Our 4 go tos are- Butter chicken-- great dish only thing is I'm assuming they use food color as there's always a red stain on my fingers after eating & washing-- this part is a bit aggravating. But You know we use our fingers to eat. Def recommended tho.... Andhra chicken Dry- we order spicy 6-7 excellentttttt!!!!!! Very spicy at it is back home in south India for us. A true testament of Andhra/tamizh cuisine. Mostly dry with a lot of cooked onions on top ((yum))for homemade chapatis, parothas etc. Def recommended.. Malai Kofta-- thick creamy w a hint of sweetness, only 3 koftas tho sadly bcz it's soooo good. Something once in a while. Def recommended. Saag/palak paneer-- soooo good! The food was great, but, a warning to any nut allergy folks! We asked if they used any nuts in the chicken curry and explained my daughter's allergy, and they said "no". Well, either something else in the food acts like a "nut" or they just don't actually know what's in their ingredients. Good thing UPMC East is just up the road, as I had to rush my daughter to the ER. I can't blame the restaurant fully, as I should have done a little more in-depth research on Indian cuisine, and there was definitely a communication problem! I'm not a negative person, so now that I've said the above warning, I will say the food was delicious. I asked for a spicier version of chicken curry, you know, where your lips burn, but in a good way, and you just cant wait for the next bite! Mintt is my favorite place to get food from. Everything is always delicious. I go about 3 times a week and the food is always consistant!! The customer service is always fantastic. Mamon is always so helpful and kind, he also makes great recommendation for me to try new things. He also threw in a mango lassi at my most recent visit for me to try. Big fan of Mintt. The rosemary naan bread was unpectedly crispy, soft, savory all at once, with the "ahhh" earthy, woody minty flavor of the rosemary. Just so amazing. Piling rice and the gongura vegetables made it even more amazing (the rice was cooked just right - it wasn't hard or sticky). The gongura vegetables came correct with the spice. Just hot enough, and that little bowl will fill you up in no time (vegetables included carrots, green beans, potatoes). The gongura had a slight sour flavor, which was balanced with the rest of the spices in the dish. The man who brought the food was very nice (I think he was the owner?). And of course, ambience wise, an Indian restaurant so music of India in the background, decor was neat and not too frilly. And affordable. Wonderful place and will certainly come back. read more

We ordered takeout last night and enjoyed it. First thought -- we really enjoyed the variety on the menu -- northern, southern Indian and beyond. I was a little worried to see Chinese items -- it always seems like that's when a restaurant isnt authentic or is stretching it too far and not doing anything well. I'm happy to report - that's not the case w/ Mintt, at least with the Indian we ordered! Our fave: Kashmiri Murgh Masala - chicken steeped in a yummy, creamy, coconutty sauce dotted with fruit (we tasted raisins & pineapple - YUM!) - all gently spiced. The go-to Butter Chicken was pretty good - not the best we've had but flavorful. The samosa chaat was our least favorite, but it was pretty good. It just seemed like they took a couple samosas and chopped them into a few pieces --- rather than having more of the spiced potato/pea mixture dotted with some of the crispy samosa shells. Garlic naan was good, as was the raita. We'll order from them again, for sure. TIP -- I understand the Monroeville loc (where we got our Uber order) is the best loc for this co. read more

My husband and I ate dinner here one time. We waited several minutes for an employee to seat us at a table. Then we waited several minutes for an employee to take our order. The employees spoke nicely to us. They brought out our foods after reasonable wait times. Here are my ratings for our foods: Samosa - 4.5 stars - This appetizer consisted of two samosas that were filled with potatoes, and they tasted moderately spicy. On the side were chickpeas. Navaratan kurma - 4.5 stars - This entree contained many vegetables, including a surprising amount of large carrots. I had requested a spiciness level of medium, and I thought that it tasted medium. Butter chicken - 3.5 stars - My husband said that the spiciness level was to his liking, but he described the entree overall as "OK." I thought that it tasted good. Rice on the side was cooked perfectly. Naan - 4.5 stars - I ordered plain naan, and my husband ordered garlic naan. We enjoyed their flavors. Take out yesterday took a hour and 20 minutes. 45 minutes more than the order website said it would be. I finally received a text with the right time of wait about 45 minutes after ordering. Restaurant claims it uber and DoorDash orders all hit at the same time. I will call first the next time. The food is very good but check first on wait times as the app gives an automatic 30 minutes. This was a weird experience. The restaurant has a really big variety of food ranging from North Indian, South Indian and Hakka. We were a group of 3 families. The people who had the Hakka food liked it. The people who had the South Indian said it was good. The North Indian food was down right aweful. Ordered dal makhani and methi mattar malai. The dal was full of beans and peas and almost none of the dal it is supposed to contain. Ordered medium spicy and seasoning was barely noticeable. The methi mattar malai was equally strange but tasted a little better. It was like a think palak with peas and some shredded paneer. No taste of methi and very little seasoning. A new favorite for sure! Prices are phenomenal. Food was bursting with flavor. The veggie samosas were so good, I'd eat a meal of just those lol. I ordered Tandoori Chicken and it came out on a sizzling iron skillet. The chicken was so moist and delicious, paired with fragrant jasmine rice. Service was quick and efficient. We were staying in Monroeville for a concert a couple months ago and ate here and I loved it so much that we drove back 2.5 hours to eat again for my Mother's Day gift this past month! Mintt is an excellent spot around Monroeville if you want to try Indian food! The spice level can be changed based on your preference, and there's a mix of North and South Indian dishes! Some of my favorites are the masala dosa (yes, it's nearly double the size of my face!), chicken tikka masala, and Mintt special biryani. A few other dishes I suggest, if it's your first time trying Indian food, are the mintt paneer biryani, butter chicken, rotis/naan, or Channa masala. Now, if you were raised on South Indian food like myself, there are a lot of varieties worth trying out too, like the chicken Chettinad. The food here is so so good! They first bring out this cracker like bread with two dips- one green one that is spicier and one reddish one that is sweeter. We got the samosa appetizer which has perfectly seasoned potato, perfectly crisped outside and comes with seasoned chickpeas, onions and cilantro. I got the chicken tikka masala, which comes with rice and a creamy red sauce. I got it with the garlic naan which is so nice for dipping in the sauce. My hubby and our friend both got the Special Chicken Biryani. It is pretty spicy so it's nice that it comes with a side of yogurt sauce to cool it off. They also gave us two complimentary desserts, which was so nice! Gulab jamun- fried dough balls in sweet syrupy sauce with slivered almonds. And a delicious cardamom flavored ice cream. Make sure if you want to get the buffet to come during lunch hours! It's only available during lunch. Definitely would recommend all the dishes we ordered, and definitely would return! read more

I went to the restaurant for lunch today and I ordered the Chicken Biryani and it was incredibly delicious. I paired it with the garlic naan. I've been to this restaurant three times within the last two weeks and keep ordering the same meal. Maybe one day I will try something else, but it won't be today. We gave it a try based on high ratings, and I don't want to say negative things about local restaurants as there are anyway so few options from around the world here, but the food was really bad. 1- Our order of grill was tough as cardboard and I am not exaggerating. They took the order back to replace it because even the manager could see it was inedible. The replacement naturally didn't arrive because it takes time to make fresh grill and by then we had finished. I asked in the middle if they could cancel, they didn't. We tried the replacement at home, half items were fresh but half were clearly from the original order we had sent back. If you do go there my sincere advice is to not order anything from grill. 2- Butter chicken was one of the worst I have in Pittsburgh but at least it was barely edible. In my experience with other restaurants, I almost almost always had bad experiences when I go to a restaurant just before they close but this time it was pleasantly different. We got some very fresh and delicious food. I and my family tried their mintt special chicken biryani, malai kofta, garlic naans, and chicken 65. I would give all these dishes 5/5. They were very flavorful, hot, fresh, and amazing! The naans were like it was made in India, unlike most other Indian restaurants in the US and so were the other dishes. We also ordered the gongura chicken curry, however, it was insanely spicy. So spicy that we couldn't handle it. And we eat a lot of spice. They did make it up by giving us one complimentary mango lassi but it was still way too spicy. Nevertheless, this dish was packed with flavors too! read more

We visited this restaurant when we were going through Monroville and decided to have lunch here. We ordered Amritsari fish appetizer which was Average and Mintt special panner biryani which was excellent. One of the good panner biryanis I ever had. I would definitely recommend this dish for all the vegetarians. I have given one star less for the 40 minute wait for two dishes order and the old tables,chairs and decor. The Indo Chinese offerings seemed to be most flavorful. Portions were a bit small given the prices. Strip mall restaurant, so atmosphere is a bit sterile. Bathrooms were very clean. A buffet bar was sitting empty and we were told that it was a holdover from previous restaurant. Tampa, Florida has excellent Indian restaurants and large buffet offerings and amazing food so this one pales in comparison. I have eaten at the Indian restaurant in Aspinwall but think Mintt is better. There is also a good Indian restaurant in the shopping center across from Ikea and all the patrons are from India. Food was also good but Tampa, Florida seems to have the best Indian food. New Jersey across the river from NYC and NYC itself has excellent Indian restaurants. read more

I love the food here; the staff is attentive and doesn't "hover." However, it bothers me a LOT that they serve water in disposable plastic bottles; they must dump thousands of bottles every month because it's a popular place. In addition to environmental damage, plastic bottles on the table do not elevate the dining experience. read more

Let me begin by saying that the service at this place was super slow, probably because there were only two waiters multitasking with seating guests, serving and cleaning. The resto was fairly empty when we (a party of 2) walked in around 2pm on a weekend. The menu had both South and North Indian dishes along with Indo Chinese options. We ordered butter dosa and idly and medhu vada combo. The butter dosa was delicious! And so was the vada. While the sambar was good, the coconut chutney portion was somewhat small. Idlys' taste was passable. The prices were slightly higher than what you would find in a South Indian restaurant. I would dine here again if in the vicinity. read more

I don't claim to be an expert when it comes to Indian food, but I can tell when a dish is properly prepared, when service is up to par, and when a restaurant is being properly maintained. On these three measures, I'd give Mintt a "B" for its food and no more than C-minuses for its service and its maintenance. I walked in just as it opened at 5 p.m. and was seated immediately... right behind a big oscillating fan that was obviously running to try to cool the room. It was stuffy because, I presume, the restaurant does not have air conditioning. The fan was annoying, but understandable being August. A runner (not my server) brought me water and complimentary crispy flat bread with two dipping sauces for me to nibble as I perused the menu and made my choices. I decided on Chicken Vindaloo - which the menu described as "boneless chicken cooked with potatoes, hot sauce and spices" - and came with jasmine rice. I also asked for an order of garlic naan. 5:30 came and went with no sign of my dinner, though several take-out orders made it to people standing near the entrance. The runner who brought my first nibbles kept my water glass full, but there was no server to be found. About 10 minutes later, my server came out with my meal. At my first taste of the vindaloo, I thought I should have ordered it hotter than "medium." But then it crept up on me. Almost perfect - just below the point where my eyes would water and my nose run (sorry but if you love hot food, you know that happens!). Ladling it over the rice mellowed it out a bit, but it still had good kick to it. The chicken thighs were indeed boneless and nicely done, as were the few smallish hunks of potato. But the naan was a major disappointment. Naan is supposed to be served hot; in fact, the menu lists it under "Hot breads." Mine was cold, as though it had been sitting around for a long time before it was brought out to me. I pointed that out to my server and asked that they make me a fresh order. She came back with my basket far too quickly, I thought. That was confirmed when I grabbed it and almost burned my hand on the metallic rim. They had NOT made a fresh batch; they'd simply put my old naan into the microwave to heat it up, but microwaving also makes bread products tough. So now it was hot, but its fluffy tenderness had been completely obliterated. Topping it off, the wall next to my table was badly scuffed. I know that happens and is especially noticeable when the wall is a dark color but if a restaurant is going to choose such a color, it MUST stay on top of things like scuffing, or the whole place will seem run-down. As Mintt did. Finally, the mixture of fennel seeds and spices called mukhwas, or mouth freshener, traditionally taken at the end of the meal (from a bowl on the way out) tasted as though it had turned rancid. Not the way I preferred to conclude my meal. So, while the main course was fine, it wasn't enough to make me want to go back, or recommend that you try it out. We love Mintt! My boyfriend works at the nearby hospital and we like to treat ourselves to takeout on occasion. It was recommended to us by a friend, and so far we've never been disappointed. I'd like to start by saying how friendly and pleasant the service always is. Once I was stuck in traffic and ran past their lunchtime hours. I called to let them know, and nearly ten minutes after they closed someone kindly ran my order out for me. Another time we were missing a chapati, so they threw in a free lassi when I came back for it. All in all coming in to get food from Mintt is always a pleasure. The food itself is consistently delicious and always comes out fresh and hot. The chicken biryani and vindaloo are our favorites. (I seriously could eat that vindaloo once a week and never get tired of it.) The apps and breads like samosas and chapati are solid choices as well, and I know we'll be trying more of their extensive menu in the future. I was craving chicken tikka masala and haven't had any in Pittsburgh since moving back from Arizona. I had some favorite spots in Arizona to get Indian food and was worried I wouldn't find a place in Pittsburgh that was even close to their quality. Boy, was I wrong. This food was SO amazing!!!
