    Receipt with mask
    Andrew M.

Update: Owner of store responded on here and messages saying that their video surveillance tells a different story. CCTV cams and business surveillance cameras are not allowed to record sound in NY and most states without explicit consent. For lying and/or illegal surveillance I'm giving this store a 1 and possibly reporting this. I remember when True Value was legit. Hostile, invading privacy, judgemental. I don't think I'll be returning. Only reason I gave a 1 is because some of the staff is excellent with product recommendations and horticulture and they're very kind. Parking is free. Otherwise a 0 and here's why. 1. My mask slipped down when I sipped from my closed bottle of water. (85 degrees today and no sign saying closed water isn't allowed.) 2. After apologizing and immediately fixing mask, the girls at the register were going on and on about making announcements that improper mask users should be called out and banned. And how hungry they were, so maybe I was a victim of hanger. 3. Feeling intimidated and a little threatened, I apologized again. It wasn't accepted. They still took two customers before me as I waited in line socially distanced. (I'm sure they've made honest mistakes and wanted forgiveness after profusely apologizing. We're all human.) 4. Invasion of privacy. At checkout one of the girls asked why I had mace on my keychain. I replied that it's legally bought pepper spray (much different, and I have to show ID to get it), and that we're outside NYC where there's been a huge spike in killings and violence. I shouldn't have to educate people who are judging my personal belongings. This store should hire less antisocial people. 5. The fan I got there last week doesn't work. Thankfully Amazon, Lowes, and Home Depot like customers and don't try to make them feel unsafe. I understand there's a lot of social justice pressure to shop at small businesses, but small businesses need to respect customers to get them to return. Otherwise do a GoFundMe if you can't get conversion. Not everyone is built for sales. I have no guilt getting all this from Amazon. I just happened to be passing this store. In the future, I will make sure not to stop in.

As a follow up to my own going dealings with Sal from NYC Fireplaces, Please see the attached email…read moreI just received today! I am going into month 3 of having a nonfunctioning, unuseable outdoor kitchen which still remains a half built shell on my back deck because Sal sold me a damaged, subpar outdoor kitchen which he refuses to provide any level of customer service! This business owner cares about one thing and one thing only... HIMSELF! He does not care what happens to you after your check or credit card clears! As seen in the attached image, Sal from NYC fireplaces has revoked even the smallest simplest gesture of customer service since I wrote a negative review! This man thinks his word is all that matters in this world and does not believe that actions speak louder than words! Another tit for tat expectation from a shotty self centered looser of a business owner! RUN RUN RUN from this company! Go to absolutely anyone else! This man is a thief. This man is a corrupt business owner. My credit card company says numerous people have opened claims against this man! Even the OEM manufacturer of the kitchen island has said they will be refusing to allow this man to represent their company moving forward! Do not fall for all his positive reviews! They are admitted friends who he has leveraged to boost his scores!

They had the best price I could find online which is why I went with them. A few days after the order I realized I had made a mistake - I ordered a dual fuel wood/natural gas oven, when I actually needed dual fuel wood/propane. I called and spoke to Luca who immediately made the change in their system. The oven was delivered the next day and the delivery person was extremely courteous and helpful. Again, I made another mistake. I forgot to order the stand to put the pizza oven on. I called Luca again and he took payment for the stand and offered to waive the FedEx costs since I paid for assembly initially. That would have been great customer service already, but to go a step further, Luca called me back and said they would put it on a truck and deliver it that same day. Such a great experience!

I called this morning at 9:30 AM and left a message that I was interested in a gas fireplace insert. Since I did not hear back for a couple of hours (which itself was a bad sign), I decided to visit the showroom. My mistake. When I arrived, the door was locked so I rang the doorbell which looked to have an intercom and a buzzer which would allow the door to be unlocked from inside or have someone say they were coming to let me in. I waited for a couple of minutes but I did not get a response. I rang again and again didn't get a response. I tried to open the door thinking the buzzer might be broken but that the door might have been unlocked. I looked at the signs and confirmed that the showroom was supposed to be open. At this point, I was thinking that I drove 20 minutes to the showroom only to find it was closed. After waiting for another couple of minutes, I tried ringing a third time. I thought I might have heard the intercom or the buzzer so I tried to open the door. All of a sudden, the door flew open and I was confronted by what can only be described as a deranged man with a face contorted by anger. He got up in my face yelling at me to "stop shaking my door." Before I could even get out a single word explaining to him that I had been waiting for 5 minutes and was a customer just trying to visit his showroom, he screamed at me to "get the f/k outta here." I actually thought he might get violent. The entire episode lasted for less than a minute. He actually did me a favor by yelling me at to leave. If you are reading this, you too should listen to him and never enter the store. After reading some of the online reviews, I'm assuming this person is Victor, who has been variously described as unreasonable, obnoxious, condescending and rude. I can only add that the person that confronted me was an angry, miserable person with psychological issues. I can't imagine the headaches someone would have if they did purchase anything from this Company and had to deal with this person.

Most of the staff is knowledgeable and answered most of my questions. It is Larchmont so the prices will vary but it seems justifiable seeing how much work goes into the plants here. The boss lady here seems pretty old school very on top of her employees, i was able to talk to her for a while and man can that lady talk. Very hard working woman, knowledgeable and a little feisty. Overall it's a great place. You can even just go for a stroll, plus it's wheel chair accessible. Whatever you need it seems like this place has it i'm definitely going to stop by here more often.
