I've been here 2-3 times so far, and each time I've been ignored as I've walked in. "How are ya doing?" I ask. Silence. *sigh* Ok, I'll just look around then... A decent-to-good selection of craft beer, but so does a ton of other places these days. I saw several out of code beers, as well as beer with dirty bottles, dirty labels, and even a few moldy labels. Not good. I'll give the place 2 stars because the selection is decent and it's in a convenient location, but from now on I'll just go to Whole Foods. read more

Lots of good beer to pick from, dont be scared to ask if your unsure of what to get, Staff is always chill.

Always great service! great selection of beer and the workers know what they are talking about when it comes to selecting a beverage that fits you read more

Lady answered the phone today with a pretty bad attitude. Almost as if she was upset that she didn't know what Stone brew was. She put the phone down and I had to listen to her slam the register and other objects next to it. She never even came back to the line after about 6 minutes just started having conversation with others. Lost a sale of a few kegs, if they even had that. Heard the selection was good and hope I can update this rating. read more

Based on all the reviews, I thought I'd pop by and give a look at their wine selection. I hoped that they carried something unusual rather than the "norm" but to no avail. They do have a nice craft beer selection but, I left empty handed as my warm and fuzzy feeling, quickly turned cold and prickly when the clerk looked "put out" when I inquired about a particular item. I prefer California Heights market for craft beer.... Bottom line? No going back! read more

They boast to have the largest beer selection in Long Beach. And although I have witnessed beer selections in other cities with longer length and larger girth, it is actually a nice selection available to me at an easy stroll away. read more

I came in today and the owner Danny says "i got something for you".... he found me a new beer. I enjoy a good flavored beer on occasion. He scored a Raspberry Ale from Marin Brewing Company. Danny is always lookin out for his customers. I highly reccomend this place to everyone who enjoys a great beer. They have a fantastic selection. read more

Awesome beer spot I just wish they were a little closer to me. They get all the hard to find beers and even some that most places don't even get period. If you aren't going in there for a specific beer your head would probably explode as you browse all the beers they have in stock. The employees are great and as previous reviewers have said they post what comes in on their Facebook page. read more

I never thought I would be yelping a liquour store, but here I am. My husband and I decided to come here on a whim while we were driving back home. This place has a very nice selection of beers which are also coded by type. I already know I enjoy pale lagers vs. India Pale Ale's so that was helpful. I will definitely be going back. I recommend the Monchshof Kellerbranu German beer! read more

Do you like beer? I like beer....a lot! And so does the guy who owns this place. He has over 12 coolers of beer and all sorts of good ones. This is a great place to go if you are new to beer and need help picking something because the owner seems very knowledgable and friendly. They also have a good selection of sour beers which makes me extra happy. read more

I'm a craft beer fan and Stearns Liquor Mart does not disappoint. Friendly staff and great selections. Not a mega-store which is nice. Danny the owner has always asked if I needed help and/or suggested a new "find". Great local mart! read more

Another store that price gouges customers. Selling "rare" items for 2X-10X the actual MSRP. No respect for the consumer.

Excellent selection fantastic store and more fantastic employees. Top shelf liquor selection wine and cigars. I decide on believable reviews on overall impression. read more

This place has an excellent craft beer selection!!! The fridge room has the best beer so recommend checking there first! The staff was very helpful and made great beer recommendations!! Definitely a great place to try new craft brews read more

Disappointed with the new store changes. Stearns liquor was our go to spot for great craft beers, and unique liquors. I've been in here a few times since Corked took over, but I don't think we'll be back anytime soon. Before the staff was super knowledgeable about all kinds of alcohol (one guy who used to work there didn't even drink, and he was super helpful) and could make recommendations, or offer suggestions if they didn't carry an item or were out of stock. We came in the other day for two pretty normal-ish beers; the associate apparently wasn't listening to me because they offered me something totally different. They were either out of, or didn't carry the other beer we were looking for. For a place that boasts to have the largest selection of refrigerated beers in the state, I'd presume you'd have what smaller mom and pop shops had as staples (and no we weren't looking for cheap mainstream beer.) With that being said, the service was subpar. It's really a shame, because the selection is so large. It's close to home, but we miss the service of the staff before the takeover. read more

They have a small selection of excellent beers. Downside is that unlike BevMo and many other larger craft beer shops you don't have many other options, can't buy cases, etc. For the best beer shop in the area go to Hollingshead's in Orange. read more

Went in to get some sake and vodka. The owner walked around his store with me suggesting stuff and helping me out for about 10 minutes (it takes me a long time to shop for alcohol). Stunning beer selection, big store, very clean. read more

I went to Stearns Liquor to get Long Beach Jerky. The sales clerk was extremely friendly and helpful. He knew the products very well and gave me great info. I was there another time buying and checking multiple lotto tickets and the clerk that day was also very kind and patient. They have a great selection of not just liquor but snacks as well. Try the candy bar at the register. It's a $6 candy bar but it's divine! read more

Not your average liquor store - it's full of an amazing selection of really good beers. The last time I was here I wasted 20 minutes with my buddy gawking at all the cool beers they stock. Definitely come here if you're looking for some brews that are from off the beaten path. read more

Stearns is pretty much my go-to shop for good beer. There are so many things to like about this place. The selection is about as big as you could ask for at a shop this sized, and a large amount is refrigerated--including everything that needs to be kept fresh. The owner, Danny, knows his beer and is always getting the latest and the greatest. For highly anticipated items he even posts updates to Facebook and will limit sales so one person can't buy it all, spreading the love. Great beer place, though there is also a decent selection of wine and spirits, most notably a ton of flavors of vodka. It also has mini mart type items. Prices are on par with normal, but the selection and service put Stearns on top. read more

HUGE craft beer selection and hard liquor galore. Have not seen anything like this in a long time as a neighborhood place. Awesome job.

Fine selection of beer, whiskey, liqueurs, mixers. Fair prices. Friendly staff.

For years and years this place was just another local liquor store, nothing too special. But the current management has transformed it into a craft beer nirvana! I'm a little round-heeled slut for pale ales and IPAs, and Stearns Liquor has loads of great ones to choose from, including harder-to-find stuff like Pliny the Elder, Kern River Brewing's Just Outstanding IPA, and all the great San Diego hop bombs. Their mix-and-match 6-packs are a great way to try new brews. Brilliant idea. I grew up in this neighborhood, so it's very satisfying to me to see Stearns Liquor become a premier destination bottle shop for craft beer enthusiasts. read more

This place has a decent selection of beer but definitely not better than Total Wine or Bevmo. Staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. My biggest beef with these guys is the pricing was a bit high and for some reason there were no price tags on the beer so it was kind of a surprise at the checkout. All in all not a bad place to get craft beer. I heard they also carry Pliny (however they were all out when I was there). read more

I must say I'm always happy to find Kylee working, I believe thats her name. Anyways I've come in a few times with her working and she's always been a doll, always helps ne find something new to try and she has been on point every time, also doesn't hurt she's completely adorable ;) oh and don't forget there selection of beer and booze very on point. read more

AMAZING BEER SELECTION!! Knowledgeable staff. Go there you won't regret it!

Nice selection and good prices. There is a lot to choose from especially beer!

I've been coming here for years. Unbelievable selection of beer, wine, and spirits. Luckily I never encountered the rude man bun everyone is speaking of. Actually just recently my fiancé and I went in and were browsing. I commented to her on how it had been ages since I'd had a Pliny. And how I missed it so. The employee working the store disappeared into the back, and came back out with an ice cold Pliny. He said he overheard our conversation and went back to check if they had any. Now that is customer service. He was incredibly polite, incredibly knowledgeable, and I enjoyed talking with him. I for the life of me cannot remember his name, but kudos to you sir! I've never had any issue with a single employee there to be honest. Every interaction has been similar to the one I shared, where I felt as if I could just talk whiskey and beer with the employees for hours if I so wished. Don't let this man bun scare you away, this place is incredible. read more

Beer connoisseurs rejoice! Great selection of Kegs... but the beer selection is through the roof! I love this place... its like beer heaven!

They appear to be trying to outdo themselves. Since they put in a walk-in beer cooler in the middle of the store, I can't believe there is a beer store in the world that has a greater selection of beer. read more

They get regular shipments of Pliny the Elder. 5 stars just for that. The owner (?) is a really fun and quirky guy who is really passionate and excited about his craft beers. I just walk in and ask for recommendations and walk out trying new things each time. It's a great place to work your way through craft beers (I'm an IPA/double IPA gal). They do put limits on all of the rare bottles they get in (which they seem to get in quite often). 1 bottle per person for Pliny - bummer! I'm so glad this place is right next to my vet and 1/2 a block from my car dealer. read more

Went into Stearns Liquor today, for the first time, on a very good recommendation from a friend. I was looking for Pliny the Elder. I was pleasantly surprise to find 2 left. I picked up both, one for me and one for my fiance (who was with me). At the register, I was told they have a "one per customer policy". To which I explained there are 2 of us (customers) and 2 beers. I was told, "It doesn't count. I saw you come in together." If a small business does need to sell product these days, that is their prerogative. However, these "games" lead to a bad customer experience and thus a bad online review. Sorry Sterns, I wanted to like you, but you didn't even give me a chance. read more

big selections of craft beers if thats your thing. they post all the good stuff on facebook but get down there fast or the good stuff gets swooped up quickly. its not super close to my house but if i'm heading up or down the 405 passing long beach i'll stop for sure since its close to the freeway read more

I've never seen a beer selection like this. The staff was beyond knowledgeable and helped me find everything I needed. I will be coming back here often!! read more

I am a very good customer and think their selection is good. I however have a problem with their service, especially the woman who has a bad attitude. I get nervous in this area that a good thing comes along, and they have success and then let their service slip. This is my first review I have ever written but I was so dismayed by their attitude (not Danny). I am glad they are here and hope they stay, but she needs to be a bit nicer. read more

Great selection but VERY bad service! Two of the clerks have extremely bad attitudes and no nothing about the beer they sell. They do NOT cares to put the correct price on their beer. I asked them why they have $25.00 beers in an $ 8.99 spot. The clerk said( he did not care). If you like paying to much for beer and don't care about service then this is the liquor store for you. read more
