Spoke to the "new" shop owner, Octavio, about a week ago to request service records for a 2009 Mini Cooper. He assured me it wouldn't be an issue and said his wife would email them to me when she returned to the shop. However, when I followed up, Octavio completely went back on his word. He refused to email the records and demanded I get physical copies from the car's owner instead. He didn't have the courtesy to reach out or explain why he changed his mind after we had an explicit agreement. This is a clear example of poor communication, bad customer service, and a lack of professional work ethic. Be wary of businesses that promise one thing and do another. I called in on relatively short notice to address a peace-of-mind issue - a low-urgency warning light on my dash that I didn't completely understand. My 06 mini was experiencing a delay after 20 minutes of driving so I took it to an auto repair close to me. They suggested that it was the Transmission and quoted $5000.00, after further review it changed to $7000.00, THEN $9500.00. My car had less then 42k miles, I knew something was wrong. Took here for a 2nd opinion, they figured out that it was in fact the Transmission, but specifically the valve body and quoted me $3000.00. Here's the best part: He knew someone who could charge half because they do that type of work all the time and referred me to them. Ended up getting it fixed for $1600.00 I'm grateful for their honesty and felt it was very classy of them to refer me out to a place that could help for less. I've been using Corporate Auto Works for eight years now, and I literally wouldn't go anyone else. Here's how I was introduced to Corp. Auto: I bought my BMW M3 in 2001, and of course, wanted to find a great shop to take care of my baby. I joined the BMW Car Club of America and started asking around to the experienced guys, "Where can I find an independent BMW shop that does great work and won't rip me off." After talking with a few people, the "vectors" were point me toward Corporate Auto. The recommendations of BMW car club members were definitely a strong convincing force, but what really hooked me was my first experience: I made my first appointment with Corp Auto primarily because I had looked at my rotors and seen some grooves in them, and thought they needed to be replaced (it was a used M3). I don't really know much about cars, so in truth, I didn't know what I was talking about, even though I thought I did. So I brought my car in, and I told them, "I'm pretty sure my rotors need to be replaced, and probably the breaks too." Now, consider that scenario. For a mechanic that isn't honest, this is like a dream come true... a perfect and easy way to do some work that may or may not need to be done, and charge me up the #$@$. It's like walking into a car dealership and asking, "So, what do i have to do to get me to drive away with one of these cars today?" You can see the sales people salivating. Anyway, the great news is the Andrei and Mike over there are not only great mechanics, but they're completely honest, and they don't over charge. In fact, I was actually surprised at the end of my first experience when Andrei walked me to me car and told me that the rotors were fine (the small grooves I noticed are completely normal), as well as the brakes, and I really didn't need any work done. Amazing! I walked in there ready to spend $1000, and walked out with that $1000 in my pocket and a clean report on my car. Ever since then, I only go to Corp Auto. Bottom line best shop in the Bay Area. Andre is the most honest mechanic I have ever met...ever. I have been using these guys for the last 8 years. First Andre and crew completely redid my 190 2.3 16valve Mercedes. He new the car inside out which was amazing because 99% of mechanics don't know this car. Then worked on my 540i then my 2000 M5. After I had them work on my 190 I don't buy any cars until Andre inspects them first. He is the most thorough Mechanic I have ever met period. He knows everything about pretty much any car out there. So nervous about buying a BMW (used) due to their high maintenance costs and the need to have a pit crew for how quickly a sports car wears down. Thank God I bought the warranty for all non-wear-and-tear work! The car is approaching its 90K service, and I don't know if the previous owner had kept the car current on its maintenance. My wife and daughter needed to take the car up to Healdsburg, and I needed the peace of mind that they wouldn't be stuck on the side of the highway. Although Corporate Auto Works ("Corporate Auto") didn't have availability until after their trip, as Andre understood the situation, he re-arranged their schedule in order to do "what I'd want done if my wife and toddler were in that car". They went through the car and identified only the "most important items", educated me on why they thought these items were necessary, and what each would cost. In short, despite my wariness and suspicion that was caused by so many other auto mechanics' b.s., they are extremely patient, transparent and treated me like they want to keep me as a customer for a very long time. When you find honest and reliable professionals who specialize in high-maintenance autos, you are a very lucky person - even though you were dumb enough to buy that needy car in the first place. He replaced the liner and also unclogged my sunroof drains and even did a thorough inspection of my engine for oil leaks. My entire family has brought our cars to corporate auto works for 16 years. I moved to La Jolla, CA, so I wanted to put this yelp review up in the hopes that I can turn other people onto the shop, since I can't go there anymore! My family has owned several Volvos and BMWs over the years, and previous to deciding on Corporate Auto Works, we had tried about a dozen other shops. Andrei and Mike are top notch, honest, and friendly. Their mechanics are smart, efficient, and serious about the work they do. In fact, everybody at CAW is serious about what they do. Indeed, they are true professionals, the way things should be. I could give you numerous examples of how CAW has taken care of us, but instead I will just summarize as follows: - When any of us take our cars in for routine maintenance (oil change, 30K mile service, etc.), CAW doesn't cut any corners. On major services, they hit every line item - down to greasing the door jambs. A lot of places will skimp on things they don't think customers will notice, which we found to be the case when we were trying out other shops 16 years ago. - Their prices are more than fair, however that is not why we chose CAW. Their honesty, quality of work, and professionalism is why we chose them - Say you bring your car in for a blown radiator (in which case you probably own a BMW), and Corporate Auto Works discovers that you have cracking hoses, or other "time bomb" issues. This is where most shops screw people in my experience, by "tacking on" additional work. Mike or Andrei will fully explain the situation. There is no pressure, and they do not use fear to sell you on the additional work. They will give you a really clear picture of the level of importance of what they have found, and it is a conversation about the practicality of doing said additional work vs. not fixing the issue right away. They are more than happy to show you the broken (or breaking) parts in question. If every business in America operated like CAW, we would return to the idyllic greatness of the 1950's, where honest and hard work gets the job done, and you can trust the people you deal with. It's a shame that I am 600 miles away and can't go to Corporate Auto Works anymore, but my family still goes there, and I suggest that anyone try them out at least once. read more

We have been going to Mike and his team at Corporate Auto Works for at least 4 or 5 years now for our Audi and Mercedes vehicles. We love him and his service! He is by far the most honest "mechanic" I have ever been to and very reasonably priced. I've never felt taken advantage of. He takes time to research and find the best way to resolve my car issues, even if that includes saying the fix isn't worth the value or that he's found a recall. Most recently I had an issue with my Audi when a check engine light came on. He diagnosed the issue, determined what the issue was, and did some research. It turned out that the issue and code are related to a recall and he informed me that I should call Audi. Which I did and now I have a fix for my issue at no cost. He could have taken my money but didn't. This just underscores his integrity, honesty, and customer commitment and for that, it will keep me coming back to him as long as he's in business. read more

Took my BMW 530 here for an electrical problem and engine noise. They got on it right away addressed the issue as fan clutch noise, as well as gave me a total assessment of things found wrong with the car, including an engine code for a stuck thermostat, as well as worn out belts, a speaker wire that had broken (causing the electrical issue). Assessment was tip top, and I got the car fixed and returned to me in the same day. Great customer service, decent pricing, honest and detailed assesment of probelms with my car. My wife and I live in SoCal and we were looking at a BMW from a private party seller in the Mountain View area. Since we could not be there to physically inspect the car ourselves we thought an independent inspection would be a good idea. I called 5 or 6 different shops and got the best vibe from Mike at CAW. We've been taking our cars to Mike and Andre for over 20 years...and we don't even drive German cars! None of our cars have ever seen the inside of the dealer service center except for recall service. We've always been extremely happy with the quality of CA's work, their diligence in making sure work that needed to be done got done (and nothing else!), and how they kept their timing commitments for service and repairs. You also won't ever meet a more courteous and professional team. Twice over the years, reality threw Mike a curve ball while working on our cars. Both times, he stepped up and did more than he needed to in order to fix the problem. No muss, no fuss. You can't ask for anything more than that. CA goes above and beyond for their clients. For example, a few times we've needed some paint & body work done. The excellent shop Autobahn Body & Paint is a few doors down from CA. CA & Autobahn coordinated the hand off between them and we were able to get paint work and routine service done without multiple trips to deal with it personally. I took my Benz in to Corporate Auto Works and found Mike, the owner, to be a stand-up honest guy. The only issue I have is the pricing is a la carte which can get expensive very fast and was not based on an hourly rate . I got a synthetic oil change, front rotors replacement and brake fluid flush for $554. They wouldn't accept my synthetic oil and insisted they use their oil (although same brand) so that they charge retail for each can of oil. Corporate Auto works have excellent reviews in Yelp and Checkbook, in fact Checkbook rates them for value. MIke reported a number of issues that did not need to be fixed rightaway which was good to know. The next morning, I did find oil stains on my garage floor, something that has not happened before. I took the car back and after Andre looked over it and he said that the car had leaks. Surprisingly I didn't have those leaks before their oil change, so what gives. Looks like shoddy job by an inexperienced mechanic, disappointed that they didn't fess up. read more

They found undisclosed aftermarket parts as evidence of an accident and also pointed out lack of maintenance helping me avoid that car. After FINALLY buying a new car (decided to go Japanese), I realized that a review for Corporate Auto Works is long overdue! Mike has taken care of my 1993 Mercedes 300CE for literally decades! Always honest about what needed to be done versus what wasn't as pressing. I admit that it has been a few years since I brought my car here, but the service that I was provided was great. I had vacuum leak and the check-engine light had come on. They explained the problem and what it would take to fix it. After dropping my car off, they happily gave me a ride to the train station so I could get to work. At the end of the day my car was ready to go, the problem was solved, and the bill was well explained and reasonable. A friend of mine referred me to Corporate Auto Works and I happily serviced my Volvo there, which unfortunately was destroyed in a car accident I had--the Volvo had 390,000 miles plus and was running beautifully. I now have a Corolla LE, and as my factory warranty expires I always go to Mike for advice and servicing. My 2011 MINI had started stuttering When starting the engine a few weeks back. I suspected it was due to dirty fuel injectors. But after 4 bottles of Techron failed to fix the problem, it was time to get it checked by a pro. I was referred to this shop by my trusted coworker. I called in advance and visited Mike. He scanned the car, told me what part he suspects is faulty, and gave me a print out of the scan. He even went out of his way to look up recall/extended warranty parts so that MINI may repair it with no charge. I called MINI, took in the car. It was in fact the part Mike pointed out.
