One of the few restaurants we enjoy. They have a good selection to choose from on the menu. The food is always good. I would have given them 4 stars but the last handful of times we dined here the wait for service was shockingly long. Not sure if there was a transition period with wait staff leaving (it seems like there's only 2 maybe 3 waiters). If we go we order our drinks and appetizer the first time the waiter greets. I love Corktree Cellars and dine there often. The food is delicious and unique, the location is perfect, and the ambience is both casual and classy. Service can be slow on occasion, but there are so many great staffers that they more than make up for the one or two who are less helpful. Disappointing...........We drove from Santa Barbara to Carpinteria after viewing their menu online. The lobster melt sandwich sounded delicious. We arrived for lunch. We ordered the sandwich with rosemary parmesan fries. The food was bland and uninteresting. Fries were great. Ambience and decor were very nice. read more

Came here with the family for dinner tonight, we were seated right away, We were served immediately. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms (which were amazing!!) and the bread plates which had a crushed olive spread, garlic spread, and oil and balsamic. They have a nice assortment of wines but you do had to pay a $10 cork fee if you purchase a bottle of their wines (which I personally do not understand) I ordered the Kobe burger and truffled fries. I ordered the burger medium but it tasted well done so I let the server know. He came back and apologized and took it off our bill bc they want everything to taste perfect! I thought that was really cool of them to do that. The truffled fries were out of this world! Then for dessert the wife and I split the hot fresh cinnamon and sugar doughnuts. Kelsey was our server, and she was FANTASTIC! Great smile and knowlegable about the foods. Super helpful when we had to decorate the tables with a few candies and some flowers - we had a wedding shower on the patio. They facility was very accomodating for our size group (21) and there was a lot of room at the table (the guests didn't feel too smushed - with such a large group that can happen). I had the delicious chicken panini with ranch fries, and other's around me enjoyed the Figgy Burger, Bits of Heaven, Steak Panini, and Ahi Salad - the service we received was excellent, the food recieved nothing but rants and raves. Constantly filling our drinks/waters, quick to bring sides (like ketchup and ranch) at our request. A++ service. A++ food. Great flavor, and kudos to the cooks who executed a perfect lunch-party - no returns or wrong orders. The staff was wonderful! We work locally in Carpinteria and often do "Birthday Club" lunches, vendor lunches, and happy hour, we will definitely be hitting this spot again soon! Such a disappointment. We sat for 15 minutes without any service and then, only received attention when we flagged down a waitress. Although she was very pleasant, the overall service left much to be desired. Plates piled up as courses were served. Dessert was served with a table full of dirty dishes and without any silverware. This was our favorite restaurant in Carp. The food was good and the setting is warm. However, the service was choppy at best. After our last experience we would not come back. The food was great but the service left our entire party very agitated. Our waitress was disengaged and she brought us food we did not order. We were too nice to send it back and have it taken off our bill. To top it off, we were slapped with a big party surcharge. Yes, while we did have 7 people , but there were only 4 adults and three kids. This I felt was quite unjust and unnecessary. While we live in Carp and are eager to have a local place to enjoy a nice meal, I not ready to comprise between good food and service. I can go to SB to get both. read more

I have eaten here several times and have watched it steadily go downhill. There are not a lot of good dinner options in Carpinteria so it is sad to see this place fail. Went last night and my husbands pizza was terrible with giant slices of uncooked tomato and pesto sauce on a margarita pizza. my mom got tuna tartare and it was in giant hunks we had to ask for it to be chopped like tartare and it was beyond bland. My daughter got chicken tenders and the breading was thick and was too spicy for her. I got a Cesar salad with steak (a $15 salad) and asked for the steak to be medium rare closer to rare and extra dressing on the side. I got the salad it had no dressing on it or on the side and it came with 5 little slices of steak that were well done. I sent it back and got a salad with dressing on the side only and raw steak. I sent back the steak again and said forget the steak and proceeded to eat the salad. All the lettuce was brown and wilted it was horrible. Of course I didn't pay for it but the entire meal was just terrible. This was the case the last time we went as well. The restaurant was basically empty on a Sunday evening and while the waitress was nice to our faces I saw them making comments about our continued complaints about the food (because it was awful) when they thought we couldn't see them. My friend and I enjoyed a late leisurely lunch here yesterday, our first time. It was recommended by one of the local shop owners. Food, service and ambience were excellent. The unexpected wide selection of French fries is the best I've experienced: my friend had the truffle parmesan fries and I had the sweet potato fries with a dipping sauce--both excellent (we opted for the fries instead of the side salad because they sounded so unique and our server recommended them). My fish taco was made with halibut and was an ample portion; the flavors were superb. My friend loved her chicken club sandwich. The only downside is that we were unable to sit on the patio because there wasn't room for a walker to pass due to the other patrons sitting at tables closest to the patio door. The bill for the above came to $27.50, before tax and tip. Highly recommend. read more

I have been to Corktree a few times over the years and the food as been consistently delicious. The wait staff has always been polite and friendly too. They have a great wine selection and I have enjoyed the flight option on different occasions. The dining room is beautifully decorated. This place is a bit on the pricey side so be prepared for that. We had a delicious meal tonight with outstanding service led by Lindsey, but provided by all who touched our table! We started with the margarita flatbread (relish!), the calamari (lightly breaded with two sauces) and the ceviche (our least fave item of the evening). Our daughter had the soup of the day (tomato basil) which she brilliantly paired with the grilled cheese from the kids menu! The steak frites and cioppino were out of this world! Perfect blend of spices and flavors that did not disappoint! We had a little soup spill and the staff could not have been kinder and more helpful! We will definitely be back!! I've only really had drinks, appetizers, and desserts here, but for the money, it was a lovely experience. Wish they had more cozy couches or seats for just lounging and enjoying drinks with close friends and loved ones. Ordered lobster roll yesterday. Obviously their chef has never been to Maine or read a recipe. It came smoothed in cheese. By the time I scraped the cheese off there was little meat left. Had a lobster roll there in July and it was made the right way. My friend ordered a Salmon BLT. He was disappointed also. Have to try another restaurant next time. Stopped by this place at the recommendation of some friends. All I can say is WOW! At first when I looked at the menu I was a bit turned off...burgers, sandwiches, salads...hmmm, not what I would expect from a trendy looking wine bar. But...wow, great food, great wine, and at a very good price. We had the lobster truffle mac and cheese, talk about taking a food to a new level. We also had a sandwich and salad that were out of this world. Nice fresh mixed greens, very light on the dressing. The two wine flights we had were also great...not a dog in the bunch. I generally like this place. The food has improved greatly over the years, and it's a nice option to have in Carpinteria. The manager is always very nice; however we have had the same waitress (long brown haired girl) the last couple of times and she is awful. She could be the only reason I won't come back. First time, she was just rude. No smiles and seemed annoyed that our table of 5 people kept ordering drinks. Excuse us for giving YOU money! She only came by to take our initial order, to bring us our order, and to drop off the bill...and by that, I mean she walked by and put it on our table without saying a word. We had to waive her down for all other needs. Second time, our party (of 4 people) arrive at 6:30 p.m. for dinner and the restaurant was half empty. We did not have a reservation, and she said all the table are reserved and just stood there. We had to ask her if we could be on the waiting wait and how long of a wait to expect to which she replied, "8:30." Okay, we'll just leave. Luckily, the manager came around and was much more helpful. She said she could get us a table shortly. We were seated and unfortunately got the same rude waitress - only slightly better experience than last time which isn't saying much. We finished our meal and noticed that the so-called "reserved" tables were still empty. If I get the same rude waitress the next time I go in, I will never give them my business again. I live in town, so this is a regular place for me. I can honestly that say I've never had a bad meal here. They just seem to hit that sweet spot between high-quality food and a good price. It can get a bit noisy on weekend nights and the seating is sometimes a bit "cozy" when it's full, but never obnoxiously so. Went there last Friday during "First Friday" in Carp. Got there early and ordered a burger - so did my friends. Mine was supposed to be medium rare with bacon. The bacon looked like it has been cooked the day before and the lettuce on the burger was disgustingly limp and gross. The burger was supposedly Kobe but it was cooked so well done who would have known. I ordered the rosemary fries but got parmesan. Please people, get it right the first time. My friend and I stayed in Carp Saturday night and had seen this restaurant the last time we were in town and decided to give it a try. Excellent! The service, food and prices were fabulous (especially since Carp is a tourist town). We had THE MURPH sandwich and it was AMAZING! There was enough to take half a sandwich home for the next day. Don't bother! Waitress was sick with cough while serving. Ordered the wrong entree for one party in group. I asked for a well done burger for my daughter and half was red in centre, which I didn't notice until it was too late. Linguine was so salty and garlicky that my stomach hurt almost immediately. I could barely eat it and was never asked how the meal was. Waitress didn't care about health risk associated with raw meat. No apologies = no return business. We visit a Carpinteria every year. Don't order the bread plate! It will make you never want to come back because they serve you wonder bread type stuff with that high fructose corn syrup white bread tast. Horrible.
