The dinner we had was nice but it was outside and it was freezing. So we were all shivering and by the time our food came out everything was pretty cold. The entire hotel was not busy there wasn't that many people there. Kind of a shame since you think it would be since it is beautiful there. The rooms were interesting and across from each other, however I loved the little fire pit they had in the middle of the outside area going back and forth to the rooms. The kids had a blast though they had fun running back and forth and they do leave a lot of yummy snacks around which was really nice. The customer service was not bad not the best but not bad! Everyone was nice but things took extra long when it shouldn't when no one was really there. I hope next time we visit this hotel it will be busier. We completely understand that those tables may not always be available, and we weren't expecting special treatment. However, when we asked one of the hosts about an ocean-view table, the communication was not very clear, and the table we were moved to was not what we had requested. What was more disappointing was surcharge. We honestly didn't understand what the surcharge was for, and no one clearly explained it to us. It felt unnecessary, especially since we were simply trying to get the table we had asked about in the first place. If there is a surcharge, I think customers should be clearly informed about what it is for before being charged. That said, the food, drinks, server, and beautiful Malibu setting were all excellent. And since we were involved in selecting excerpts in a collaborative way with Eric, we really felt like the ceremony was true to us. The script is one thing, the experience of having Eric officiate on the day is another! He arrived promptly and immediately put us at ease with his gentle and charming nature. He had excellent advice before the ceremony so that my husband and I could be fully present and engage with one another. This advice made the ceremony so intimate and shook us out of our jitters completely. The ceremony itself was so poignant, moving and a major highlight of the day. Eric spoke beautifully and brought the words on the page to life. You know that he loves what he does because the passion pours out of him. Our guests were all in tears and commented that ours was the most moving ceremony they had ever experienced. It's hard to be objective, but they were echoing our own feelings.
