20 mins and crossed the threshold into baked goods heaven. There was so much to select from - we got pastries, cookies, pizza and bread - and we pretty much liked everything. Our least favorite was the morning bun with walnuts - we didn't have it right away so that might've been part of the issue. Just note that the bread served at the restaurants aren't available until 2pm - we were leaving that morning so we weren't going wait for it. We opted for other loaves instead and they didn't disappoint. If you want something yummy and fresh - make sure to stop by here before heading out of Portland. I do wish the setup was a bit more conducive to the big crowds as there isn't much space from the front door to the counter but still a fantastic find!

The apple cider donuts were so thick and amazing, our guests were so happy with everything. The presentation of the desserts was also gorgeous and right on point with the aesthetic of our venue decor for the wedding. Thank you so much Jess!

She was absolutely lovely to work with! Very responsive to emails and phone calls, and super flexible and helpful with pairing flavors for us. She made a variety of mini-cupcakes and frostings for our tasting and each were delicious--even the margarita cake! As someone who does not like chocolate, I would have eaten the chocolate ganache frosting with gusto. We ended up choosing traditional flavors: red velvet with cream cheese frosting for the bottom (12") and top (6") tiers as well as vanilla with chocolate ganache for the middle (8"). We had just shy of 60 guests at our wedding and were able to take the entire top tier home. She understood the type of design we wanted for our cake (very simple and clean, which required the use of fondant). Our guests enjoyed the taste, though they thought it was "a bit sweet" (probably due to the fondant). The style was what was in my head but not executed as cleanly as I would have liked--in the days before Pinterest, brides didn't have 1,000 images to show their baker, after all--but I was still happy with the price, taste, and service and would recommend her to friends. I'm pleased to see that she now has her own storefront. I have yet to visit, but plan to rectify that soon.

On a Saturday morning at 8am it was mostly breakfast items, with a few lunch-ish items sprinkled in. There are some desserts, but only a handful...perhaps those come out later in the day. Every item in the case has its own little sign so it is very clear what everything is and how much it costs. I love that! I tried one of each flavor of the onigiri, the blueberry tart, the lemon ricotta tart, strawberry rhubarb danish, and the cinnamon bun. Honestly...everything was so delicious, so fresh, so unique. The flavors in each item were special in some way, definitely not your typical Panera baked goods...definitely a notch above. Will be back for sure

But my favorite treat was the twice baked chocolate almond croissant. It was amazing. The ANZAC was good. Ana I can't remember the other goodies I tasted.

"Oh, sister, when I come to lie in your arms You should not…read moretreat me like a stranger" (Bob Dylan) Did you hear the one about how a tiny home bakery from Maine enters a national cookie contest and walks away with six awards for their Cran-Raisin-Orange Walnut and Lemon Ricotta cookies? Well, if you heard about that, you are no doubt familiar with My 3 Sisters Italian Cookies of Portland, Maine. They are all over the Northeast at Farmer's Markets and such. My 3 Sisters don't have a website, but you can track them down on Facebook, Instagram and Etsy. Their Etsy page is where you can order. We found them at the Kennebunkport Farmer's Market where four varieties of their cookies were on sale - Chocolate Volcano, Lemon Ricotta, Cran-Raisin Orange, and Italian Butter. We bought a Lemon Ricotta, one Cran-Raisin Orange, and a small Whoopie Pie. We loved all of them, but if I needed to pick my favorite it would be that Cran-Orange. Fantastic flavors! Their Etsy page tells the story of their recipes. They've "been in my family for generations and we were taught how to cook by our grandparents. We use local ingredients and small batches to make sure the quality is in every cookie. (They) have no preservatives...so when you receive them they are individually packaged and have a shelf life of about 2-3 weeks. Or you can use a freezer bag and freeze them up to 6 months." I love seeing small home-based businesses flourish, and My 3 Sisters sure is a prime example of how great products can lead to a succesful pursuit of the American Dream.
