Drove out to the parktoescape the SFV heat.such aa great experience for our lgged fur-babies and us, we ran into Benjay & Charlie's parents, they were so nice to chat with. charlie's Dad threw the ball for Daisy. The doggie park was perfect, had everything you need, plus you can't beat the amazingoceanview.

No grass but very pretty spot

Hard to find but a diamond in the rough. Well, it is Malibu so maybe not so rough. This area is beautiful. Surrounded by mountains and the sea. Wild flowers blooming for as far as the eye can see. It was not busy on a Sun afternoon as everyone was seemingly down at the beach. The dogs and people that we did encounter were very nice. The locals are so lucky to have this park. A lot of money goes into it for sure. It is very well maintained. The soccer park below is very green but not for dogs. You have to go up many stairs to get to the dog park area. 1 area. No separation for small and large dogs. The washrooms below were locked on this day but they was an outhouse. Ew. Stunk. But, when ya gotta go... There was water for the dogs and poop bags available. The ground was all sharp pebbles. Maybe not a good place to run your dog or to play ball. Mine is a ball nut and can run like the wind so I was too worried about her paw pads getting torn up to play much. A good, worthy stop though and would return for sure as there are not many places around to let dogs loose otherwise.

This review is for the playground. We ended up here for a 3 year olds birthday party and it is a gem. For a Saturday it was fairly empty and there is plenty to do and lots of space for kids to run around and explore. It overlooks the houses in Malibu and the ocean, and has ample parking and green space. The restrooms were also in good condition and I love me a themed park! 10 out of 10.

I had a $400 vet bill after the dog park gravel tore open the pads on my dog's feet like blisters. Notice her feet wrapped up!

Worst dog park ever. A few years ago, I had a $400 vet bill after my mini Aussie ran all over the gravel. The rocks tore open the pads on her feet like blisters. It was horrible! (And we hike and walk on gravel, concrete, etc often - her feet are not sensitive.) Even if there are fun dogs to play with, my dog won't do more than walk in this park anymore. Even then, she does so gingerly! The dog park itself is nothing but an enclosed pit of tiny pebbles and rocks. The gravel is harsh and sharp; not smooth like sand. There is no large/small dog side. The landscape is dotted with a few baby trees and large rocks. And there's a dirt hill in the back that some dogs enjoy running up and down. But beware - there's a large, open drainage pipe up there too. We don't come here often. While I appreciate that they were trying to be eco friendly, I can't wait until the City of Malibu realizes what a mistake they made with that gravel. It's hurting our dogs!!!

My poor baby after his paw pads got shredded from the gravel at Trancas Canyon Park.

So... I would have given this 5 stars because my dogs both loved it. One in particular was having the time of his life. But after we left, I noticed he seemed a little lethargic. I checked him out I noticed his poor paw pads were TOTALLY ripped up. $300 vet bill later and he is stuck in bandages and cone for a week! I am notifying the city. My other dog's paws are fine, but he did not run around at all. So I would say if your dog is chill and just wants to mosey around than this place is beautiful but if you have an active dog - be careful!

Beautiful playground tucked into the Trancas Canyon backdrop. The playground has lots for ages 2-10. There is a large field to kick the ball around. One of the playground sets has a bell your little ones can ring. And there is plenty of shade by the picnic tables.

Dogs have to be on a leash in the huge grassy area adjacent to dog park. Beautiful view of the Santa Monica Mts.

I'm no Dog Park Expert, but this place has everything a dog's companion could want: lots of open off-leash space, a doggie water fountain and convenient poop bags. And yes, as one reviewer noted the place is practically empty most of the time so it's not a good place if you're looking for a social scene for your dog. On the flip side, there's nothing wrong with having a huge space for your dog to run and go crazy. Everyone I've met there has been down to earth and genuinely friendly, which speaks volumes for the neighborhood.

The large grass field where we came across k9 obedience and agility.

Nice dog park (and playground if you have those types of little ones) that's just a short detour off and above the PCH.

So, there my small dog was, sitting in the small dog enclosure, just waiting for another dog to come in. Which, sadly, never happened... :( Instead, he watched the big dogs over in the big dog area play. I liked a couple things about the park like how breezy it was, how big each of the enclosures are, and how relatively well-kept it is. By relatively well-kept, I mean that I don't smell or see a lot of dog poop while I was there. What I didn't like about the park was how uneven the ground was. Not just in the dog enclosure, but in the dirt road and grassy areas before it. I also don't understand why they placed the parking lot so far from the gates, how steep the dirt road is to the top, and how little shade there is. Definitely some pros and cons to this dog park. I'll likely come back in the fall or spring when the weather gets cooler.

I like that there is some shade up by the park. The dog park isn't for me but I appreciate the layout of it with both the small dog section and the big dog section. It's not so much the park, it's the dog owners which made me take a break from this spot. Like other reviews said some people just aren't mindful dog owners and why they take their dogs to the park is beyond me. My dog is shy and attached to my hip so he didn't love the dog park to begin with. When I'd come here to this specific dog park there were enough instances of aggressive little dogs attacking other dogs that I kind of just became over this place. If I felt my dog was safe here I'd try to bring him more but with the little aggressive dogs & his disinterest we haven't been back for a long time. Some of my friends have said good things about this dog park so I'm sure it just depends on the day and which set of doggies you come across. My more updated review is for the pickleball courts. Came today and I enjoyed these courts. They are nicely painted and clean. My only upgrade is I wish they had more squares. Only two pickleball courts so if it's a busy day you'll definitely need to wait. However today wasn't too bad and we got to play a lot. Met a lot of nice fellow players and overall it was a good day. I like that the parking spots are close to the courts. Easy. A nice place to play as long as it isn't busy, wish they had more courts but I just doesn't seem like they have the room. I'll definitely be back though.

Not sure why people bring dogs who are not dog friendly to dog parks, but we've encountered that a few times at this dog park. If your dog is not dog-friendly, please don't bring them to a dog park. We try to go here, but I often end up taking him to De Anza Park, down the street. He can't be off-leash, but he likes it better. Which is sad, because he usually LOVES dog parks, and being around other dogs. But, more often than not, he immediately wants to leave, and prefers the other park
