Just checking out this new BBQ spot. First thing to know is that GPS led me to the street side of…read morethe restaurant, but the entryway is on the opposite side towards the corner of the small strip mall! Please put a sign in the window on the closed side. When you pull up to the entrance, you'll smell the smoke from the grill in the air! There's also a huge grill out front that you simply can't miss! I was quickly greeted upon entry. I ordered 2 rib plates with potato salad and a pint of hash, smoked wings weren't available this particular day. Since I've gone back during lunchtime, specifically to try these smoked wings. Unfortunately, they were closed both times. I should have checked their hours prior. Located their hours on their FB page. They're open 11-5 Wednesday-Saturday. Onto the food...The ribs and potato salad were ok or unremarkable to me. I guess I'm a little picky, but I didn't see a smoke ring nor taste the smoke at all. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, I did go a little late. Maybe the ribs were warming awhile. Not sure, but I'll give it a try earlier next time along with the smoked wings and update my review as necessary. My husband and I both really loved the hash and rice!!! Also FYI no military or first responder discounts available.

This place is amazing! Best bbq in Augusta hands down. This is a local family owned business and…read moreeveryone was so friendly here. I came at around 3pm but it's advisable to come earlier when they open at 11:30am cause the food sells out fast! They have ribs, chicken, turkey wings, pork chop, and so much more. I got the smokehouse chicken with hash and rice with mac and cheese. The chicken is smoked to perfection and you get good flavor all the way through the whole piece of chicken. It's really tender too and tastes even better with the bbq sauce. The chicken has the best smokey flavor that I've never had anywhere else before. The hash and rice is also really good with lots of flavor and not too salty at all. The Mac and cheese is great too. I don't know what they put in it but it's delicious. The mango lemonade is perfect to wash everything down with (just a little too sweet for my preference). I definitely want to come back again to try their ribs and pork but I need to remind myself to come earlier so everything won't be sold out by the time I get there. I wish i knew about this place earlier because they seriously have good legit bbq. Also wish they had a sign in the front of the restaurant so it's easier to find. But hey if you know you know.

Don't get me wrong the beef Beef Brisket was excellent. But it was a little tough. The chicken sandwich was very excellent.Especially the sauce that goes on it. The next time I like to come here.I'm gonna bring my boyfriend here with me too. That way, he can enjoy some excellent barbecue.Keep up the excellent work.

I selected the Brisket Platter (Marbled)…read more If you're heading to Jim 'N Nick's, you certainly won't leave hungry--the portions are generous, to say the least. However, when it comes to the main event, the experience can be a bit of a mixed bag. The marbled brisket, while promising in cut, fell short on execution. Served noticeably lacking in heat, the meat suffered in texture, resulting in several sections that were tough and required far more chewing than proper low-and-slow barbecue ever should. Fortunately, the sides completely saved the plate. The potato salad was well-balanced and creamy, and the baked beans packed rich, hearty flavor. To cap it off, the signature cornbread muffins--served as two bite-sized, sweet delights--were absolute perfection and easily the highlight of the meal. While the brisket needs better temperature control and tenderness to justify a return for the smoked meats, Jim 'N Nick's still delivers if you're there for top-tier sides and legendary cornbread.

The food was good--the chicken was cooked very well and seasoned nicely, and the mac and cheese was a standout. My husband enjoyed every minute of his meal. It wasn't exactly what I expected at first, but it actually grew on me the more I ate. Unfortunately, I won't be returning due to the customer service. I have Jamaican friends, so I understand that communication styles can differ--but kindness and courtesy are universal. When I asked for extra jerk sauce, the woman at the counter responded in a way that felt condescending, saying I should know jerk chicken is grilled and doesn't come with sauce. She did offer to put gravy on the rice, which I appreciated, but the delivery of her response could have been more courteous. I simply clarified that many places I've been to (in Augusta) do serve it with a sauce. That could have been a moment to politely explain their style instead of making me feel dismissed. Another customer was speaking highly of the gravy on the brown stew chicken, so I asked if I could purchase a side of it. I was told no. I even offered to pay extra, and again was told no--without any effort to accommodate or offer another option. There were no pleasantries, no warmth, and no sense that my business mattered. That lack of customer care completely took away from the experience.

The menu has something for everyone--whether you're looking for a quick lunch or enough food to feed the whole family. We ordered the wings, mac and cheese, and pork and beans, and everything was outstanding. I absolutely love wings, and YSD did not disappoint! They cooked them well done just like I asked, and the mild lemon pepper seasoning was absolutely on point. The mac and cheese tasted just like the homemade, old-school mac and cheese Mom used to make, and the pork and beans were packed with flavor. Every bite was delicious. I highly recommend YSD Soul Grill and will definitely be back. Kudos to the owners for creating a place that delivers great food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere.
