The view is breathtaking and you can hear the soft sound of the waves in the background. PICTURES: The bridal party took pictures on the beach with the guests behind them looking over the balcony. I'm sure the bride and groom also got some gorgeous wedding photos out there too. Note if you are in the bridal party to come prepared with shoes you don't mind getting sand in. I noticed the men brought sneakers and the girls were barefoot. WHAT TO WEAR I was unsure what to wear to a beach wedding. The wedding I attended went from day to night. I wore a pink cocktail dress and that was perfect. Everyone at the wedding I attended wore colored clothing. I would stay away from black. And heels are fine because you are on a patio, not the actual beach. I recommend some nice open toe shoes with heels. I suggest wearing sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses (for a daytime wedding) to protect against the sun. I also suggest bringing a sweater as it can get chilly by the beach and also in the reception hall when they put on the air conditioning. Just note that there isn't really a place to store extra stuff except in the bridal room so pack lightly. RECEPTION The reception is inside in an intimate room with beautiful white tables, chandeliers, and a beautiful white draped backdrop with lights. The venue is small and intimate. It feels like being in someone's private home in Malibu. You have the place all to yourself. LOCATION This venue is deep into Malibu. If you are coming from the Westside of Los Angeles you will pass Pepperdine and Zuma Beach to get here. OTHER This place got an award from "2018 Best of Weddings" award from The Knot. The venue works best for smaller weddings. The one I attended had approximately 50 people and that was the perfect size for this venue.

Stepped into the Ocean Room and there are windows all along the room to capture the entire view of the ocean. Waves will crash right up to the windows. Brunch was provided and the menu included: French toast, Duke's roasted fish, Beef carving station, scrambled eggs w/cheddar cheese & bacon and sausage. Nothing was a standout. We had been shopping for a venue for some time and were toying with the idea of a destination wedding. Hawaii has always been mine and mama's special place, but, it wouldn't have been practical (nor economical) to have it out there. Enter Duke's. Our first point of contact was Madelina. She met with us and and started our process. She explained thoroughly what our options were, but, most importantly, she asked us what they could do to make our day even more special. Our questions were answered there or subsequently researched and confirmed immediately. Madelina handed us off to Alessa after the initial, who became our lifeline for the next several months. Alessa's communication with mama was impeccable. As with planning any wedding, lots and lots and lots of questions are asked and lots and lots of changes are made. Alessa was patient, understanding and proactive. No detail was either too small or too big. She even stuck around after hours to meet with us on our Tasting Menu night. Fast forward to our wedding day... Alessa was front row center helping us headless chickens as we ran around. The ceremony area and the dining area share the same space which is separated by "blinds" like dividers from the dancefloor/cocktail/bar area. They store the tables in the dancefloor/cocktail/bar area and move it into the ceremony/dining space afterward. The beach is available for pictures, but, not generally open to the public. While we were taking pics outside and our guests were cocktailing, the staff scurried inside repositioning all the tables. Granted I was not inside, I was informed that the transition was seamless. The remainder of the evening was executed marvelously. Alessa was always available. The passed apps and champagne were delivered effortlessly. The dinner buffet was (as we were told repeatedly) AMAZING! The bartenders were friendly bros who took care of our guests. The bussers were on point cleaning up. Oh, and Madelina was there as well to check on us. This party was one of the BEST one's mama and I have ever attended! And i'm not just saying that because we threw it. My best friend and I spent a weekend here, and I have never felt more divine--like the highest version of myself. There is a magic woven into this place, and Bill's kindness feels less like hospitality and more like being welcomed by an old friend. If you want a day-of coordinator, you can hire Laura to take care of all the important details on your big day. Table and chairs are included with the rental fee. We decided to go with DJ's catering that Laura recommended and they took great care of the catering + drinks part. That is another business I'd highly recommend. Laura has a pay-it-forward program where you can donate one item from your wedding decor and you get free access to the entire room of decor such as signs, card boxes, table numbers, bar signage, vases,etc to use for your wedding which we made great use of. Our ceremony took place in the front grassy area and the reception dinner in the cobblestone area. Our guests couldn't stop raving about how nice everything was afterwards. We had no hiccups or issues on the day of the wedding, the weather was in the low 80s and by the time dinner came around, it was perfect temperatures. The venue offers plenty of greenery and shade even on a hot day. There is also plenty of parking spaces for guests and areas for guests to roam around the venue during cocktail hour. The 20 kids that attended were so happy to spend time with the petting animals. Tiffany was punctual, helpful, fun, and thoughtful.
