What an awesome experience this was. We came here with my parents who were visiting for the weekend and we took a group here. Ben was our guide and he was fantastic! We did the 4x4 car tour and it was great. The wines were yummy and the views were spectacular. It was fun to see some of the animals and feed them as well. It was nice to have charcuterie as well! So many details and historical stories

From beginning to end, it was an incredible experience, well worth the price, the time, and the drive. The staff was incredible friendly, and our tour guide, Stephanie, was knowledgeable, friendly, and made this so exciting for our whole group! My wife and I were paired in a VW Bus with another family of four (so be prepared to socialize some!), and we all had a great time. On this experience, you'll get some incredible views, some interactive moments throughout the farm/winery, a little bit of history, and a lot of great wine. For the VW Bus tour, you'll get a charcuterie spread, and share several bottles of wine with your group. For those prone to altitude sickness (since the tour takes place higher above sea level) make sure to ask for some water, or even bring your own hydroflask or water bottle to stay hydrated. If you're looking for an interesting new experience to take up a couple hours of your weekend or day off, this is the place.

The drive there alone is worth the trip, absolutely gorgeous. Once we arrived, our guide gave a quick intro, and off we went on the hike. The views were stunning from start to finish. We passed through all kinds of scenery: rolling vineyards, bright green grass, gentle uphill trails with panoramic views, even a cave with ancient style drawings on the walls. The place is packed with trees of every shape and size, which made the whole walk feel like an adventure through a living postcard. I'll admit, the wine-to-hike ratio wasn't quite what I expected. I thought there'd be more sipping and less stepping but the hike itself was totally manageable and actually made the wine taste even better at the end. All in all, a beautiful experience. Would absolutely recommend it for anyone looking to mix a little adventure with their wine tasting. Did not encounter any bugs or mosquitoes.

I booked the wine tour as a birthday present for my friend and I'm so happy with the experience! It was so fun riding in the VW around the vineyard. The wines given to us to try were all delicious as well. The charcuterie was simple but good. Kurt was our guide and he was so fun and easy going. I would love coming back again to experience the hike and even do the VW again!

Today (Valentine's Day) was my second time having done the Malibu Wine Hike, and they just keep getting better. Brock was an incredible guide, with a level of witty commentary that really made the visit elevated. (Not to mention the actual elevation, ha!) The hills across the vineyard were absolutely stunning, extra green and luscious due to the winter rains. It's about 2 miles, in a loop, with only a bit of incline at the beginning and end. About halfway through, you get to stop for your wine tasting, choosing between an orange, pink, red or white. I personally found the orange to be a bit too sweet for me, but enjoyed the dry white. Stopping to pet the animals along the way was lovely as well. Would recommend to any visitors or locals looking to explore their own backyard!

Amazing Private Vintage VW Bus Tour in Malibu. I booked a 2pm reservation on a Saturday. Make sure to arrive 30 minutes prior to the departure time, late guests will forfeit their reservation. We got there exactly on time, lots of parking, and quick check-in at the cabin. This was a fun bachelorette wine tour with the best group of girlfriends. It's a 3-hour guided drive in Malibu with 3 stops: Saddlerock Ranch, a Malibu beach overlook, an additional winery, also includes wine and charcuterie board. Brad was our awesome tour guide. He was super chill and funny. We loved the breathtaking scenic views and the wine was delicious. The weather was just perfect. Highly recommended!

We had the absolute pleasure of having Stephanie as our tour guide, and she made our entire experience unforgettable. Lucky for us we had a great group of people. Not only was she incredibly knowledgeable, but she also kept us thoroughly engaged throughout the hike with fascinating insights about the property, its owners, and the wide range of services they offer. Her witty charm and warm personality made the hike feel less like a tour and more like an afternoon spent with a great friend. We were celebrating our 27th wedding anniversary and couldn't have picked a better way to mark the occasion. It was something different, fun, and active and the perfect way to spend a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Plus, the wine tasting at the end was a delightful bonus (and surprisingly delicious!). Stephanie went above and beyond, even shielding us from poison oak by physically blocking iit for us with her body....talk about dedication! Just a quick tip: be prepared to hike and dress appropriately, especially on warm days. Don't hesitate to book this experience. We're so glad we did. Thank you, Stephanie, for making it such a memorable day! Patrick & Patricia

BEN WAS THE BEST TOUR GUIDE EVER! We had so much fun with him. He has a great personality and energy to make the time fun! Book it and ask for him.

I won this experience at an auction and gifted it to my daughter. After a beautiful drive to the location, I was greeted by Stephanie and Ben at check in. Super friendly and accommodating. Once my daughter joined us we started the tour with a group of 3 delightful women celebrating shared birthdays. Ben was our guide and in addition to his knowledge of the place he was an expert at drawing out everyone's life. The hike was a good workout and the weather could not have been better. Midway we stopped and had a beverage (wine) break with their personal wine offerings. The history of the owner and site was fascinating. I highly recommend.

This was the best wine tour ever!! First of all, our guide was great. Super friendly and very informed about the wine. He made the tour as good as it was. We took the cute van around the vineyard and had three stops, all paired with good wine. There was a scenic spot, a car stop (trust me this is super cool), then more scenic views and animal spotting before you get to the final picnic spot. The picnic spot includes a nice charcuterie board with great cheese and crackers paired with your wine. The whole tour was so much fun, and the area is stunning. The wine is also delicious. I loved the Rose - it tasted very fruity. My family enjoyed the various white and reds too. Highly recommend!! I would be weary of how hot it can get on the hiking tour. We were driving and it was really hot.

Booked their 4x4 private ride. Our tour guide, Meddy was very nice, attentive and friendly. We had 5 stops which 3 of them included wine. Their wine selection was truly good. The ranch itself is beautiful and rides are fun. Highly recommended for a Sunday funday.

I can't say enough amazing things about this place! The ranch is absolutely breathtaking. We had a private VW tour with Kurt, who was incredible! I'd recommend booking with him 100x over! He made our day so special. We learned about the beautiful ranch, saw animals and antique cars, had a fabulous charcuterie board, and obviously tasted some amazing wine! The tour is 3 hours long so you don't feel rushed and get to genuinely enjoy your time. Kurt was constantly offering to take photos and videos of us which was so amazing having him there to capture special moments! We will 100% visit again, and you should too.

Ask the Community - Malibu Wine Hikes

How many wine tastings do you receive on the wine hike? Also, what is the refund policy after booking? Thanks!

You only receive wine to go on the hike.… Read more

Is there wine on the vineyard hike?

Yes, on dune buggy tour, frequent stops for samples and history of vineyard. Not sure about hikes.

Any issues with bees or wasps on the wine hike?

Surprisingly no! I'm terrified of bees and though they were there, they were tolerable. Left them alone and they left us alone.

Are wine flights included with the 4x4 tour? or is there a tasting room for after the tour?

They give you 5 small bottles of wine that you can drink throughout your 4x4 tour! It's so much fun!

What time of day should I book the 4x4 if I want to see the most animals?

The only animals we saw were the cows that were in a gated area in front of the caves. We had a great time.

What animals do you see on the 4x4? Is this a good 21st birthday idea?

Depending on the time of day you may see llamas, alpacas, horses, and mini ponies. A lot of people for their 21st Birthday and have a GREAT time!!

The the hike tour stroller friendly for baby? Thanks

When you go to the booking page it tells you: THIS TOUR IS OPEN FOR ALL AGES, HOWEVER DUE TO THE TERRAIN WE CANNOT ALLOW STROLLERS OR WAGONS. GUESTS WILL RECEIVE WINE TO-GO WHEN THE TOUR CONCLUDES.

Does the VW tour include a hiking portion? My family of 6!hates hiking but wants to tour Malibu Wines and enjoy tastings

Nope, the VW tour does not include any hiking. It's a completely separate excursion.

Is the hike kids friendly for 2 kids (8,11) and 2 adults? What is the pricing for adults and kids

Yes! We allow guests of all ages except on the VW Bus Tour, and must be at minimum 57” tall to go on the 4x4 tour. We do not offer discounts for guests under 21.

Is their restroom during the hike?

Assuming all hikes take the same route (and I don't know that for sure) - yes, there is a restroom break during the hike.

    How strenuous is the hike?

Not much at all. The guide goes at the pace of the crowd and stops frequently to te stories and allows time to take pictures.

Can you stay over after the hike and have a picnic? I'm planning to bring the whole family including 3 kids with us. Kids still pay $35 right even if they are not getting wine flights?

There is nowhere on the property to picnic afterward. Children 4 and under are free and children 5 years and up are full price $49. The wine that comes with the cost of a ticket will go to the persons over 21 years old.

Can you purchase more wine in addition to the 3 tasting that you get?

Leeya we do not offer additional wine for sale. However do sell crackers, cheeses and chocolate.

    Is this kid friendly?

Official answer: all hikes are appropriate for people under 21. We have had infants, Girl Scout Troops and sweet sixteen birthday parties. Haley (who posted earlier) is our Operations Manager for Malibu Wine Hikes and I am one of our longest… Read more

I plan on taking my girlfriend here for her birthday next weekend. Which hike would be recommended while not breaking the bank?

Wine and giraffe hike! It's $65/person and totally worth it. Includes the hike, visiting all the animals, and wine at the end.

Is there any way to modify the hikes or safaris to be wheelchair accessible?

Hey Cassie unfortunately the hikes can not be modified to be wheelchair accessible. I am not sure if Safaris has that capability but it would be worthwhile to reach out to them. You can email their manager at jesse@lasafaris.com

    Is this activity dog friendly?

Rachel unfortunately this activity is not dog friendly since we are coming into close proximity with other animals. For the safety of our animals and other people's pets we do not allow animals on the tour.
