Glengarry Castle Hotel - Venison Carpaccio, Horseradish, Walnut, Rocket

From the moment we walked through the gigantic doors we were greeted with the warmth and hospitality of Scotland's past. The staff at the hotel was exceptional, professional and friendly. The hotel itself is so charming -- the lobby, lounge and library exude elegance and sophistication of Scotland history. Our room was clean, spacious and tastefully, historically decorated and the bed was very comfortable. The ensuite bathroom was bright and clean and a nice size. The grounds were beautiful and we enjoyed a walk to the Invergarry Castle ruins. One of the highlights of our stay was the breathtaking panoramic view from our suite that overlooked the loch. It was simply mesmerizing and peaceful, especially during sunrise and sunset. The hotel's lounge and library were the perfect spots to unwind with a nightcap in front of a roaring fire. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel multiple days and each were excellent and exceeded our expectations in both service, quality and deliciousness. During our stay we did day road trips from the hotel and we always looked forward to returning to relax in the lounge with a drink and reflect on our day's adventures. If you are visiting the Invergarry area, we highly recommend Glengarry Castle Hotel for an unforgettable experience.

Although this bad news could not make our situation any better after wearing our unmentionables for 3 days straight....her warm hospitality and the very clean room made ALL the DIFFERENCE!!! Remember all though this establishment advertises as a castle hotel, the contenintal breakfast or Full scottish breakfast is included at no charge, like a bed n breakfast. There are Invergarry castle ruins on the property as well as a very cold river nearby in which we spotted children paddling in a floating raft as their guardians were fishing off a boat. There is a beautiful walkway on the dirt path along side the green garden but I don't recommend wheelchair users to roam on this path without supervision...too many holes and bumps. Cable channels are free, you can purchase dinner for an additional 70 sterling pounds, and the fresh breakfast is fulfillingly tasty. The view from the dining room is glorious although the weather changed from windy grey cloud skies to hail storm and then rain and then sunshine. Completely unpredictable, as expected for UK weather. Go for the experience!

Augustus and Glencoe, causing it to close for over 7 hrs, we found ourselves in need of hotel rooms. Back to The Lovat we went. The prix fixed dinner was delicious. First they sat us down in a lounge/sitting room for "snacks" while we played cards, then we were taken to the dining room for dinner. They presented each course, explaining the preparation, etc. We really enjoyed our experience and the delicious food. Everything was presented beautifully. We stayed in the garden rooms which are a newer addition to the hotel. They had great views. The rooms were clean and they provided goodies in the coffee/tea/refrigerator area. We all really enjoyed our time in Fort Augustus and look forward to visiting The Lovat and Station Road restaurant again.

The Station Road restaurant to their Afternoon Teas are inspired with the beauty that each season brings. Fresh flavors, delightful aromas and colours, and fresh ingredients grown in the Lovat kitchen gardens. You can enjoy a real farm to table experience! The service was very attentive and courteous. They offered me a glass of champagne for the birthday. The ambiance was glassy and country chic with a great attention to details. The portions are on the small side as the emphasis is placed on design and presentation of the dish. The lamb was absolutely exquisite.

I have had way worster experiences and I feel like these reviews are more for the hotel itself rather than just the restaurant itself so I do want to be somewhat fair. With all that being said... I can't confidently recommend the restaurant here. The Caesar salad was literally the only thing that was somewhat edible. I had been in Scotland for almost a week at this point and it was also the first time that I had ever been charged for water. That was something I kinda wished they would have mentioned to us if they were going to do that. That's not cool man. It really comes off as shady. For food I ordered the Seafood Risotto and there was practically no flavor. When I asked my friends how they felt about their dishes, it was unanimous around the table. Maybe the chef just quit the night before and they were trying to make do with what they have and know? It's just weird right? You see the pictures and see how cool The Inch looks inside and out and just figure if they have a restaurant that it's going to have at least "some" form of quality to the food. But there was none to be found unfortunately and you are left just feeling like this place is a tourist trap. So yea can't recommend the food here. Then again it is a small area. Maybe that's just all the people know? It'd be really sad if that was actually the case. My only hope is that the staying there for the night is an actual 5 star experience.

When we checked in the lovely girl came outside to greet us. It was the sweetest hotel check in ever!! Our room was lovely. There's a huge living room with a fireplace that they lit downstairs. It was absolutely beautiful and peaceful. The food in the restaurant was superior. They rent out the whole place for weddings and I'm trying to talk my best friend into getting married there it was so great.

The Whitebridge has a long reputation for being a local staple as well as a community support. This comes as no surprise as it is comfortable, traditional (maybe a little eccentric), and features local produce and goods. Built in 1899, it has retained all the charm that visitors to the area might hope for. Our party had several meals there (breakfast and dinner) and found the food and service to be very good. We made certain to book a reservation each evening to be sure we could dine comfortably and found the dining room to be full more often than not. My favorite menu item may be the Angry Stag, a Highland spiced venison burger with applewood smoked chaddar, sriracha mayo, and house-made pickled jalapenos. I can also speak well of their lasagna, which I found to be hearty and filling. The pub is well-stocked with an extensive selection of Scottish whisky, regionally-produced small-batch gins, and local ales. I enjoyed a new-to-me gin (and tonic) each evening I was there. The Whitebridge had just changed hands the week before our arrival (early November 2025) which will, no doubt, influence the feel of the place in the years to come. As the new owners are aware of the place The Whitebridge holds in the area, I imagine that will only be enhanced. Things to know: * The Whitebridge's picturesque location means it is not close to petrol or other services. * Loch Ness is close. Travel time to the southern end (Fort Augustus) is about 20 minutes. About 40 minutes north to Inverness. * The Whitebridge is dog-friendly.

We arrived as early in the afternoon as possible as we had hopes it would be worth it. We wound around the drive to the 2 story house and parked our car. We wandered in as the husband of the house(it's a husband and wife that own it), was by the front door. He gave us a tour of the beautiful house, including the breakfast area and guided us to our room. Our room was called the Ben Nevis. Fitting, as it had an awesome view of, the Ben Nevis! It had a hat of clouds on but the valley below was just as great. The room was open and cozy at the same time with many accouterments. The location was great as there was a restaurant right near by that was walking distance. the next morn we had an excellent breakfast with toast, many cheeses and meats and some salmon.
