The cabernet had a 91 rating from the Tasting Panel, but the malbec didn't have a rating, as it was a new item. Seeing how it's made with organic grapes, and malbecs are usually good bottles of wine, I chose the Organic Arbol De Vida Malbec Argentina 2024. Organic Arbol De Vida Malbec Argentina 2024- Lovely bottle of wine. Each sip had berries & plum, plus the pucker from expressive tannins. I'm not a wine connoisseur, but I found this particular malbec approachable and non-offensive. However, I'd choose a bottle of bourbon or sake, any day of the week. 1 cent for a bottle of wine? In regards to the accusations made and the comments that were posted on Yelp by Sarah K and Ana E, I think that Yelp should have screamed their reviews before posting them. As a business owner myself I think that Yelp needs to regulate what is put on their reviews. it's unfair that people can slander and TRASH a business when there's no proof. I am a neighbor of the liquor store The owner should not have had to take the blame from what happened with the clerk. I also was given the privilege of reviewing the surveillance tape along with other neighbors and all of us agreed that we were unable to verify the young lady's accusations. I think justice should be served and when investigated hopefully the appropriate thing will happen. read more

The fat short older man is a thief. He should not be running a business and should be put in jail. I went in to purchase a tall can and was told I was going to be charged an extra dollar since I'm using American Express. He swipes my card and tells me there is no money on it, I had just deposited my money. I had a few dollars left for a beer. I could not take the beer and left the store. I called American Express and they clearly told me I was charged for it. Fortunately, American Express is a good bank, unlike this distasteful business. I recommend no one ever coming here, unless you want to be robbed for your money. read more

I was overcharged today for a bottle and unfortunately I was in a rush and didn't realize it until I got home. I was originally told the bottle was $17, but I was charged $20. I wasn't given a receipt, and the cashier never rang the item up he just said "that will be $20 dollars" and didn't allow me to see the tax added because he never put it in the register. He simply took my money and pretty much scammed me. When I got home, I checked California sales tax and how much the bottle is online. I KNEW that was too high, I realized that $17 plus tax should not have come out to $20. I also later found the same size bottle online for around $11, so the prices at Around the Corner Liquor are very high or he just made up what he wanted to charge me. I don't drink often, so I don't normally keep up with alcohol prices, and I feel like I was taken advantage of especially because he could clearly see that I was in a hurry. If you shop at Around the Corner Liquor, make sure your items are actually rung up, that you can see the price of each item, and that you receive a receipt so you can verify exactly what you're being charged. Being told one price and then charged another without an explanation is bad business. Shame on you!
