A refreshing June gloom hike in LA is best found at Point Dume in Malibu. Burrowed within one of Malibu's quaint yet luxurious subdivisions, you find yourself immersed only in the waves of the beach and the breeze as you set yourself up for a little beginner hike. It's the perfect hot girl walk with coffee in hand as you take in the views. Pro tip: get there early, there is limited parking. By limited parking I mean like 5 spaces. But it's absolutely worth it to be there early and take in a sunrise.

There are so beautiful. I got there at 3:00 pm, you can put the car on the beach, there are for parking.

Lovely trails, enjoyed the walk down the stairs! Bit strenuous but the beach below is beautiful. We then took a walk around the hill and it was gorgeous sight!

Paradise, that's what this is, plain and simple. Walking along the paths, looking at the flowers, birds and lizards is simply magnificent. The stairs are an added bonus, replacing the once decrepit rusty stairs that we climbed down in the past. These new stairs are incredible, I believe the count might be 194 one way, which makes for a great cardiac workout if you're up for the challenge. More importantly, on a low tide, one can leisurely stroll along the coast taking in the surf, sand and sights. The challenge is parking, only a few spaces and limited to two hours each so get there before the sun comes up. Watch them time as parking tickets are often out. Remember your sunscreen and have a wonderful time!

I love hiking/walking and always look for new trails to try. This one in Malibu has breathtaking coastal views. The pathway is nice and easy to manage. Lots of interesting plants and succulents all around. Like everyone said parking is hard to find unless you are there super early in the morning. Or just park someplace else and Uber. Sunsets are also breathtaking from here. Grab a picnic chair and find a spot to enjoy.

Great place to go if you want a quick hike, with rewarding reviews, and a beautiful beach to hang out at afterwards! Keep in mind that on the weekends, there is a huuuuuuuuge line to get into the parking lot, and although the parking lot is also huge, it will eventually run out of spaces. The lot got full around 12pm-1pm. So definitely plan on arriving early to snag a spot! Otherwise, there is Zuma beach next door, and they also have their own parking lot within walking distance. It does cost $15 per vehicle to park. It is a very quick 0.5 mile hike up a steep hill. At the top, there is a beautiful and refreshing view. I was surprised to see that they also have hooks installed at the top for people to mountain climb over the sides, which was a first I've seen! Overall, I recommend this spot.

Our future son in law chose this spot to propose to our daughter! We took an Uber up to the trail and walked up to the top, where you have a beautiful view of Malibu and the area. He had a photographer ready with candles and rose peddles shaped in a heart and pictures of the two of them. Of coarse she said YES!!! They have been together for 10 years (high school sweethearts) and we are so happy for them. It was a really WINDY night but that didn't spoil the big event!

Some gorgeous rocks seen in the beach

Gorgeous views that are to die for (but not literally-- no one should literally die for beauty). I was doing my journey around Los Angeles to find great places to hike and my friend Jake and I found this great trail. We opted to pay for parking, but this was only after I drove the wrong way and struggled to find Jake, compounded by the nightmare of losing phone signal and thus access to GPS. When I finally understood what Jake was telling me I was at the bottom of the hill and on the beach. You could technically park on the beach as it's free, but I guess the paid parking section was more worth it. $8 for better access? As long as it goes to maintaining the beach, then I am game. We caught some beautiful views of the water. Mountains and water always make a winning combination. It's a whole genre of painting don't you know? You could venture down a path to get to the other side of the mountain, to the water. It is a more rocky beach down there. Jake apparently saw a snake and would not let me see it. Good friend? Yes, but as a Biologist, I have to see EVERYTHING.

Want to see the beach, ocean, and blooming flowers while doing a little bit of walking/hiking? Point Dume is a great place to check off all these things! My friend and I came on a weekday morning and it was pretty quiet. There were multiple trails and they were clean + easy to walk on. It might take some navigation to get to the top but the scenery was great!! The flowers and ocean waves were cute backdrops for pictures. Parking options: My friend said that previously, cars could park anywhere by the homes/houses but there are lots of new No Parking signs everywhere so we drove all the way down to the beach's paid parking area ($6/day) and climbed up the hill to get to the mountain/Point Dume. To confirm that the flowers are blooming, I'd recommend checking IG and "recent" photos to see if there are yellow flowers in the pictures.

So lovely! We tried going here about a year ago and couldn't find parking for the life of us. But didn't realize until now you need to navigate to the parking lot showing on google maps (NOT to Point Dume). It'll take you to the bottom of the bluffs where there's a decent sized parking lot ($15 per car on Sunday). No wait to get in and plenty of spots available when we arrived around 10:30am. There's also 2 sets of bathroom buildings on each end of the parking lot (with flushing toilets). You then take the sand trail up to the bluffs where there's different look out points. For those who want to scurry down the bluff from the top, you can hit the other side of the rocks to a more secluded beach area. Definitely adding this to my list of favorite Malibu beaches (Leo Carrillo, El Matador and Malibu Lagoon) :)

Came by on a Sunday morning after a short drive from LA. The bad; there are only 6 parking spots that are free next to the Dume; there is paid parking below near the beach but that's a hike as well. So needless to say, parking can be difficult. The hike itself was very fun even though the trails were washed out from what it seems. There is still access to the beachfront via a rope. It's a really nice scene and the environment looks fantastic

Steep climb and some sketchy areas along the cliff edges but overall the hike was moderately strenuous (I had not hiked since covid 2020)

There are at least two pathways to reach the top since all the paths connect somehow. Everywhere you'd turn would have a spectacular view, but it's even better at the top. This can hardly be called a hike though. It's more of a small walk through a few rocks and patches of sand. A nice feature of this trail is the fact that all path are surrounded by wire rails so you can't get lost. Outside the paths were succulents of many varieties. The pathway to the beach was super short as well. The biggest issue I faced was just in finding parking. The few street parking spaces out front were full, so lots of other cars were forced to search the neighborhood for spots in a neighborhood that doesn't allow street parking in most streets.

Beautiful hike! You can't beat the views!…read more I wanted to check Corral Canyon for a while in Malibu and went recently for my birthday. We parked on the PCH passed Malibu Seafood (watch where you park, cops are serious in this area, they were hunting to give tickets to people when we went!). We walked into Malibu Seafood parking lot, there is a sign and you start a hike. You can check various trails, we stayed on the main path, which is tight and there is vegetation on both sides, so long pants are important as is sunscreen and water due to lack of shade. There weren't too many people, the views are incredible, the Pacific ocean shines in the horizon and Malibu coastline is gorgeous. We saw a few hawks flying above. We stayed on the trail, the chimney comes up fast, then kept going for a while and we did take a left at the fork and the views got better and better! Whatever trail you take, you won't get lost since this is a loop. Around 2 miles hike, not easy, but not strenuous, I'd call it moderate, good exercise, but not too hard. I can't take the images of the view out of my head. I'd do the hike it again in a heartbeat! It was a great way to spend my birthday! And of coursed we rewarded ourselves at Malibu Seafood with a nice meal since this b-day girl deserved it with the hike and all!

Or you can park on pch right next to the Malibu seafood place for free. If you come before 9 you should be ok. Make sure you have a front license plate!! We got a ticket once for not having one.. crazy. Very dog friendly hike, lots of hills so it's not easy, well marked trails. We like going right for everything. There's a small stream crossing due to all the rain so it's possible your feet may get wet and the dogs will be filthy. Make sure you give them flea and tick medicine! We went on February thinking it was ok, cold rainy... came home and there was a tick on my dogs ear!! Fun hike overall! Trail just keeps going up so you don't get that gratification until you make it to the tip for the whole loop

Walking along the sandy beach, surrounded by dramatic rocky cliffs and sea caves, feels like stepping into a postcard. The ocean views are breathtaking, the sound of the waves is calming, and there are so many little hidden nooks to explore. It is also an amazing location for a photo shoot if you have a permit, with the cliffs, natural arches, and golden sunsets providing endless opportunities for beautiful shots. The only reasons I gave it three stars are practical. Parking is expensive, which can be frustrating when all you want to do is enjoy the natural beauty. If you want to do professional photography, you also need a paid permit, which adds to the cost. On top of that, there are lots of stairs to get down to the beach, so it can be challenging for anyone with mobility issues or small children. Despite these drawbacks, I keep coming back because the scenery here is truly unmatched. Whether it's strolling along the sand, exploring the rock formations, or just sitting and enjoying the view, El Matador Beach captures the essence of California's coastline. It's a stunning, iconic location that I would recommend visiting at least once, just be prepared for the stairs and parking fees.
