Randy took our order and delivered some of the best customer service I've experienced in a very long time!!!He was genuinely friendly, patient, helpful, and welcoming from start to finish. I was struggling a little with the self-service kiosk, and before I even had to ask, Randy noticed and immediately jumped in to help. That kind of attentiveness is rare and honestly made the whole experience better. Food-wise, everything was fresh,colorful, flavorful, and customizable. The butter chicken was rich and comforting with just the right amount of spice. The lamb and paneer salad loaded with toppings was filling and packed with flavor and texture. The naan with dipping extra sauce on the side was perfect for sharing, the mango lassi was smooth, easy to drink (I have had some that was too too thick) and refreshing. the samosa chaat brought a great mix of crunch, spice, and sweetness. Really impressed. My only disappointment is that I waited so long to try it. Great food is one thing, but great food with outstanding service is what makes people come back!! read more

My kids loved it here and already want to go back. The hand washing station was pretty cool. I loved that there were kids meals so we could all enjoy. I had the samosa chaat and the mini samosas didnt taste super fresh but we still loved it. Also Im a millennial so the serve yourself thing was a bit new for me but once we realized we needed to grab our own ice cream we caught on. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by the food here. For being a more fast food place, it was actually quite good . My only complaint is that the menu is a bit weird and it's difficult to get everything that you want in a bowl. For example, I wanted to get paneer, the masala sauce and the roasted veggies, and an employee told me that that wasn't possible because none of the bowls offered that combination. Overall, it was still pretty good and the restaurant had a really nice vibe with nice music playing. read more

We stopped by on Monday night around 7pm and it was pretty empty so we were able to order at the kiosk right away and our food came out quickly! I liked how customizable everything is and how affordable it is. My spicy chicken and sauces were actually spicy which I liked! The inside is huge with plenty of seating on the ground floor and second floor. There's also a small patio as well. We sat on the first floor and it was very very cold (it was freezing out so maybe their insulation isn't the greatest) so wear a sweater. read more

First time around I thought: this is ok, not stellar at all but fine. Second trip was my last. The food was absolutely awful. Not worth what I paid for it. Ambiance was uncomfortable (check out their signage....) Wish I had read through the one-star reviews on Yelp before wasting my money on food from this place. I loved Choolaah! The food is so flavorful, fresh, and delicious. They have lots of healthy options, vegetarian options, and vegan selections. Everything we tried was tasty! The Chicken perfect balance bowl, the Naan, and the Samosas were my favorite. We did takeout so I can't speak for the ambiance, as I did not go to pick up the food- but my fiance said it's nice. Choolah is bringing traditional Indian dishes, flavors, and methods to modern day! Custom built tandoori ovens in a fast casual setting? I mean it's absolutely brilliant. Tikka masala, samosa, paneer, lamb meatballs, and even mango lassi. Bowls, salads, wraps, and snacks...the selection is plentiful. The condiments and dipping sauces only add to bright flavors. Have I had better Indian food? Sure. But I absolutely appreciate what Choolah has done here. The staff is super helpful, and the space is bright and modern, borderline futuristic! Visit was on 1/22/2026 at 12:50PM. Manager (who was clearly there because it was busy) was the only one in kitchen not wearing gloves, unlike all the other employees. About 5'8" or so white male with blonde/red-ish hair and beard wearing a "Ouch" branded Choolah sweater. He is in the kitchen touching things with bare hands. He picks something off the floor, then immediately touches bags and food areas without washing hands. Unsanitary. read more

Great place for catering! I've ordered from here a few times now for my office lunch and have always had a smooth experience. Their online ordering system is super easy & convenient. They coordinate delivery with third-parties like door dash, but it always arrives on time (usually early). One time I even put in the wrong date for my order and the manager helped me correct my mistake at 9am on a Sunday morning (thanks for answering the phone!). Most importantly, folks in my office have always liked the food. The veggie croquettes were a huge hit - semi-fried lentil/pea patties with a nice crisp. Both the paneer and roasted veggie medley (zucchini, cauliflower, sweet potatoes) have great flavor but no sauce. The chana masala and black lentil dal, on the other hand, are of course saucy dishes (also very flavorful) and provide a nice balance to the dry dishes. Rice portions are huge (as are all the other portions) and orders of naan bread come individually wrapped in foil to stay warm. We'll definitely be coming back to Choolaah for more office lunches! read more

Had a craving and wanted to try this place. Not bad. Decided on the family style meal instead of bowls and picked up chicken, rice, vegetables and naan. The Tikka sauce was good. Chicken was extremely tender with a great grill taste. Naan was good. Vegetables were a mix of sweet potatoes, zucchini and cauliflower. Loved the decor and especially the hand wash station. I went to Choolah on a weekly basis for a couple of years, but I feel like the food is not quite as good as it used to be. For one, I have now had multiple Perfect Balance bowls where all the sweet potato pieces in them were undercooked. This has happened on three occasions. One time I spoke with a manager about it and he explained they had a new supplier for sweet potatoes and were still trying to figure out the correct cooking time for the new supply. Also today I noticed that the new menu on the app no longer specifies which items are gluten free. This will be a problem for me since I'm gluten intolerant. I ordered my usual meal, a Perfect Balance bowl with paneer, but once again, all of the sweet potato chunks in it were uncooked and also there was a piece of chicken in with the pieces of paneer. I hope they can do a reset and bring their cooking and the menu on the app back up to the level where they used to be before. This used to be one of my favorite lunch places and the staff are always friendly. read more

Choolaah is a great place to get fast casual Indian food that's made to order. I tried out the perfect balance bowl, which starts with roasted veggies with either rice or greens and protein on top. I got the greens with tofu and tikka masala and a side of wheat naan. I was really impressed with how flavorful and filling everything was while being nutritious as well! The food was on time and came as-ordered, including the spicy sauce on the side (which was definitely spicy!). This place is a small chain that has shops in a few states. There are two spots in Pittsburgh. They are fast casual, a bit like Chipotle, but serve Indian food. I tried a bunch of their items, including the Choolah bowl (with grilled chicken, chickpea masala/curry, super greens, and brown rice), the Choolah ranch, minty yogurt sauce, samosas, and chicken wrap without onions. I'll start with the main meal: the Choolah bowl, their signature item. The portion was pretty okay for the price, not big but not small either. The chicken was nicely spiced and had a decently good texture. The greens were fresh and crisp. Rice was okay but could have been spiced or something, not much flavor unless you mix it with the curry. The chickpea curry, or chana masala, was quite good. I would say it was on the somewhat watery side and not too flavorful, but I still liked it. A tad bit of spice, nice portion, and good amount of chickpeas. The two sauces were quite good as well. The ranch was creamy but not excessively so, and had an overall fantastic flavor, despite the container being pretty small. The yogurt sauce container was larger, but I wasn't that big of a fan. It didn't really have any creaminess or yogurt in it; just mint mostly. The samosas were tasty! Typically, they give you 3 with each order, but I got an extra thrown in there, which was pretty awesome. They are stuffed with mostly potato (a bit of peas too). It is crunchy on the outside, with that perfect crisp. Not spicy in my opinion. The wrap was once again pretty solid. Although, I would say the bowl is a much better deal and tastes better as well. Still, the naan bread was good, fluffy, and soaked up the chicken spices well. The chicken was kind of fattier in the wrap. Not really any sauce. It was just okay. All in all, I liked this place. The food isn't as authentic and flavorful as you would typically get at a smaller local spot, but it's still quite good. Okay prices, decent portions, and most of the classics. Tons of healthy options, too. read more

Hello fellow Yelpers! Choolah is where we go for the "fast food" type of Indian food. Are there more authentic experiences in pittsburgh for cheaper prices? Sure! If you want a more local feel there are definitely a few places that we could recommend, but if you are looking for standard Indian fare in a clean and standard environment we highly recommend choolah! Plus their service is always impeccable and quick. The online ordering system and member ship with the app is great. The food is delicious and we highly recommend their hot sauce! We are obsessed with the OMG spicy sauce and even bought a bottle. The nice thing is that the food is also not super oily and greasy like some other Indian food can get at times so it FEELS healthy (whether it is actually can't confirm but I'm sure they have calories if you ask they definitely feel organized enough to have that!) We never did the catering, but it would seem like they would be great at it give. Their track record, plus they make the nan fresh in the giant tandoori ovens they have! Parking is great and is near a lot with free parking for the first hour! So check it out, we'd say the only con is it is slightly pricy for the quantity you get, but the food is enough to be filling. I ordered pickup. The food was good, however, I ordered while 20 minutes away, the app said it would be ready in 15. It took me 10 minutes to find a parking spot. Another few minutes to walk. I had to wait another 10 minutes for my pick up order that should have been ready at least 15 minutes before I arrived, which is fine that I didn't get cold food, but given it wasn't crowded, nor was there a backup of pickup orders on the shelf the wait was bit much. read more

I haven't had a lot of Indian food so I think this is a very accessible option for people looking to try Indian food. I do think the food was a bit Americanized but it is Indian fast food so I don't know how authentic you can really be. I also wish the portions were a little larger for how much you get - for similar price I could get a lot more from an actual Indian restaurant. Oh my! This is my fav lunch spot while working nearby. Everything I have ordered has always been delicious and hearty. I especially like the paneer cheese and naan. I've had Indian cuisine from Tokyo to Trenton, Dallas to Dublin and just about everywhere in between! Never have I seen, much less been to a fast casual Indian place like Choolaah's--and I absolutely love it! The concept is a fantastic idea and makes Indian a viable quick-bite option for all. The prices are reasonable, the portions large, and the flavors well-developed. My wife and I shared a Chicken Masala meal as neither one of us was starving, and it was perfect. Not too heavy and the garlic naan we got with it was big enough to share as well. The hand washing station was a big hit and we liked being able to look into the prep kitchen as well as admire the 30+ ft tower of Indian books in one of the other corners.
