Ambience so peaceful and romantic. Can't comment on service since office was closed (weekend?) when we came and visited. No food either with restaurants clued too. Wine tasting open but didn't go in because I had to drive (I turn red easily) and don't want any ticket. Didn't also had a chance to try the only food truck present at the moment due to time constraint ((had to leave). Can't imagine though how nice and romantic of an experience it would be if you can have your wedding/reception at this venue. . Amazing nature's beauty of the whole place everywhere you look. Interesting history behind its development too. Perfect place for big gatherings/events. For sure be interested in coming and visit next time on regular weekdays.
Then there was one. Currently there is only one shopfront open at Cornerstone Sonoma. Meadowcroft wines is still there, well they were there two weeks ago. The other businesses of restaurants, galleries, and shops have closed up shop. The grounds and gardens are still meticulously up kept. Me and hubs were the only ones walking about the gardens on a mid-Saturday afternoon. I felt as if we were the last two people on earth. It was eerily silent and quietly beautiful. My two favorite garden installations are the lily pond and the Garden of Contrast. The first time I visited this location was over 15 years ago when it was a garden art gallery only with an admission fee. It had evolved from then to what it is now... shopping plaza with retail, galleries, restaurants, party venue site, and outdoor gardens that are free to visit. I understand the management company that owns Cornerstone has fallen on hard times. I hope that they will be able to settle that and revive this place. It's a beautiful piece property from the gardens, venue grounds, and modern buildings with gorgeous views of wine country.
So sorry to see this botanical gem falling into disrepair. Apparently the owner went bankrupt but I am afraid that the property will become a very expensive wedding or special event facility. The unique gardens and plants made this a wonderful place to spend a relaxing afternoon. There are only 2 shops still open and the property is not being kept up, so sad.
Age of Event Cool event space, market, and boitique shopping marketplace located in Sonoma. Features: *Large parking private lot parking *Gorgeous spaces for events like an old barn complete with a classic truck. *A few small well-maintained gardens *Michelin Bib Gourmand Folktable restaurant is highly recommended by yours truly. *Potter Green & Co. has some really cool décor and some niche food items; for example, I purchased a barrel-aged vinegar there. *Clean restrooms Conclusion: Beautiful garden and event venue with a world-class restaurant and shopping to boot!
Lovely venue space to leisurely stroll and venture about! They have gardens and unique, beautiful sections to explore. From man made pond, farm to table veggies and fruits, floral gardens, bbq area and open land, it's pleasant to wander about here. There are shops and a top notch restaurant to grab a bite. It seems that these days though, the shops are sitting empty post-covid. I highly recommend the restaurant. It's a Michelin bib. With its somewhat seclusion to this massive, green and tranquil venue space and tasty, fresh dishes, I can see why it's a gem.
What an incredible level of service by the staff at Cornerstone. Lisa was fantastic and their knowledge and kindness made our visit exceptional.
I haven't been here in a few years and was absolutely shocked to see that ALL of the shops and storefronts have closed!! It was a ghost town. A far cry from what I remember when they used to host so many food and wine events here with local craft shops. The only thing open this past Saturday at 1pm was Meadowcroft Wines and a small food truck parked in front. Folktable restaurant has also recently closed. It looks like this is now predominantly used as an event space I am guessing? The grounds are still very well kept and it's still a lovely walk around the gardens. But there is absolutely nothing for you to do here anymore.
We heard about this place on the radio and finally made the drive out to Sonoma, specifically to wander the gardens. I did some pre planning and we arrived early for a wonderful lunch on the patio at FolkTable. 5 Then we wandered through the different gardens and event spaces. What a beautiful venue and variety of gardens. It was a really lovely day. Not too busy, being a weekday. We saw people picnicking on the lawn, families wandering around. After we stopped in to Meadowcroft for wine tasting. Super friendly staff. There was only one shop open, besides the restaurant and wine tasting. I hope the can get one or two more. All in all, it was a lovely day. We will return for lunch and the gardens as often as we can.
OMG! Cornerstone Sonoma was recommended by the hosts at Inn on First, the BEST bed and breakfast in Napa. There's a lot to see at Cornerstone. There's wine to drink; we did not. There's food to eat; we did not. There are gardens to see... this we did and we took our time, we took photos and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The gardens at Cornerstone Sonoma are curated by artists, so each section is designed differently and yes, artistically. It's an visual experience that I feel is one of a kind. If you are anywhere near Cornerstone, you NEED to go! Aside from the amazing gardens, we visited one shop. So here's another OMG! I don't remember the name of the shop, but pretty much everything in the shop was made by local artists. And.. the largest wind chime I've ever seen hangs here. Seriously, if you're planning a trip to Napa or Sonoma, you need to put this spot on your list of must sees.
Attended a wedding here on a Saturday in August. Beautiful place with all the gardens and water features. Ceremony in one spot, move to the bar where cocktail hour is, then another setup for dinner and back at the bar for dancing and dessert. It's nice that it is all in one place but you move to different areas. Plenty of parking. Restrooms are a little far from the ceremony and reception areas, at least for grandma and if your feet hurt.
Went on a tour to see their various gardens and event venues. If you are getting married, doing team building, a corporate event or any group gathering they have so many cool options. Their grounds are beautiful!
What happened to this once thriving place. I stopped by on a Sunday, on my way home from Napa, because they advertised live music and wanted to shop amongst the cool shops. But alas Covid-19 hit which hurt many of the shops and there are no more, not even a handful. On top of that there is a new owner of the complex and frankly not doing a great shop attracting businesses. I walked from empty store fronts to the only garden, gift store that has really cool items and I would consider the anchor store. There is a very small tasting room where people were gathered and one restaurant. That's it. The live music was playing in an open space courtyard with plenty of tables and food & drink. The storefront restaurant provides all this with their alfresco kitchen. The band was outstanding. I hope the new owner wants to turn this place around and fill the shops up again. This was once a thriving, cool stop for tourist and locals alike.
This place is so awesome-- I dig these types of spots where you can try different things, walk around, enjoy the morning/afternoon. This space is gorgeous and you could even spend some time here without spending any money. The gardens are gorgeous and surprisingly spacious for being free to roam. It was a lovely space to run around with our dog and kids. There's lounge seating and shaded tables/benches all over the grounds as well. Currently they have a coffee shop that is open daily, FolkTable restaurant (open Wed-Sun), 2 wine tasting rooms, and a couple little shops. Folktable has an awesome seasonal menu, and we picked up some gifts at the shops.
This place is awesome and very relaxing. Perfect for walking around with my wife and enjoying the gardens out back. Cool high end shops with fancy earthy stuff everywhere. Definitely will make this place a must stop in when we are in this area. read more

Cornerstone was on my list of places to visit because I heard about the Sunset Test Kitchen (which was sold out on Saturday) and the lovely gardens. We came to visit on our way home from Sonoma to Oakland as we wanted to avoid the traffic on 37 because of the Sonoma Raceway event. We got here just before it opened at 10 and went into the visitors center to get a map of the place and they also have various brochures about places to visit in Sonoma. The weather was cool and a bit windy when we first started out visiting the grounds as we started in the gardens. It is a lovely place for some quiet time and to just enjoy nature. We visited a store as well as had lunch there and had a wonderful time enjoying the gardens. My favorite part was the pond with the guppies. They have chairs and benches you can sit on near the pond and just take in the view, be in the moment! Another interesting gem is the Wishing Tree, very beautiful. read more
This is a nice place in Sonoma that offers many places to explore. They have restaurants, wineries, a distillery and beautiful Sunset Magazine gardens. It can be a bit tough to get into due to the entrance is on a busy road. The day we visited was a nice sunny day. We first had lunch and then toured the gardens. It is interesting as the have separate areas with different sculptures or water areas along with different plants. We then tried some items from the distillery and ended at a winery. It is nice to have many options in one place without having to drive around and deal with crowds. read more

This area was beautiful and fun! The area is dog friendly! There are several wine tasting rooms here, shops of art and fountains, as well as a cafe here. We really enjoyed this area for a nice afternoon. We highly recommend checking this spot out if in the Sonoma area! read more

This is a must stop for me when in the area and use it as a jumping off point prior to any other adventures in wine country. Typically I spend about an hour here and find their shopping and galleries to standout amongst the town of Sonoma's shopping and dining options. However, the grounds and sculpture gardens are the real stars here! You can easily spend an hour or more roaming the different displays (some rotate and others have been here for quite a while.) All the while you have amazing views of Sonoma, birds and sunshine to accompany your walk. I would say it's a nice place to let your kids roam around in for a little while-they have some interactive scuplture areas like the Wishing Garden and even a recently installed smaller "Children's Garden." Cornerstone is truly one of my favorite places in Sonoma and I have taken out of town visitors here, who I knew would appreciate the gardens and serenity to be found here. Stop in, use the restrooms on your road trip, take an obligatory photo in the big blue chair and enjoy! read more

This is a great place to stop shop and take photos. I have been here a few times now and each time I get out and take a few pics. They have a nice size parking lot so that's not an issue. it's also very dog and kid friendly so you can bring the family. The store's here are cool to check out. In the back, they have areas designed for photos. Just walk around check out the different areas and snap away. Oh yeah, the best part is that its free. So if you're in the area and need to use the restroom or just stretch your legs make sure to stop here. read more

Amazing spot to spend the day! They have ample photo ops with the gardens, cafe, and different tasting rooms. We enjoyed a day exploring the gardens and getting creative with pictures. They have many art installations, plants, and scenic spaces to explore. It is not that deep into Sonoma so you can easily access this area. Also the fact that there are a few wine tasting rooms you can really spend a day exploring what each of those have to offer as they are each unique. The cafe appeared to have a good menu, we didn't eat there as we packed a lunch. The gardens are free. Each wine tasting ranges from $10-$15 per person. read more
My friends and I went here for the free weekend 8/26-27, 2006. Regular price $9 for adults. I recommend the gardens if you can go on a free weekend (last weekend of the month from June-Aug) or happen to be in the area. It's across the street from Gloria Ferrer Champagne. We happened on a free docent tour at 11am too. It was a good tour of the highlights and then we could wonder around on our own. I liked the Blue Tree, but the docent told us that they are going to take it down. The tree is dying and might fall. They rotate the artist's work, so you need to come by more often. Recommended. We had a lovely time here, walking through the gardens, enjoying the shops, and stayed for the circus. What a wonderful way to spend half the day! Olive trees, beautiful art, perfect weather! The huge wind chimes were spectacular. This is a fabulous venue for weddings or gala events! read more
OBSESSED!!!! How can you not fall in love with this place?!? This is my number 1 favorite place to shop. You can find lovely unique gifts and enjoy a stroll through the gardens. It's a great place to grab food on your way out of wine country and have you last taste! I wish I could afford to decorate my whole yard with the beautiful art. First time coming here and I really enjoyed the cornerstone. Wish more gardens would have been opened but it was a beautiful day and it wasn't overly crowded. The gardens that we did see have beautiful designs and they are all very blissful. They woke cute little shops with some beautiful items, some are pricey but it is still nice to go see. They have a few different places to eat and some rating rooms which is pretty cool. Overall this place is very lively and beautiful. The scenery is hip and it is also kid friendly. Parking is great, lots of room, we didn't have any issues. There's isn't really any staff checking in but that wasn't a problem, if you walk in some of the eateries or shops there is very sweet kind staff. I will be back! read more

I just love what Sunset Magazine did to this place. It feels good visiting, very inviting and I can't stop recommending. I love the different shops filled with unique items. The merchants are proud of their business, very welcoming and does not seem to mind people just wanting to browse without the pressure of making a purchase (although I am an exception - I just about bought 2 or more things from every store I went into... lol). One thing I would like to see more of is eateries. Otherwise cheers to the wonderful celebration weekend event Sunset! read more
Cornerstone is a photographer's playground! Some of you have probably zoomed right past the giant blue adirondack chair prominently marking Cornerstone while driving along Hwy 121, not even thinking twice to make a stop. I know I have. While I've stopped here before to make a pit stop, I hadn't really explored the place until yesterday. Cornerstone is made up of various interactive gardens showcasing contemporary, innovative designs from landscape architects and designers from all over the world. From a colorful field of daisy pinwheels to a diseased tree covered in thousands of round baby blue Christmas ornaments, it's artwork intertwined with nature that you won't find anywhere else. You can easily spend hours here exploring not only at the art gardens, but inside the funky retails shops and galleries as well. Zipper is a modern home accessories store filled with endless atypical gift items. Local wineries including Larson and one of my personal favorites, Roshambo, have tasting rooms here, which are worth checking out just for their unique spaces. Like I mentioned, you'll get some amazingly fun shots here, perfect for couples engagement photos! Plus, there are also some really beautiful sites for weddings and private events. My husband & I must have visited a dozen venues during our engagement and looked up countless more on HereComesTheGuide.com. In the end we chose our initial favorite, Cornerstone Gardens, and are very happy that we went with that choice. We had many people tell us that our July wedding at Cornerstone was one of the best weddings that they had been to and the venue definitely played a part in that. It is definitely unique, and that was what we were going for. Our guests loved the different sites between the ceremony on the vineyard lawn, dinner in the tent, and dancing in the barn. They also loved our 90 minute cocktail hour to allow time for guests to wander around the grounds and see the art structures. We loved the beautiful photos that we got during that time. Now, I must admit that all of this came with a price. Cornerstone only provides the bare bones, which means that everything is a la carte. Therefore we had to do a lot of work finding vendors from everything from the dinner tables to the sound system for our pianist and mics during the ceremony. We did cut some corners and had friends put up paper lanterns in the tent & barn, and bought trendy but cheap floor lamps at Target rather than renting lighting. We also got married on a Friday, since the rental cost was much cheaper than Saturday. That was probably the best choice that we made, as it was much easier to find vendors for a Friday in July than a Saturday. All-in-all, I believe our wedding venue was a memorable place and well worth the effort in the end. read more
If you travel to Napa to visit all the wineries, make sure you add this place to your stop. If you like seeing creative structures, wine tasting, shopping and getting a bite to eat, then this is your go to place. The first time I came here was for a wedding I was coordinating. The grounds are perfect for a ceremony, reception and taking beautiful unique pictures. The catering service was very good. Planning a wedding: 1. They have a large outdoor tent. The tent is only enclosed on the top and not on the surrounding areas. Make sure you talk to onsite coordinator as it can get very windy during certain times of the year. Centerpieces can blow everywhere if they are tall and not weighted down. 2. Outdoor barn where you can have the reception inside. 3. Restrooms are located in the middle area of the shopping stores closest to the tent sight. 4. Parking is great (private lot) and you can drive your car right to the tent sight for setting up. 5. One of the best features is the white roses that surround the entire Tent sight. When in bloom it is breathtaking. 6. Cost: Surprisingly it is moderately affordable, even for the budget bride. This is Sonoma/Napa it can be worse. You might want to consider checking it out. Aside from having a wedding here, In my opinion this place is for taking a stroll with your honey and seeing the beautiful structures and taking lots of pictures versus going here solely for wine tasting. read more
We came here for a pre-half marathon dinner.. what a gorgeous location!! They have tons of cute shabby chic stores. Great place to try different wines. I could see a wedding or big party here being absolutely beautiful!! They have a gorgeous stream and pond with lily pads and frogs. The place we sat for dinner overlooked the vineyards and we saw a very gorgeous sunset. They have a beautiful rose garden. The bathrooms were very clean and nicely kept up. This is an amazing location and I would like to come back in the future and explore more! read more

I love gardening and anything that smells "Sunset magazine lifestyle", so when I heard about this Cornerstone Sonoma place being the location for another Sunset gardens (I have been at the HQ in Menlo Park before and loved it) I could not resist to just go one Sunday. My first time in Sonoma and this was my entry port. Awesome time I spent there, loved mostly the Sunset gardens with intricate sculptures and whimsical play with the spaces and shapes. All very well planned and structured for all tastes: the ones who go there only for the wine, can sit and chill and some places dedicated to that purpose, the shop-addicts can get expensive souvenirs or gifts, the wanderers can go after the butterflies in the gardens, the marriage material couples can perpetuate their selfies in pretty scenarios there...and you can even take cooking classes and rent the entire venue for events. What else to ask for? read more

Back when I was a student in the Landscape Design & architecture program at Davis this was a location we took a field trip to visit this site to support some of our fellow students who participated in creating a display. Through the weeks I heard rumors of the concepts that they were working on, but I was truly blown away by some of the displays. Some of my personal favorites were the dedication wall to the emigrant workers, of course the surreal blue tree and the knowledge of man as in waters. They had a antique shop, I usually try to stay out of those places, I'm pretty clumsy... Unfortunately I came back about a year later, and have to admit that the displays were not entirely in the pristine condition that I remember. So I really hope they either repair some of these areas or even add in new designs. Still because they are charging you for entrance I expected they would maintain it a little more. read more

What a lovely place and unique idea--and it's free! Cornerstone Sonoma is located about 30 minutes from Vallejo and offers a pretty and serene tour of the art collections and gardens. It's a great place to just walk around, enjoy the scenery, and take photos of all the cool art installations. There's also a few boutique wineries and shops that you can stop by after your walk around the Gardens. I enjoyed the wine tasting and a charcuterie plate which, in conjunction with the perfectly sunny yet breezy weather, was just heavenly. Love this place. read more

Are they open for business? I heard most places are closed
When I was there a few months ago there was a sign that the place was in bankruptcy. Everything was closed except one food stand and the grounds and beautiful flowers were in very sad shape.
