I want to begin by highlighting the prompt response I received when I inquired about their services. One of the most important details for me is quick response. Alexander was quick to respond and made an availability that was not only quick but worked for me. I'm a registered nurse who has two jobs and flexibility and time management is big for me. I appreciated the understanding and willingness to work with my schedule. The home inspection was very thorough. I am looking to tear up the laminate floor (disgusting) and thanks to Alexander I found out that my old home (built in 1930s) lacks more foundational support. How did he know? He got down and fit himself as best as he could (on the ground) to check the foundation on the floor (also very well dressed and professional attire). Without asking him Alexander checked every detail of my home from the inside,outside,corner, etc. His quoting? Very fair and I've consulted DTLA architects as well as contractors and the pricing is very fair. He's very open to ideas and has a plethora of recommendations. What's important to me, is to be listened to and not be persuaded against my vision. I am looking forward to not only replacing my disgusting laminate floor and having more foundation support but I am excited to also remodel my entire home. Really disappointed with my experience here. I scheduled an appointment with Alex to discuss an ADU project, but the day of, his employee just never showed up--no call, no text, nothing. I waited an hour and finally reached out to Alex, but instead of apologizing for the wasted time, he told me his employee had a family emergency and basically told me about being more respectful. I get that emergencies happen, but it's just common courtesy to let a client know you can't make it. The total lack of communication and the defensive attitude really turned me off. Alexsander did an amazing job for me, I hired him for my project in Downey. He was very professional, clean, responsive and got the job done in a timely manner. As problems came up during construction, he presented solutions right away. He built from the ground a two-story apartment and converted a garage into an ADU. The cost of the construction was decent and the quality in material and labor was great. I would hire him again and I have been looking for other projects to do with him already. read more

Alex did a project for me. For the unreasonably high price I was charged, and the poor quality of his work, I would NEVER recommend him. Working with him was a nightmare. Anyone reading this message, I believe the photos on here are fake- they do not represent the work he did for me. All of the materials he uses are the lowest cost, scraps from former jobs, they steal things you buy. They butchered everything, I had to spend so much money to correct all of the errors. I can't believe he has a license. I also believe the Better Business Bureau has multiple complaints. All of his work falls apart. This is a huge warning. He will probably quote a lower price, raise it by 40% and then harassment and disrespect goes along with multiple damage and repairs you will have to fix due to the gross incompetence. Please do your research and do not go with someone who "appears" to have a legitimate business, comes across knowledgeable, but will completely take advantage of his clients once you sign a contract. And he does all of this with a rude, condescending and nasty attitude at the end. Hiring him is the biggest regret I have. I can't walk 5 steps without seeing all of his damage. I honestly do not know how in good conscience he lives with all of the projects he's destroyed. He would be better off working in demolition. Building and working hard for his clients does not matter to him. He will swindle and take advantage of his clients. I had hoped our experience with Cornejo's Builders could have been better. Although our project was completed, it would be a disservice to others who are considering these high-priced ADU projects to say everything went well. In short, many things went wrong with our ADU project. The workmanship was substandard and had to be redone in different areas of the building because it was just that bad and caused further delays. The project was three months overdue and 1.5 years later, I am currently dealing with roof drain issues that were improperly installed. Plumbing from the washroom that is now leaking and stucco that is cracking on a deck. It really sucks to have to see all this show up this quickly. For anybody who is considering hiring any contractor, document everything every day, take lots of notes and pictures from every angle, and do your homework. Inspect all the work that was done on that day. Question everything if you have doubts. Communicate only through texts and email as this will document your attempts to remedy any issues. Get everything in writing. Spoken words do not count and don't matter in this arena. In closing, it's a bit disappointing to write this review because Alex does seem like a great young man outside of construction, but after a bit of reflection, in my opinion, I think his ambition is too extreme and is leaving a trail of disasters and upset people. I had three leads for Cornejo's Builders but after our experience, I advised against it. PS. I wouldn't recommend this builder for any remodel or ADU build. I'll take the time to break down why and help you understand my experience. Perhaps this will help you make a educated choice when it comes to any possible work you're hoping to achieve with your property when considering this contractor service. After meeting with several contractors I decided to use Cornejo Builders for updates to the backside of my house including working 1200 squ feet of pavers, updates to garage including putting in a toilet, drywalling, windows, and new floor, and also pool plans. Also a new slab front porch in-front of house. I paid his 350 dollar consulting fee which was promised to be takin out of cost of job (gimmick). It was spoken that I wanted to wait a few months to save some money for the job. So months after now that I've saved money I reach out and he asked me to send me a detailed email. I gathered photos and detailed drawings with measurements for him to see. I also spent a few hours writing out the detailed email with drawings to simplify and make the easiest understanding. After spending all that prep I sent email and got radio silence. I sent a few follow up text asking if he received email and asking if he was still perhaps interested in job = more radio silence. Finally I get a text back that he was on vacation. Then we talk some more, then again radio silence. This process going on for weeks and weeks.... Hearing every excuse in the book from food poisoning, another vacation, his venders where on vacation. List goes on with excuses. Finally he comes over AGAIN but this time with his father and they look at the scope of the project. All while telling me they want this project and are "motivated" which ofcourse at this point I was feeling doubtful. Then I get a proposal price for 1/3 the project and with things that where not spoken about. At this time I also discover he never looked at the email he asked me to put together. He says he will go back and look at email now. Radio silence again..... vender is somehow on vacation again. Then date of agreed project start time comes up. I asked if we are still on time and he responds yes. Then again radio silence for a week passing the agreed date of Project. I finally send my last text asking if he could please send the updated proposal and if we could include a time stipulation in contract because I have put a lot of my time in project trying to get it going and that we are past the agreed start time.. I get the response.... "Good morning sterling Unfortunately at this time we won't be able to help you and move forward with the project. I do apologize for the inconvenience. Good luck " So for those who took the time to read the detailed experience I had... this is what you could expect. Perhaps you may get lucky and catch Cornejo builders on a good day. You're gamble. I believe I deserve my consultation fee back out of good faith and being dragged through the mud with they're time being the only thing considered here.. Doubt they'd ever consider that. This type of ethos is what gives the view of contractors a bad taste in the general population of home owners mouths. Low bar, terrible communication, and not catering to the home owners experience and time. PS - Also, I am an economist for a living working in consumer indexes for market analytics. 2 weeks ago - They tried to lie and tell me the lumber prices and materials where still at pandemic highs regarding the pricing..... I'm here to tell you this is far from true. An absolute lie and attempt to gauge prices. Lumber is continuing to fall and is expect to be at 380.00/1000 board feet in 12 months time. Be careful out there! I chose not to give just one star because I believe if they worked in they're time management skills/ communication they could achieve better results and happier customers. Turns out he didn't do what he said he would...I will be reporting to the Better Business Bureau.....Also considering legal action. When we started to ask questions, he ghosted us. I feel foolish seeing now that someone else had an almost identical experience. If you choose to work with Alex Cornejo in the future, you'll notice that he will be really friendly and talk about how other contractors will screw you but he won't. It's his way of getting you to let your guard down. He will make you sign electronically and won't bring any copies with him, but promising he will send it later. Then, he won't give you the contract without repeatedly asking. However, if he does give you a copy, the contract will leave out the work he is supposed to do. Upon further inspection you'll notice the only work that is mentioned references an addendum that he won't ever give you. His contracts are unnecessarily long and complicated. He took advantage of the fact we were first time home owners and in a tough spot because we needed a contractor ASAP. I'm so glad to have found an honest and knowledgeable contractor that saw how Alex Cornejo didn't do anything to code. I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt but turns out these new code are 5+ years old. I spoke with the city and they confirmed it. No excuses! Oh and I can't forget how his men left so many beer cans in our trash. Sure it's nice to clean up after themselves but sketch that they think it's okay to get drunk on the job....we didn't say anything because at the time we thought Alex had done us a solid but turns out that wasn't true. read more

If I could give this loser zero stars I would! He totally ripped us off! We signed a contract for an electrical job and kitchen rebuild and this man literally took $7k from us and never came back! All I can say to everyone is PLZ PLZ PLZ don't hire this boy! I say boy because he's not a man and he looks like he's 12! He doesn't know what he's talking about when it comes to work but he was quick to ask for money. My mom not knowing any better gave it to him and then he ghosted her! He has blocked all our calls and won't answer any emails. We have reported him and will continue to do so. I hope he never gets another job a day in his life for what he did to my family!
