Lovely venue space to leisurely stroll and venture about! They have gardens and unique, beautiful sections to explore. From man made pond, farm to table veggies and fruits, floral gardens, bbq area and open land, it's pleasant to wander about here. There are shops and a top notch restaurant to grab a bite. It seems that these days though, the shops are sitting empty post-covid. I highly recommend the restaurant. It's a Michelin bib. With its somewhat seclusion to this massive, green and tranquil venue space and tasty, fresh dishes, I can see why it's a gem. read more

Ambience so peaceful and romantic. Can't comment on service since office was closed (weekend?) when we came and visited. No food either with restaurants clued too. Wine tasting open but didn't go in because I had to drive (I turn red easily) and don't want any ticket. Didn't also had a chance to try the only food truck present at the moment due to time constraint ((had to leave). Can't imagine though how nice and romantic of an experience it would be if you can have your wedding/reception at this venue. . Amazing nature's beauty of the whole place everywhere you look. Then there was one. Currently there is only one shopfront open at Cornerstone Sonoma. Meadowcroft wines is still there, well they were there two weeks ago. The other businesses of restaurants, galleries, and shops have closed up shop. The grounds and gardens are still meticulously up kept. Me and hubs were the only ones walking about the gardens on a mid-Saturday afternoon. I felt as if we were the last two people on earth. It was eerily silent and quietly beautiful. My two favorite garden installations are the lily pond and the Garden of Contrast. The first time I visited this location was over 15 years ago when it was a garden art gallery only with an admission fee. It had evolved from then to what it is now... shopping plaza with retail, galleries, restaurants, party venue site, and outdoor gardens that are free to visit. I understand the management company that owns Cornerstone has fallen on hard times. I hope that they will be able to settle that and revive this place. It's a beautiful piece property from the gardens, venue grounds, and modern buildings with gorgeous views of wine country. read more

So sorry to see this botanical gem falling into disrepair. Apparently the owner went bankrupt but I am afraid that the property will become a very expensive wedding or special event facility. The unique gardens and plants made this a wonderful place to spend a relaxing afternoon. There are only 2 shops still open and the property is not being kept up, so sad. read more

I haven't been here in a few years and was absolutely shocked to see that ALL of the shops and storefronts have closed!! It was a ghost town. A far cry from what I remember when they used to host so many food and wine events here with local craft shops. The only thing open this past Saturday at 1pm was Meadowcroft Wines and a small food truck parked in front. Folktable restaurant has also recently closed. It looks like this is now predominantly used as an event space I am guessing? The grounds are still very well kept and it's still a lovely walk around the gardens. But there is absolutely nothing for you to do here anymore. read more

We heard about this place on the radio and finally made the drive out to Sonoma, specifically to wander the gardens. I did some pre planning and we arrived early for a wonderful lunch on the patio at FolkTable. 5 Then we wandered through the different gardens and event spaces. What a beautiful venue and variety of gardens. It was a really lovely day. Not too busy, being a weekday. We saw people picnicking on the lawn, families wandering around. After we stopped in to Meadowcroft for wine tasting. Super friendly staff. There was only one shop open, besides the restaurant and wine tasting. I hope the can get one or two more. All in all, it was a lovely day. We will return for lunch and the gardens as often as we can. read more

OMG! Cornerstone Sonoma was recommended by the hosts at Inn on First, the BEST bed and breakfast in Napa. There's a lot to see at Cornerstone. There's wine to drink; we did not. There's food to eat; we did not. There are gardens to see... this we did and we took our time, we took photos and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The gardens at Cornerstone Sonoma are curated by artists, so each section is designed differently and yes, artistically. It's an visual experience that I feel is one of a kind. If you are anywhere near Cornerstone, you NEED to go! Aside from the amazing gardens, we visited one shop. So here's another OMG! I don't remember the name of the shop, but pretty much everything in the shop was made by local artists. And.. the largest wind chime I've ever seen hangs here. Seriously, if you're planning a trip to Napa or Sonoma, you need to put this spot on your list of must sees. read more

Attended a wedding here on a Saturday in August. Beautiful place with all the gardens and water features. Ceremony in one spot, move to the bar where cocktail hour is, then another setup for dinner and back at the bar for dancing and dessert. It's nice that it is all in one place but you move to different areas. Plenty of parking. Restrooms are a little far from the ceremony and reception areas, at least for grandma and if your feet hurt. read more

What happened to this once thriving place. I stopped by on a Sunday, on my way home from Napa, because they advertised live music and wanted to shop amongst the cool shops. But alas Covid-19 hit which hurt many of the shops and there are no more, not even a handful. On top of that there is a new owner of the complex and frankly not doing a great shop attracting businesses. I walked from empty store fronts to the only garden, gift store that has really cool items and I would consider the anchor store. There is a very small tasting room where people were gathered and one restaurant. That's it. The live music was playing in an open space courtyard with plenty of tables and food & drink. The storefront restaurant provides all this with their alfresco kitchen. The band was outstanding. I hope the new owner wants to turn this place around and fill the shops up again. This was once a thriving, cool stop for tourist and locals alike. read more

This place amazed me with a mish-mosh of tasting rooms, boutique wineries, eateries, galleries, beautiful gardens, rustic barn, etc. Spend a nice summer's day strolling through this public square. What a magical place and hidden gem in Sonoma, this place is better than many botanical gardens that I've been and it's all free to enter. I'm not one to love throwing parties but this place makes me want to have a fiesta! This place is so awesome-- I dig these types of spots where you can try different things, walk around, enjoy the morning/afternoon. This space is gorgeous and you could even spend some time here without spending any money. The gardens are gorgeous and surprisingly spacious for being free to roam. It was a lovely space to run around with our dog and kids. There's lounge seating and shaded tables/benches all over the grounds as well. Currently they have a coffee shop that is open daily, FolkTable restaurant (open Wed-Sun), 2 wine tasting rooms, and a couple little shops. Folktable has an awesome seasonal menu, and we picked up some gifts at the shops. read more

I used to really love coming to this place -- it has such a unique operation model. This includes their outdoor "to-go" station where you can order a casual snack or bite. I stood in line for almost 15m today (not because of the amount of people but the speed of service). All good -- that Sonoma pace of life! When it was my turn to order, I was told the kitchen was backed up and they could make a single order of fries. I could have a burger or salad--just no fries. Definitely a deal breaker for me--seeing as how I could have ordered fries inside and probably waited just as long. Unless you're coming on off hours or during the week--this spot has exceeded its capacity for good service. After eating brunch at Boon Fly I wanted to explore the area some more. Found this place on yelp and truly did not disappoint! The gardens and pond were so beautiful. I gotta give it to the ppl who maintain those plants, flowers annd bushes! This would definitely be a perfect place to grab a cup of coffee (which I did, peppermint mocha), wine tasting and just having a peaceful walk around the area. I've driven by Cornerstone Sonoma countless times on the way to wine country and beyond, but never thought much about it. Then a friend invited us to a play date there and I was surprised to learn that this is a really fun place to hang out with kids! There is plenty of outdoor space to explore and run around in. The gardens are lovely. Our kids (3, 4, and 6 years old) played for two hours, just exploring the grounds. There's a nice cafe walk-up window. We ordered hot chocolates, coffees, and pastries, which we enjoyed at the outdoor tables and while strolling around. I love anyplace with a walk up so she or outdoor kiosk. And not just because they're covid (and other illness) safe (especially important to me still with under-5s not yet eligible for vaccination) but because they make life so much more pleasant for dog lovers! And anywhere I can bring my kids AND dog is worth a return visit. Cornerstone is not just a place to pass on the way to a destination, but at only 20-25 minutes away from central Marin, it's worthwhile as a destination unto itself. read more

I stopped into Cornerstone with my parents while we were killing some time and it ended up being a lovely time! I wasn't anticipating Cornerstone to be as large as it was, but was pleasantly surprised to see such a variety of things to do at this spot. Upon parking, we entered into an area with a variety of boutiques, as well as a few small restaurants and tasting rooms. After we perused the shops, we made our way to the gardens. We visited in the Fall, so they had a gorgeous Fall display of pumpkins. Some of the gardens were a bit bare due to the season, but it was still a gorgeous property. In one area, they have a variety of herbs growing and the smell of lavender was phenomenal. We didn't partake in any of the tastings, but walking around the gardens and shops was a lovely way to spend a few hours. read more

A very nice stop on the road south of Sonoma. Sunset has many beautiful test gardens here and there are some nice boutiques. I'm trying to be a little more like Marie Kondo so I resisted the urge to buy a linen tank top that looked very similar to the one I was wearing. We had just finished wine tasting and nibbles so we did not visit any food outlets. A nice, upscale relaxing locale with a great tourist information office. I absolutely adore Cornerstone! Came here for the first time last year with some friends and tasted at Keating wines (it has since closed down) and had lunch at Park 121. I recently made my way back here for a wine tasting event and I'm blown away by this establishment! I had no idea that a beautiful garden, barnyard, and even vineyards were hiding in the back! Talk about a total surprise! I also got a chance to do a tasting in the Meadowcroft Winery tasting room and it was fabulous! This is such an excellent concept. You could literally come here, spend your entire day here, and leave satisfied! In addition to housing three tasting rooms, there's also tons of shops, a restaurant, and a pop-up ice cream truck in the courtyard! You can sip your wines while walking throughout the marketplace. If you choose to dine in at Park 121, there is no corkage fee if you are drinking a bottle of wine purchased from any of the featured tasting rooms. If you're stopping by, you should totally make your way to the gardens! I actually didn't get a chance to explore them as much as I wanted to, but the small bit that I did see was pretty impressive. There's a tunnel that will lead you to a small pond and a big grassy area in the back where I observed many kids playing. The barnyard is spacious and perfect for reserving events! Cornerstone Sonoma and the tasting rooms also have their own events there, so you should definitely check their website to see what's happening. Meadowcroft actually grows their Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines right behind this establishment! If you can, you should try and do a tour of their vineyards. It gets pretty hot in the summer, but the tour is very informative and super fun! I'm happy that I was able to fully explore this marketplace a second time around. There's so much to do here and it's a excellent spot to shop, eat, roam around, and wine taste in Sonoma! read more

This place is such a hidden gem! I had passed it countless times en route to wineries in Sonoma & Napa. Stopped by on a whim and am so glad we did! This place has cool rustic shops, casual cafes, an awesome distillery, and an amazing garden cultivated by Sunset magazine. I ate lunch at the outdoor kitchen at this place. It was a nice area and they had good live music but the food was grossly over priced. I ordered the hot chicken strips and a side of salt and pepper fries. The price was around $24.00- $25.00 dollars and didn't come with a drink. I was tempted to cancel my order because I'm on a budget but decided to try the food anyway. I was curious to see how it compared to an $11.00 order of chicken strips and fries I had the day before. I got four large strips of chicken that had been marinated in hot sauce, battered, and fried to a dark brown color. They didn't seem over cooked but the coating was too thick in places and hard to bite through. They had a garnish on them, and tasted good but weren't particularly hot. The fries were natural cut and season with salt and pepper. The size of the order was generous and they were cooked perfectly. Actually, it was one of the better orders of fries I've had in a while. They came with a great creamy dipping sauce. So what did I get for that extra $12.00-$13.00? I got hot sauce and a garnish on my strips, salt and pepper on my fries, and some live music. The fries were better than the one in the $11.00 order but the chicken strips were not. You decide if some seasoning and live music is worth the extra expense of this place. read more

We had our August 2021 (orig Aug 2020) wedding at Cornerstone. 1 star because the venue is absolutely beautiful. Our wedding was stunning, the photos were great and guests loved it. I felt like both sales managers, Susan and Samantha, were really interested in making our day special and exactly how we envisioned. We were so excited to have our wedding at Cornerstone when we booked in 2019. In May 2020, it became clear that we would need to reschedule our wedding due to covid...and here's where it quickly became a nightmare. Cornerstone is under new management, so the reviews from 2019 and prior are for a different team of folks than you would be working with. In order to reschedule my same exact wedding for a new date, Cornerstone asked for almost DOUBLE the venue and catering fees (for the exact same event). Suddenly there were many things previously included in the venue/catering that were no longer included, plus fees were increased, and many of the venue rules changed substantially from what we signed up for. We felt we were treated with hostility by Karin Rogers, the new management. It was almost laughable when she said the new fees were because they are now focused on "growth and profitability" In mid March 2020, they also asked to charge me early for the next payment, and I said sure - not at all expecting that later we would have to reschedule due to a global pandemic. We had paid for 100% of the venue fee, and ~70% of the catering costs, all of which were non-refundable, so we had little leverage, and I feel Cornerstone used this to their advantage. We finally (over the course of several very stressful calls and emails) negotiated an arrangement to reschedule for a lower fee, but the cost difference was still substantial, for the very same event. Then the event manager we were working with was furloughed, the chef who's food we loved was gone. We did a tasting and were not pleased with the new food - I literally got sick. Thankfully we redid the tasting and it was acceptable (still not as good as what we signed up for). All of this led to tremendous stress for several months, around what is supposed to be a very happy time. Also echoing Katie's review where she mentions slow service at dinner and an understaffed waiter team - because of this, we barely had any dancing at our event. People were walking around the tent during dinner because it was taking so long... In the end, our day was beautiful and we loved it, but I felt like others should know about what we experienced, since all wedding contracts say they cannot be canceled, but we felt in the face of the pandemic, this behavior was truly unacceptable. We had several other friends and family members with weddings impacted by the pandemic, and no one else faced such exorbitant fees and disputes in efforts to reschedule. read more

So interesting there are not any wedding venue reviews since after 2018...hhmm so weird right (with the exception to the fake one by "Tyten"? Well, let me tell you: it's probably intentional because this place really screwed the pooch and by pooch I mean my wedding. We signed with cornerstone pre-covid when I thought we were booking with a sweet mom & pop, boutique venue. THEN come to find out in the midst of an unanticipated pandemic, the venue was purchased by Wine Country giant, Sonoma's "Best" (which is laughable now because they are quite literally Sonoma's Worst). Who cares right? Well we sure did when we were FORCED into paying $10,000 MORE to reschedule our 2020 wedding to 2021. Working with the new guard (Karin Rogers) was certainly the most stressful and heartbreaking experience we've been through. They were so inflexible, treated us as if we were idiots, and all they cared about the was bottom line. Making money. They are greedy. After we got over that very expensive pill and once we swallowed, things just went from bad to worse. Particularly on our wedding day: Our point of contact was like 6 hours late to load in (which is fine, but nobody knew. Communicate that) Gardners were setting up our tables/chairs (symptom of Covid or a shitty employer so hiring wasn't where it should be?) Guests of the grounds were allowed into the barn (when they shouldn't have been) and trying to take our custom wedding match books Head of catering (Chris Madrid) was very very not nice to my wedding planner and florist (wtf.) Served my boozy popsicles (that they forced me to pay double for) melted. MELTED! (Wtf #2) I had 185 guests and they only had 12 servers thus our dinner was served an hour late which cut into our 2 hour reception so we only got 1 hour of dancing :( AND: 1 hour less of our open bar, 1 hour less of our Photo Booth, 1 hour less of our DJ, 1 hour less of dance floor memories (priceless) To make all these matter worse, we simply asked them to compensate us for the hour we missed with the open bar and photo booth and they offered ZERO apologies, empathy or remorse. Instead came back arguing with the fact that they messed up. Had they, this review might not have been so detailed. I recognize that a lot of this is a symptom of Covid. And I can get past that, but be kind Cornerstone. Treat your couples with some respect. This was the single most expensive item/service we have EVER made and poured our hearts and souls into this day and Cornerstone ruined so much of it. I understand wanting a gorgeous wedding and venue, and did I? Sure, yes it was beautiful. But working with these monsters was so emotionally taxing. So taxing it has taken me 127 days to write this. Advice for the couple: Don't book them. If you book them, make sure you add a clause in the review that spells out what happens IF the contractor does not deliver. The contract they use currently just spells out deliverables. There's nothing about lack of execution. I know the grounds are gorgeous, but when you pay over $50K for all we did with Cornerstone and are treated the way we were, its truly NOT worth it. Cornerstone, if you are reading this, here's some advice (because you really need it) from your couple on the 7/17/21 wedding: 1 - focus on your high paying customers first and make their days perfect. A good reputation goes far and a referral or ding on your service will exponentially impact you. If you do good by your customers the business will flow. 2 - be a partner to your vendors and treat them with respect. It's a small community especially after covid with tight knit groups who've shared many best practices ESPECIALLY after covid hit them all hard. They are small businesses and work really hard to give their clients a wonderful experience. The word gets out with a bad experience and... wedding planners have a lot of clout. 3 - hire. Get Sallie some help. Get your other account managers help. You all are stretched too thin and have green people doing the job of seasoned folks. Perhaps if you all were nicer from the top down you would attract more talent. I assume it's a small community for catering as well.  I really hope you all take a deep look inside after the mess you all made on 7/17/21 not just for us, but the other couple who also had a wedding on your property the same day. Again- the wedding community is small and if you take anything from this note, I hope that it's that no other couple experiences the poor attitude from all of you or the delays that we did. read more
