Family-friendly hike in Malibu. The trailhead is located right off the PCH, next to Malibu Seafood. It's $12 to park in the small lot, or you can find free parking along the PCH. A porta-potty is available by the trailhead. Though short (~2.5 miles), it's a nice trail and pretty popular among families with young kids. The trail is exposed with no shade. It's narrow and there are lot of tall plants that scratch a bit, so you may wish to wear pants rather than shorts. There is a gradual elevation change, but not challenging. There is a point at the hike where you can veer off path, but that'll take you to a different trail that's considerably longer.

Great hike with amazing views! I believe there are multiple routes to take but this is what we did: we started on the path to the right. It goes downhill for a bit which seems odd at first but it's correct! You'll make a left and continue through the path. There is some incline in the beginning but I would say it's an easy hike for the most part! There is a portion of the hike that is kinda scary since you're on a ledge and it's just loose rocks beneath you. Once you get to the top with the amazing view, continue and follow the downhill path! It's quicker than going back down the way you came from. And then you're back at the parking lot! If you take the reverse route, the incline is rougher. They have portable restrooms available to use at the parking lot as well. We ended the hike with a fish and chips located right next to the parking lot.

Let's wander where the wifi is weak and the call of nature is loud. Without further ado let's begin this hiking review. Corral Canyon Park is a 1,000-acre land in Malibu. This is the only canyon on the Los Angeles County side of the range that remains undeveloped from the ridge top down to PCH, allowing the 2.5-mile loop through the park to plunge hikers in to a world of natural scenery and vegetation. Corral Canyon Loop begins at Sara Wan Trailhead, which is located just off PCH next to Malibu Seafood and Deli. There's a small parking lot ($12) by the park, however, free parking is available by the PCH side road. The trail has a steady and gradual elevation gain of 531 feet. The trail consist of narrow paths, rough terrain, wild plants, lizards and birds. Currently, it's very dry due to remnants of the last wild fire. Furthermore, it offers a great view of the ocean. For me this was an easy hike and perfect for a novice hiker. It took me 1.5 hrs of walking and jogging and occasional stop to take photos along the way to complete the loop. Other hikers I met were friendly and respectful, for instance, a young woman gave a sheepish smile. Overall, I enjoyed my time and hiking experience in this park. I highly recommend this place if you prefer a short and easy hike with ocean view.

Not much of a reviewer herbut had such a lovely time and did this hike under 45 min. (Proud moment) After our hike we ended at Malibu Seafood Market... I highly recommend.

Route yourself to the seafood market for a more accurate address to hike! I haven't worked out in yearssssss and it's a very easy hike! Minimal incline and it loops around so you don't have to worry about going down the same way you went up! You get the view of the ocean the entire way but the path is very narrow (single file lines) so it's kind of hard to get pictures but you can make it work! It gets hot so go as early in the morning as possible! 40oz of water for two adults and two dogs was not enough! Bring twice as much if you can! Parking is $8 but there's parking on PCH across the street but you'd have to j-walk back and forth through ongoing traffic so it's up to your preference!

I went back in August so nothing was in blossom but it was still a beautiful day for a hike.

This Malibu trail has a lot of potential to be a really nice easy hike. Parking was super easy to find on PCH just make sure to slow down coming down that hill you really pick up speed. The trail starts right past the Malibu seafood sign and over the little bridge or you can use some other little trails to get on the main one. The beginning of the trail starts uphill and then you get an opening where you can see the water (it's beautiful). Then as you continue going up it got a little confusing for me on which way I should be going when there was a fork in the trail. Needless to say I went left where the trail kept feeling skinnier and skinnier and the weeds were super overgrown and hitting me in my face lol. After 15 minutes of hoping it would let up it didn't so then I turned around. All the other photos in the spring look really pretty so that's when I would recommend going.

Beginner trail. It is a beautiful loop trail that takes you to a gorgeous view of the Pacific Ocean and Pacific Coast Highway. Beautiful place to watch the sunset. It's roughly two miles to complete the loop. The loop has a few easy switchbacks. Nice maintained trail. Elevation gain is a little over 500 feet.

What a great hike and you have so many options kind of like Runyon but no steps. You have the option to take a steep intense hill which was what I did, I more straight path with some small inclines or just walk into the hills and back around, all offer great views of the ocean and city and the best part if that it's not crowded with people. I saw 3 people the entire hike which I love especially during this covid time. I like to jog when hiking so it feels great to not have to stop on a narrow path for someone. Will go again and wonder off next time to see where it takes me. This time was just for a workout and ran up the hill. Perfect for a date can do a quick hike and picnic at the top.

You can either do a super steep but direct trail to the top (PAINNN), or you can do this less-inclined trail that leads to the same place

One of my favorite hikes! It's so pretty! You can use Malibu Seafood Fresh Fish Market & Patio Cafe as a navigating point, as the trail head leaves right from the restaurant's parking lot. The lot does get full quickly, and you need to pay for lot parking, but street parking is totally fine and free as well! I live in South LA and it takes me about an hour to get out to the trailhead. There have been a couple times where there was an accident on PCH heading toward the hike which was super frustrating (since PCH is your only choice for getting there), or just general traffic heading back into LA. Keep in mind that PCH can get blocked up, and queue up some podcasts to pass the time! Even with traffic, you won't regret the trip at all. It's such a beautiful hike with panoramic views on the ocean, and if you adjust your speed anyone can do this! My mom never ever hikes or works out, and even she made it to the top. My boyfriend and I made an event of this over the weekend. We initially passed the trail head and drove a little further up PCH (about 15mins) to El Matador State Beach, where there are beautiful sea caves! We were late arriving to Malibu (got there about 3pm) but were still able to leisurely see the caves and hike to the top of Corral Canyon, although I do recommend arriving earlier to give yourself more time for soaking in views. Its definitely one of those perfect Sunday plans that I recommend to everyone!

First trail with the family! My little one 4 years old had a great time. Lots of lizards which was a plus for my son. Easy smooth trail love the views. Would recommend for beginners and little ones.

The overgrown plants I had to battle through to get through the trail. Not fun!
    Liz P.

I could see this trail being beautiful in the spring time like the pictures others posted but when I went here a couple days ago, it was far from it. The trail is not very well maintained so you'll be battling through a lot of overgrown and dead plants. Plus there are no signs throughout the trail so I had no idea where I was going. The trail is a loop but you can easily miss this if you make a wrong turn. The only plus was the beautiful ocean view. Street parking was very easy to find, even on a busy weekend.

    Eliza R.

This is good solid workout kind of hike but with little to no frills. You get gorgeous ocean views on the way down after climbing up, up and up. If you want a harder hike, start from the PCH end of the trail (it's right off of PCH, just east of the parking lot). It's much steeper and really gets all up in the buttocks. If you want it a little easier (a little), take the trailhead from the parking lot. Do not do this hike when it's hot and you're better off coming in the Spring. Today on the hike, it was too hot and the dried out bushes scratched my friend and me the whole way. Also, note that there are some trashy dog owners who leave their dogs' poop on the trail, so be on the lookout for that. Best part is post hike. Go right on ahead and order some of the delicious Fish N Chips at the Malibu Seafood Fresh Fish Market and Patio Cafe adjacent to the hike's parking lot. You earned it! I shared the two fish & fries with my hiking companion and we couldn't finish all of it, so sharing is the way to go and prices are very reasonable.

This way, the climb felt more gradual at first and gave us those rewarding canyon-top views with the canyon on one side and the ocean on the other. We tried to stop somewhere in LA that looks cool, but there was no parking and waaaaay too many people to leave our car packed with luggage. So I hopped on Yelp to find a new spot that looked away from the city, and this was perfect. It was quiet and beautiful, and its simplicity was very engaging for my kids 5-8years. We've all heard of PTSD…read more... You know, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. But have you heard of PDSB?? (I'll break this one down in a bit) Well, if you've read any of my other reviews of the picturesque beaches in Southern California, your PTSD of "here we go again, another review about white sandy beaches, moderate temp. waters and picture perfect sunsets" by Lance L. just might kick in. But bear with me, because this review, you're definitely not gonna want to skip. So what is PDSB you ask? Well Point Dume State Beach of course! Yes, one of Malibu's finest & for good reason too! Sure, when everyone thinks about beaches in Malibu... For those with families, It's usually Zuma Beach, but that's where EVERYBODY goes and because of this, it's ALWAYS packed! And of course, there's where all the surfers go.... Surfrider Beach, hence the name! But Surfrider is for hangin' 10 and you just might get a big stare down by the locals. But Point Dume State Beach or PDSB as I know you will now refer to it is about to be your new favorite. Here's why: A pay lot which sounds like it sucks to have to pay just to go to the beach, but the minimal cost ($6-$15 depending the season) is worth it. The lot is literally parallel to the beach and once you park, you are right on the sand! In addition, Point Dume State Beach, although smaller than Zuma is pretty decent because it's not as well known about so you will definitely find a place to plant that umbrella and set up your beach towel to watch the kids play, throw a football around or work on your tan lines. As far as Safety, Not only is lifeguard towers right on the sand, but a lifeguard headquarters office is also onsite, so if something goes south, help is very nearby. Point Dume State Beach does have fairly maintained, public restrooms that's are serviced regularly by the beaches and harbors maintenance team as well as a few porta-potties onsite for use. The beaches themselves are clean and do not have a lot of trash, debris or tar like some of the beaches that I've been to up North on the Ventura County Side (Oxnard & Ventura beaches). And the best part, some of the best sunsets you can catch on this part of the coastline. Besides the actual beach, you can actually hike from the beach side itself up the Point Dume hiking trail to get an even better view or jump off the cliff if you dare. But.... Please, Please, Just make sure you are a solid swimmer if you are a real swimmer thrill seeker as the water near the cliff is rocky and the currents are very unforgiving. There are always calls for service where Lifeguards, Firefighters and the Sheriff's department are on scene performing rescues, but unfortunately, sometimes are unsuccessful and people have tragically drowned. So maybe leave the Olympic style diving into the Big Blue to the pros. And now that you probably have actual PTSD from me telling you how you could actually die if you aren't careful.... Maybe just shake it off and get some PDSB instead and enjoy the Best of Malibu from the safety of your seat right on the sand! "Life's a Beach, Enjoy it!"

It's popular among locals for its peaceful atmosphere, views of the hills and ocean, and a place where kids, dogs, and adults can all relax. Perfect spot to have a picnic with no loud noises. Very calm peaceful park.

I suspect they replaced the ground material in the park. I discovered this park before DogPPL but now that we can't get to DogPPL because of the road closures. we are back at free Trancas! I love it because it's huge. However, there is no delineation between large and small, it's one giant park. It's way out by Trancas and just a quick drive up into the canyon from the Vintage Grocer, another store I love! So you can pop in at the vintage grocer and grab some snacks for yourself or after you get finished with the dog park you can swing down there and stop at one of the restaurants. I know Kristy's is located in the center now as well as the brewery. The location of the dog park is impressively scenic as far as dog parks go. There are canyon and ocean views. The restrooms are generally pretty clean; they've never been filthy even though they are ranger maintained public facilities. There's a really cute little kids playground that has the squishy ground, which feels so nice to walk on and then of course the gigantic soccer field. There's plenty of free parking and it's never been crowded. I have had some negative dog encounters here because it is so quiet people will sometimes bring less than fully socialized dogs here. So you have to be cautious and monitor your dog if they're not in the park alone. But that's any dog park. And as a dog owner, we owe it to our pups to monitor them. There's no cell phone service here at least for me with AT&T, but I do love the ocean views. It's really a great dog park. The picnic table is in the shade always helps us beat the heat. And although my dog doesn't jump over the little rails or going to the red tunnel, he loves that there's chaparral on the hill that he can go pee and sniff, and he loves all the trees in the park and the positioned rocks within the park. They're fun little obstacles for him and I to play hide and seek

My question is if they know about this major disconnect in communication between the two that is so bad that it's affecting customer reservations then why have they not fixed it at all? In regards to service it was horrible as the ranger Graceyn was extremely rude even laughing at our predicament and saying we were lying about our reservation, it was hard to even begin talking to her as before anything she didn't want to even talk to us and had to be convinced by another ranger to talk to us which was very weird behavior? I've never experienced such ungrounded rudeness before to the point where the other ranger seemed almost apologetic in the stead of Graceyn's behavior. I understand everyone has a bad day or long shift but this was beyond that so i highly do not recommend this place for the horrible communication and service experience. Very disappointing with the whole predicament but silver lining, we were able to transfer to another campground which was the best part of the service there so i'm thankful we at least were able to get that.
