Malibu Bluffs Park is one of those spots that feels like a little secret even though it's right off PCH. I stopped by on a sunny afternoon and ended up staying way longer than planned. The views alone are worth the visit: wide‑open ocean, Catalina on a clear day, and that classic Malibu coastline stretching forever. The park itself is super clean and well‑kept. There's plenty of open grass for picnics or just laying out, plus a nice walking path where you can wander without feeling rushed. Families were out with kids, a few people were doing yoga, and everyone just seemed relaxed. It has that mellow Malibu vibe without being pretentious. Parking can get a bit tight during peak times, but it's manageable. And even when it's busy, it never feels overcrowded because the space is so open. If you want a peaceful place to unwind, take in the ocean, or just breathe for a minute, Malibu Bluffs Park is an easy win. I'll definitely be back. read more

Some of the best things in life really are free - like this park and the parking lot! In the past 20+ years that I've been driving up and down the PCH I could have sworn this parking lot required payment but I was recently corrected! The parking lot is free! and the view of the ocean is simply breathtaking. When I get the chance I love visiting here with my family so that we can enjoy nature together and get some steps in for longevity. This is a beautiful park that has interesting paths to walk through. It feels like you're stepping into another world, and I love spaces that achieve this feeling. Sometimes I just want to get away from the madness of the world around me, which is something that this park can grant you. The bluffs overlook the PCH where you could see the Malibu houses. I'm not sure what they look like now, and I wish I captured photos. I didn't know that it would be one of the last times I could see those homes that before the fire. read more

Very nice park located off highway one across from Pepperdine. From this park you get stellar views of the ocean and the coastline. Within the park there are baseball diamonds, picnic benches and a kids playground. There is also a short path that circles the park. Off the park grounds there are some dirt trails that have steep inclines. You will also find plumbed toilets. This park also features parking. When baseball games are in progress, parking can be tough. read more

Had some ballfields, playground equipment in various spots, a paved walkway around it, a few exercise stations along the path, and some beautiful views of the ocean, although no beach access. This park is absolutely gorgeous! We wanted to take a picture with the big yellow hand but could not find it. There are a bunch of little trails and plenty of area for the kids to play as well. Parking is free. Make sure to bring an umbrella or wear lots of sunscreen since there is almost no shaded areas! read more

Malibu Bluffs Park rhetorically is the park in the Malibu park across from PCH(Pacific Coast Highway) and Pepperdine University. Have been a frequent visitor here and have recently being checking in, so this review is long overdue, but necessary. This is a 6 acre community park with ample flat grass areas for recreational sports play, picnicking and it's dog friendly. Because it across the highway, you have to traverse the dangerous PCH to access the beach, which I do NOT recommend. From the park you have views of Pepperdine University and spectacular views of Pacific Ocean and some killer views of the sunset. The best times to come here without the crowd is really early. There are boards with provide historical, terrain information, trails, and whale watching points to get the perfect vista. There are picnic tables and some benches. It's the perfect place to do a meditative workout of yoga, calisthenics, jog, run and walk your pooch. Fendi loves it here but she does prefer Palisades Park in Santa Monica because there are more trees that offers shade from the sun. The layout is open and more field like. The views are great and so is getting outdoors to breathe in the fresh ocean air. Recommend! read more

The location of this park is fantastic, with amazing views of the ocean. It's easy to find and they offer free parking, clean restrooms, play structure, and picnic tables. However this particular day was probably not the best day to visit. Parking lot was full so it was difficult to get a space, and the park was crowded with numerous groups gathering to celebrate birthdays. Because most of the grassy area is fenced off, everyone congregated in the first 20 feet of grass closest to the walkways - mostly by the trees. Normally I don't care, but with all the covid things going on right now, I kept my distance from the grass area. I saw a trail at the end of the park going down the hill. I'm not sure where it leads to, but maybe towards the beach? I brought kites and balls for the kids to play with, but there wasn't much open space at the park for that right now so we decided to leave after our picnic lunch. read more

I do not think I have ever felt so much positive, happy energy around me all at once than at this moment at Malibu Bluffs Park. We happened across this beautiful park quite accidentally, while taking a drive on Pacific Coast Highway to see the ocean. This weekend is the first weekend since quarantine that parks have opened. Wow, so much beauty and tranquility and happiness! Families picnicking, children playing ball with their parents, people lying on the grass on blankets drinking in the ocean air, walking, flying kites, looking through the telescopes at the horizon. This park is clean and has a expanse of green space. They are drinking fountains not only for humans, but for dogs! It was so cute to watch my pug drink out of his own little fountain while I held the button for him. Folks in Malibu sure know how to make a park. This is definitely a place to come again with a picnic. I highly recommend! read more

We visit here often with our dog as there is so much that it offers. Long walkways along the ocean. Ball diamonds. Restrooms. Park for your kids. Benches for people watching and reading. Many cute dogs. On leash is a must, the staff are strict about this. Free. Super safe and well maintained. Picnic tables and lots of grass and green areas for lunching and play. Wildlife - we always see squirrels and small lizards. When we were there this past weekend in July, there were signs posting areas where rattlesnakes were spotted. So, use caution especially with your curious fur babies. It is great exercise and I always feel relaxed and recharged for the week upon leaving here. Parking never an issue. We have met several friendly people here. The conversations always come back to the beauty and simple magic of this place. The weather is always great too. Never too hot. I just love it at the Bluffs. read more

This is a nice park located directly across PCH from Pepperdine University. There is a baseball field and nice grassy areas to picnic. There is also a paved,walking/jogging path around some of the park. If you venture along the far path along the edge of the bluff, you will notice the beautiful homes located on the beach below. Found this place randomly on our small vacation road trip. We wanted somewhere with free parking and thought this place was cute. It was nice and we had a small hike as well. Parking lot has several spots and is free. Has a nice grass area, baseball field and a playground for everyone to enjoy the outdoors and beautiful view. Little hidden tip: Randomly saw Simon Cowell walking around. Felt bad asking for a picture but yes crazy. Not a local but definitely a stop on your bucket list if you are visiting Cali. read more

One of our fav parks! Right off the PCH and across Pepperdine University. This park is kept clean, is pet friendly, and is a great place for activities: sports, hiking, walking, and having picnics at a few benches nearby or relax on the grass area by the trees. There are a couple of play grounds for the kids and clean bathrooms near the parking lot. The view of the coast is gorgeous, place is peaceful, and always love the nice cool weather :) read more

If you are lucky enough to play little league or AYSL soccer in Malibu then this is your park. It has a ten million dollar view of the Pacific Ocean and a cool breeze. The sunset is simply gorgeous from here. THere are trails to walk your pooch and the cutest park bathrooms. Malibu Bluffs Park is across the way from Pepperdine University. It has a big parking lot. Bring your own chairs and blankets for watching games. We are lucky to enjoy this park for now until someone demands to build a mega mansion on it. read more

Sitting on the whale's tail and taking in the view is very much allowed (this is a gorgeous park overlooking the ocean, right across from Pepperdine, well worth the scenic drive down pch). P.S. Views, view views. And more views. This 6-acre oceanfront bluff park is just up the hill, north on PCH, from the lagoon & Country Mart. Pepperdine is across the road from the park. On weekdays it's pretty empty here, but last Sunday there was plenty of activity. A ball game was in progress (Little League plays here). And a kid's b-day party was in full swing on the grassy area. This park has a beautiful kiddie playground next to the Michael Landon Community Center, with incredible views of hills & ocean, see photos. There are picnic tables in the park, but no cooking allowed. I could see blackened brush from the last Malibu fire. It came really close to the park space and did take out oceanfront homes at the bottom of the bluff, along Malibu Road. Some are being rebuilt now. One of the best parts of Malibu Bluffs Park are the trails leading down to Malibu Road. I've walked them from time to time, but watch out for rattlesnakes. Hard to look down though when you got panoramic ocean views..... The park has a fitness course, too, along the walking path, and there are a few telescopes at the edge of the bluff. A more beautiful setting would be hard to find. Just being here makes me grateful to be alive. I posted 28 photos read more

Looks can be very deceiving. This place looks like just any normal park in front street, but all the action is in back. Just like an 80s mullet hairdo. Your love the chill beach side hiking. There are baseball fields, picnic tables, and monthly events at the park. The cherry on top is the hidden beach access. Park parking is free with room for extra spaces on the side. My husband and I visited the Malibu Bluffs Park while we were in the area. It's a 6-acre community park that is off of Pacific Coast Highway, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The park itself has two baseball diamonds, a soccer field, a playground for the little ones, picnic station, a whale watching station, a community center, as well as a little trail for running/walking. There is also free wi-fi so you can also websurf if you're in the mood to do so :P A cute little hidden gem in Malibu, you can have a nice little picnic here or just to enjoy some views of the ocean. There's ample amount of free parking as well as a clean restroom for public use. When we went, the multipurpose/soccer field was closed off as they were fertilizing it (just hold your breath :P I loved seeing the California ground squirrels, as they were spotted and very cute! Probably one of the best parks in Southern California. A truly gorgeous park located on Pacific Coast Highway right across the street from Pepperdine University. Lots of awesome leagues play here including sports like baseball and soccer. They also have fun events here like concerts on the park or even a recent Pow Wow with Indian tribe members . Our family loves this park. It's somewhat changed since they added the baseball fields, less of a coastal park feel. I will say as a Mother of two young boys, 4 & 5 I wasn't pleased to see a needle box. And we have been there twice in the past two weeks and both times the box has been full. I'm not sure whats going on here late at night, but it really scares me. City of Malibu, please change your boxes, there are young children running around barefoot throughout the park. At first sight when you pull into the parking lot it looks like a bare field, but there's more to it. A kids play area is to the right of the community room. Not huge, but decent and in good shape. In the middle is a large grass field with sidewalks on the outskirts & some play apparatuses around the perimeter. These is a baseball field that has an ocean view, but really the beauty here is the bluffs. One look off that cliff and you know why you're here. Turn around and face land and Pepperdine's beautiful campus is looking right at you. There are several paths down to the ocean and really nice homes near the coast. We didn't travel down with flip flops and young kids, but most people traveled through the park and disappeared down the slope. If you don't live near Malibu I'm not sure it's worth the trek unless you're visiting Malibu Country Mart or Pepperdine. But next to stopping on PCH and getting out of your car the view here is hard to beat. read more

I have passed by this little park right off of Pacific Coast Highway across from Pepperdine University so many times over the years, finally decided to have a picnic there for Mother's Day! So glad we did, not only the park is beautiful overlooking Malibu ocean... there's also hiking, sports for kids and adults. It is a pet friendly park but keep them on a leash. It has picnic tables but they won't allow you to BBQ so bring your cold sandwiches and your drinks to have a great day right by the beach sitting on the grass with your friends and family! This park has a gorgeous view, but it's not the greatest for small children to venture out past the small designated play area. There is no fencing around the hill and young children can easily run down the hill in the shrubs and get badly injured. Other than that being a concern the grounds are well maintained and if you can get a lil shade under the only two small trees to eat you will enjoy the fresh air. :-) read more

A hidden gem! The entire hillside overlooking the Pacific in Malibu has been set aside for a small number of walking trails behind the sports fields. Great way to unwind, get some sun, and go for a walk in the ocean breeze. Open only when the Sun is up. read more

So I got engaged here........ Quick tips: 1. Literally right in front of Pepperdine University! 2. Free parking. 3. Tiny visitor center where you can learn more about the bluffs and surrounding beaches. 4. There are restrooms here. Love this area! Yelpers you were so right! We went on a Wednesday to the bluffs. I wanted to propose to my girlfriend who wanted a very private and very personal proposal. Just outside of the parking lot is a nice little community garden. There are some picnic tables here, but there are better more private areas down nearer the cliffs. As you head out across the grassy field, there are bleachers where you can sit and have a picnic lunch or you can sit on the many benches that dot around the bluffs. There is a little path that lets you walk alongside the bluff. There are a few more picnic tables down a dirt area that you can also sit in. I proposed on the bench closest to the grassy area and under a big tree! It was perfect because it was quiet, serene, and most of all beautiful. I think this is one of the best spots you can think about for a romantic or even fun day where you just have a picnic and lounge out. There are some people who like to walk the path, but for the most part it was great and super quiet! For those who were wondering, she said yes ;D read more

I have to agree with other Yelpers, this park could use more shaded areas. The park has gorgeous views especially near the picnic tables... away from the trees. It has a private parking lot, plenty of bins for trash and recycling, a big enough open area with few trees for shade, bleachers for an event, and a good but short walking trail. read more
