Soooo. This is not my first review. I usually love the food there, but today I ordered some food for myself and my 84 year old mom. She probably was looking forward to her turkey wings, but unfortunately, they were not tender or falling off the bones. My mom used to cook often and is usually rough when it comes to critiquing outside food. But.... I definitely had to agree with her. Please do better with making the turkey wings tender. First, don't expect fine dining or a true sit down restaurant when you come here. Despite ample seating, it's more of a fast casual spot. There's kiosks to order and a live cashier at Chipotle like stations. Everything looks clean and well maintained. Now, we were definitely pleasantly surprised by the food. I had the pleasure of going to Cornbread in Brooklyn this weekend. The catfish entree came with 2 pieces and had the option of one or 2 sides and complimentary cornbread. I chose collared greens and Mac and cheese for my sides. The catfish was seasoned very well with a light batter. Fish was delicious and juicy. Collared greens were also cooked well. Mac and cheese was cheesy with a decent cheese pull. I really enjoyed the cornbread which was fluffy and buttery. I think the peach cobbler was okay tho. The staff were iffy with customer service as they didn't respond to my pleasantries but the gentleman that put my order together was nice enough to add another piece of chicken. Consistently tasty fish and chicken in Crown Heights. I came here on a whim one evening because of the high ratings and reviews. The proteins did no my disappoint. Since then, I've been back 2 times (in about a month). I even find myself craving the flaky lightly fried fish...yummmmmmy. I typically get the catfish and fried chicken wings here. I'm not big on the sides, but if you must, have the yams and the potato salad, and of COURSE the yummy cornbread. The peach cobbler is a tasty dessert option. The place is brightly lit and has two accessible gender neutral restrooms.
