Staff was friendly, and I went here last week because it came highly recommended. Unfortunately, I had a really bad experience. I went in for an adjustment on 8/30. Dr. Mikey focused on 3 points (lower, mid back, and neck). No cracking sound or pop on my back (she was struggling with popping/adjusting my back). I felt pain later in the night. I woke up with my mid back swollen and had trouble breathing normally unless my back is postured a certain way. I ended up at Tripler Hospital at noon 8/31 (less than 24 hours of the so-called adjustment) for assistance because I was struggling to breathe. I felt pain in the back when trying to breathe normally, and so would find myself gasping for air. I was very disappointed...Dr. Mikey should do less talking and more focus on doing a good job with actually adjusting the back. And I felt like she was talking so much that all she focused on was pushing the $1k plus plan for three months to keep coming back for more "adjustments." Talk about having a hidden agenda. I don't recommend this place, or at the very least-Dr. Mikey. Aggressive sales tactic and didn't properly adjust. I felt scammed with the amount of money spent (with one visit full of talking (no adjustment), and the other visit (less than 10 min) with a phony "adjustment." read more

Don't go here! This place is a scam!! I had a referral from my PCP and called to see if they accepted my insurance (I have two different types of medical insurances) they said they took one but not the other, so I booked an apt. The day of my apt I brought my own X-rays (taken days before this apt) that the hospital took of my lower back and hip. I had to pay for more X-rays and was told that money would go towards my co-pay, that it took the office 24 hours to verify my insurance (weird but this was my first time going to a chiropractor in Hawaii). The first visit with Dr Chad he tried to adjust me. He failed and said he'd review my X-rays to come up with a plan for my unique problem and that I should come back next week. Fast forward, my second apt he gave me a review of my X-ray pointing out things wrong with my neck. I was there bc of lower back and hip pain. Then he walked me through a "treatment" plan that would take nearly a year with 12 adjustments the first month followed by home care and home exercises (which are not only preventive measures but would relieve pain and discomfort I was currently in which would not be given until months later after he "got to know me"). This was then followed by a reassessment that I assume can only be more X-rays and neuroscope. At the end of the apt he told me that my insurance wasn't accepted and that they only accept two kinds of insurance. Then proceeded on selling me why I should make a payment plan ($1,000 out of pocket) rather than find someone in my network. - The office lied about taking my insurance to get me in the door - Dr Chad is more concerned on selling his services rather than providing care - Dr Chad doesn't listen to the patient - Dr Chad is inexperienced and couldn't adjust me read more

Cornerstone Community Chiropractic is a wonderful office of 4 chiropractors that are at the top of their game. They are specific, check your spine to make sure they are only adjusting where it needs to be adjusted, and are quick and efficient. I've had great results so far, barely have back pain (I used to suffer from back pain almost daily), and they even caught a spine injury that no one has found in over 20 years. They are thorough and caught that I had whiplash after a car accident that a doctor had cleared me of. First let me say I have been seeing Dr. Aki for about 3 years. He and his staff are always friendly, attentive and joyful to see the patients. I have been to several chiropractors across the years and this is the best care I have ever received. I had a real bad experience several years ago with a doctor who just wanted to put heat on me and crack my neck. They never wanted to work on the foundation. A house built on rock will stand through the storm, the one built on sand will fall. In the case of your back the foundation makes the difference all the way to your head. After searching for years and considering surgery on my blown out back(L4, L5), Cornerstone Chiropractic was recommended by my General Doctor. Do not go here at all. First appointment took a week to schedule then when i arrived the chiropractor proceeded to talk about chiropractic work and show me a spine model for 35 minutes. Afterwards i had to remove my shirt and have a heat detector on my back to find where my correction needed to be done. All is fine but then he proceeds to sell me on getting a xray to find where he needs to work exactly... so im finding out this guy knows nothing about his job. I get the xray it costs $47 and he proceeds to tell me he needs to examine the xray before i can get work done. The next appointment is in 2 weeks...2 WEEKS TO FIX MY PAIN IM HAVING AFTER TALKING FOR AN HOUR. I've been to numerous chiropractors before and most of them adjust you and feel pretty good for a day or two then the problems come back. That is until I started going to Gonstead Method Chiropractors and I must give credit where credit is due. Dr. Dennis Ronduen in the Aiea Medical Building was my first Gonstead Chiropractor and I have the most awesome results. I would still go to him If my schedule would allow it. But with me no longer working at Hickam and Kaneohe, I try to avoid going anywhere past Pearl City because traffic is so horrendous now. And now to Dr. Aki and Cornerstone Chiropractic. They just opened a few weeks ago and I was needing an adjustment as it's been a few months so I wanted to see if there were any other Gonstead practitioners closer to me. I was estatic when Dr. Aki popped up in Laulani village of all places which is about a 5 minute drive from my house and about a 15 minute drive from my work making it totally convenient for me. I made an appointment right away and my first impressions of the place was that it was very professional very clean and very Feng Shue. .. Chua his wife runs the office side and she was very pleasant to work with. Everything is new and he even has his very own xray machine and each of his Chiropractic Equipment is brand spanking new. They had a new client special and on my initial consultation Dr.Aki was very thorough. He checked my entire spine with his handheld machine that pinpointed the problem areas along my spine. He then marked them with bb's and taped them so that he could xray them and the next time he could go over a plan of action with me and then get my first adjustment. Yesterday was my first adjustment and again he was very thorough with both of us devising a plan. We went over payment options and prices and after breaking it down, it's very affordable. After all that, he adjusted my lower back /tailbone first and I immediately felt release of tension. He even told me and showed me the proper way of getting up. He then moved me to another piece of equipment and adjusted my mid back. Again instant relief and felt my spine shift to the left as its curving too much to the right. Lastly, we then moved to one last piece of equipment and he adjusted my neck and shoulders and again instant relief. He even showed me proper posture to massage as he was a massage therapist prior to becoming a chiropractor, how cool is that. Dr.Aki is a very well rounded individual. My son sees Dr Norm in this office. He was so thorough in explaining the process and what the X-ray read. My son was nervous as it was his first time seeing a chiro esp on the neck adjustment but it was done before he knew it. When we were in the changing room he told me it felt good. He now looks forward to his adjustments. He's on a treatment plan - once a week as he is only 6. That neuroscope is amazing. One of the readings Dr Norm picked up was by his upper back area and asked me if he has allergies or asthma or any auto immune and I'm like not that I'm aware of but told him he does have this one thing where whenever he plays at the park or any grassy area or at the beach etc around 1-2 days later he'll bust out in this rash looking thing that's bubbled up. Well last week when we were at the beach he got that rash/hives looking thing and it went away faster than normal. His first time having that, I took him to the pediatrician and she said it was probably ant bites. The next time I took him she said it's empatigo. Another time she said it was dust mites under his skin. And of course was prescribed some creams...so glad to have researched on gonstead chiro and was referred by Dr. Mohammad Samman who is also a gonstead chiro in the ATL and my cousin in law. Dr. Oshita...but we call him Dr. Aki, is a wonderful person and his staff have all been really great to work with. Dr. Aki helped me through a compression fracture in my spine (after 6 months of PT didn't help) as well as my recovery from knee replacement surgery (I had a great PT but he helped me get back to feeling like myself again with his adjustments). There is never fear when going to him...he is gentle and considerate. The only thing is that he is not able to take medicare patients. I believe in alternative/natural methods when it comes to my health. I been dealing with shoulder pain that is work related for years. With 16years in my industry and age lol this time around the pain was unbearable!! Went to my doctor they game me cortisone shots and ibuprofen 800 yikkeess! It was a quick fix, but I knew I needed to find other options that wasn't going to heavily medicate me or worse surgery. If you want to experience professional, well educated and a warm hearted staff..this is the place! From my initial consult and X-rays, to planning my recovery and adjustments needed. I was very impressed how knowledgeable and thorough they were able to pinpoint all my health issues I have had for years , just based off of my X-ray! 12 Adjustments later,wellness classes and home care class later( provided with care plan) I can finally sleep better, I had a lump on the back of my upper neck that was collecting fluid totally disappeared after 3adjustments. Unfortunately my insurance Kaiser does not cover chiropractor, but they have many options to help you find a comfortable payment plan. Believe me if I can afford it(Hairstylist by trade ) and your health is priority, you can justify this! Dr. Aki ruined my life!!! Dr. Aki violently twist popped my neck damaging my nervous system the sound was horrific like a bowling ball dropping on wood in a bowling alley along with a ripping sound! He put me in the E.R. and he not only gave me a neck injury where the top two vertebrate are crooked and slipped up... the WORST part is he damaged my nervous system!!! He gave me the most painful nerve disease there is called, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) also nicknamed the "suicide disease."My nerves send constant pain signals to my brain and electricute me from the inside. Thanks to Dr. Aki I now experience pain levels as high as child labor on a daily basis! I'm crying as I type this now. There is NO CURE for CRPS. I just underwent a two week medicated ketamine infusions my blood with a horse tranquilizer to numb my nerves. My life is drs appts and extreme pain so bad I can barely get out of bed so because of this I'm severely depressed. I'm age 37 and a mom of a son age 5 and daughter age 4. He stole my life, he stole the mom I should have been to my kids, and stole the happy wife my husband married. I can't have a 3rd child because of what he did to me. I was a gymnast and dancer and naturally athletic so this has been devastating to my life. Everything is ruined, my health, my ability to grow my family, my happiness, my finances. Seeing that man was THEE WORST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE! Mamed me for life and I think he could potentially kill a patient. Dr. Aki is a wreckless hack who should have his chiropractic license revoked.
