    Garlic naan

I went here with a friend for dinner on a Monday evening. I will say, this is a place you go for the food and not the vibes or service. The food came out SO quickly which was amazing because I was incredibly hungry. It was very tasty and I would definitely get food here again. The vibes were just okay, nothing to rave about. It was very spacious on the inside with a front dining area, a bar area, and then another dining area towards the back. The service was fast and polite enough although it wasn't particularly friendly which is okay by me. If you can get me delicious food out that quickly, I'm really okay with basically any type of service!

All of the food I got from this place was very high quality, pretty decently priced, and had solid portions as well. Super fresh and tasty. I tried the chana masala (chickpea curry) and the peshwari naan. Their chana masala came in a good portion with lots of flavor/seasoning. Whole chunks of chickpeas, good quality. Sauce isn't too thick or thin. I do think that the meal was too spicy for my liking, even though I chose a 0 on the spice scale. Good rice portion too. I was super surprised by the naan. I've never tried peshwari before, so it was totally new to me, and I loved it! It's a sweet naan stuffed with some dried fruit, coconut, ground almonds, and a few other things. Almost like a dessert. And it's so good, crispy on the outside, soft inside, and very tasty/sweet. All in all, I quite liked this place. The chana masala meal was a bit too spicy, but the peshwari naan was incredible. Definitely recommend that!

Honestly been going here for years, the food is impeccable. Sure the decor is slightly non-existent and the football mural is a bit out of place (it was the prior establishment Rhoda's original), but that's what makes it real to me. There are so many dishes we have yet to try but some of our favorites are the Aloo Chana Chaat, Butter Chicken, Panak Peneer, Lamb Saag to name a few. The garlic naan, it is the best we have ever had. Anyone who says that the staff are mean are incorrect, the staff couldn't be more hospitable. If you're looking for fancy and trendy, keep going. If you are looking for amazing food, then you have found the best place.

Dinner here tonight was absolutely fantastic! We had no intention of coming here and chose to have dinner on a whim - which is something we almost never do. I am SO GLAD Coriander was where we ended up. This is absolutely the best Indian food I've had in Pittsburgh, and it tops most other cities as well. From the delicate and savory Aloo Naan to the best, slightly sweet, and wonderfully flavorful Chicken Biryani I've ever had, the entire dinner was perfect. We dined around 5 PM on a Thursday and were the only people in the restaurant for most of our dinner. The staff was friendly and service was prompt, but they also gave us space and time to enjoy our dinner. Our water cups were refilled 3-4 times. The only wish I have for next time is to be offered a drink menu and more napkins, but I am confident the staff would have procured those items if I had just asked. I cannot wait to eat my leftovers tomorrow!

Stopped in for the lunch buffet a few days ago, and it was not as good as I remembered it in the past. The food on the buffet was not very hot, it was just kind of luke-warm. They did have a nice selection of food on the steam table, but the cold bar was completely empty. In the past I thought they had some salad and a variety of chutneys, but there was none of that on the day we went. There are much better Indian buffets In Pittsburgh, so I am rating it just three stars, A-O.K.

Had take out from Coriander last week and it was wonderful. The Mataar Paneer had a different, sweeter twist to the cream sauce that was flavorful. Everything my friends ordered was great as well. Going back again soon. Ok update 2. Thinking about it sent me back right away. Fantastic flavor. Spectacularly satisfying meal. I ate enough for 2 it was so good.

**disclaimer: this review is only for the lunch buffet. OVERALL: mediocre Indian food. The only thing I genuinely enjoyed was the naan, which was crisp and buttery. The cauliflower was also decent. Besides that, the food and service was very lackluster. We also found a hair in our food. I came here at the recommendation of one of my friends, who said that the food here was pretty good. However, after we started eating, she regretted her choice and said that the quality of the buffet was definitely different than the regular menu. The buffet has a variety of options, but as mentioned previously, the only thing I enjoyed was the naan. The chicken curry I got was very dry and the meat was tough. The flavor was not great, and the chicken was just too stringy. I ended up ditching the chicken altogether and ate about 5 pieces of naan, which was pretty good if you dipped it in the curry. After being thoroughly disappointed with the chicken, I found a bit of redemption with the vegetables. The cauliflower and potato dish was good, but also nothing special. I would probably not come here again, unless I was really craving unlimited naan.

I ordered dinner tonight from Coriander Grill through Uber eats and found glass in my meal and cut my mouth.

this is a long overdue review for my favorite indian restaurant in the city (and possibly my…read morefavorite restaurant of all). i eat here almost every week, but keep forgetting to leave a rating. time to fix that :) bombay to burgh is an amazing restaurant. it's always delicious, with food that tastes fresh and perfectly balanced. as a fan of indian food, i love how the menu isn't stuck on the classic dishes that you find in every indian restaurant in the US. sure, you'll find butter chicken, tikka masala, palak paneer, naan, and biryani, and they are all very delicious! but there are also dishes like bagara eggplants (described by the menu as "spice stuffed baby eggplants in a roasted peanut, sesame, poppy seeds and coriander gravy, finished with tamarind and coconut") and chicken xacuti (described as "a classic, aromatic chicken curry from the coastal region of Goa, India, known for its complex blend of freshly roasted spices, toasted coconut, and tamarind for a tangy balance"). i ordered both of these tonight and can vouch that they are extremely tasty and worthy of your attention. personally, my only struggle here is that literally every item on the menu looks delicious, and i hate having to choose! which brings me to my favorite part of this restaurant: sunday buffet. now, the food is wonderful every day of the week. i just ordered some tonight myself, so i definitely recommend it. that said, my absolute favorite time to come is for the buffet on sunday. i think buffets get a bad reputation for being all about quantity over quality and for having an unpleasant atmosphere (the passive aggressive "don't waste food" signs that most have don't help, either). sadly, these complaints are true of most buffets. bombay to burgh is a wonderful contrast and, in my opinion, does buffets the way they ought to be. the atmosphere is pleasant (no signs!) and you're likely to see many regular customers. there's a good chance you'll even be greeted by the very owner, G, and get to speak with him a bit! the staff is all very friendly and helpful, always doing their best to make sure you enjoy your visit. they are always happy to help if food needs to be refilled at the buffet or if you want to order anything. finally, and most importantly of all, the food is amazing! unlike most buffets, bombay to burgh only puts out a limited number of offerings: 2 appetizers, 2 meat entrees, 2 vegetarian entrees, 1 bread, 1 rice, 1 dessert, and 1 beverage. i think this is the perfect number to ensure there's both variety and quality. plus, you can actually try a little bit of everything, which usually isn't possible at giant buffets. my favorite part is that every week brings new food, which is now usually themed around a certain region of india. you know they'll always have reliable butter chicken and garlic naan to make you happy, but the rest of the buffet might be dishes you've never eaten before. it's a perfect way to explore different flavors and new food, without worrying you'll waste your money. eating out is a bit pricey anywhere these days, but i personally think that the buffet is still very affordable. have you seen the price of appetizers recently? just the fact that you can choose from two of those with your meal makes it a good deal to me! i feel very fortunate that i get the chance to eat here regularly. while i've loved indian food for over 20 years at this point, bombay to burgh has taken my appreciation to a whole new level and has me researching more food to cook myself. it's a wonderful place to eat!

I had really hoped to see methi matar malai on the menu, but they didn't have it. What they did prepare for us was excellent. The naan was especially good. While not as large as other restaurants naan, it had a great puffy texture and a lovely flavor. Biryani looked good on its transit to a nearby table. Next time we're back we'll definitely order it. Sundays are a good day to visit, as they serve it buffet-style.

I wouldn't say anything in particular was the best ever, but everything was really good, which in itself is just awesome. The paneer tikka was good. Nice a flavorful. The paneer lababdar was really good. Asparagus kofta was probably the even better, and then the dal makhani was also good. We ordered naan in a couple of batches and enjoyed it most when they brought it out really fresh out of the tandoor. The bullet naan was really good. Garlic naan was good too. The space is very open and a little rough around the edges, but the food is good. One word of note is that we ordered takeout through the web site, and there were no options on the site to pick a specific level of spiciness. The restaurant defaulted everything to mild, and that was fine: everything just could have used a little more flavor intensity. I'll probably just call the restaurant for future orders to head off the spiciness level question. In terms of the specifics, the padpadi chaat was nicely textured and flavored. The veggie curry and aloo gobi were good but wanting for some depth of flavor. The chole (chickpeas and caramelized onions) was extremely good, with lots of flavor. The bread basket was essentially just a stack of naan, not any type of variety. The accompanying rice was nicely prepared with a touch of whole cumin seed to add some character. All told, this was a nice destination with some good food and a nice array of vegetarian options. It was excellent for what it is, and I'm looking forward to seeing how the establishment evolves over time.
