Dr. G is the best in his field. My jaw has been a problem for years, despite wearing a night guard. I came to him in so much pain. Over the course of a year, we did splint therapy to reposition my jaw. He helped me so much that now 3 of my family members also are doing splint therapy with him. In short, do not go here. These people are crooks and gaslight you. I am a cast member in Wicked on Broadway. Myself and two other cast members decided to come here after this office was recommended by another coworker. ALL THREE OF US had problems with this office after our second visit. I called this office before I booked my first appointment because they were out of network and in their paperwork they say there is a $250 fee on the first visit. I was not about to pay $250 to see a dentist for any reason, so I called MULTIPLE times to make sure I had a crystal clear idea of what was going on. When I called I spoke with two different women who assured me that I would not have to pay anything and that insurance would cover a cleaning, x rays, and this $250 fee. In my cleaning, the dental hygienist told me I had 5 cavities (my coworkers also had 5 and 6 cavities... later on one of them was told she actually had 8). I have never had 5 cavities in my life, but now all 3 of us have 5-6 in one visit? I trusted the dental hygienist and Dr. G and decided to proceed with getting 3 cavities filled at the end of December. AGAIN, I spoke THOROUGHLY with the front desk to make sure this would all be covered by insurance. The woman working pulled up my chart and explained to me that it would be and that they would break it up into two sessions -- 3 to be filled at the end of December and 2 in the first week of January. This was because after having the 3 cavities filled in December, I would reach my maximum dental benefits to be covered by insurance. I had 3 cavities filled, although I truly only think the doctor filled 2 of them. Only 2 of my teeth look like they had work done and only 2 ached after the visit. My coworker had the same experience -- he was supposed to have 3 cavities filled and suspected only 2 were. The day before I was supposed to get the remaining two filled, I got a call from the office about my appointment THE NEXT DAY. They told me I would have a $540 copay to have these filled. When I asked why I didn't have that copay in December they told me that the doctor decided to waive the $540 copay. Now-- when I asked about how much this was back in December, wouldn't an honest office tell you how much it was and that the doctor was going to waive the fee? They did not. They are EXTREMELY deceitful and my two coworkers experienced the same deceit with them. After hearing about my experience, my coworker, who was supposed to have 3 cavities filled two days after me, asked the office multiple times how much it would be. They didn't get back to her so she canceled her appointment. A week later they told her that she had 8 TEETH that needed work and that it was going to be $2,500 I called another office to have my remaining cavities filled. They were also out of network and told me it would be give or take $70 to have two teeth filled. There is a reason this office is high end and offers eye patches and every luxury you can think of. These doctors have to pay for this SOMEHOW and they are absolute crooks. Also, as I was waiting to go in to have my cavities filled in December, I witnessed a conversion between a patient and the front desk. The patient was arguing with the woman there about the exact same thing- the patient was told the work would be covered by insurance and the women at the front desk were gaslighting the patient. DO NOT GO HERE. Unless you just gave cash you want to burn. But even then, this office is dishonest and not to be trusted. read more

Dr. C unsuccessfully treated my root canal not once but twice. I was in so much throbbing pain. Costs were doubled due to me having to see a specialist. I kept asking him and his team what the problem was and they all said "I don't know" with a puzzled look. Well, they all know how to butcher my mouth, bill me and run my card with exorbitant costs, but don't know what went wrong. If u need a root canal, go to an endodontist. Dentists do not have the added expertise, nor the technology and resources to treat them. Period. read more

Best dentist I've ever worked with; likely one of the best in the region. The kind of dentist I'd keep going to even if I moved out of the country. Excellent dental work; compassionate care; responsive, friendly, & professional staff; considerate & innovative strategies for problem solving; honest & helpful re: financing; always assuage my anxieties about pain. TMJ sufferers, this is your guy, he's head of NYU's doctoral program for occlusion (jaw alignment). Do yourself a favor & make an appointment; you don't have to live in pain. I wish I'd found him sooner. I was debilitated by TMJ pain before I came to Core Smiles. Dr. G & his techs literally built me new teeth from tiny stubs (lifelong tooth grinder, ground 'em down to 50% of their surface area). Before that, he helped me alleviate my intense pain from TMJ by creating & meticulously reshaping an orthotic device for me to wear at night (& during the day at first, which I didn't mind cuz that orthotic felt amaaaazing). They also replaced a lot of the shoddy work from my previous dentist. One thing I really love about this practice is the lengths they go to explain what could be going on in your mouth, & how thorough they are about figuring out *exactly* what the problem might be. While other healthcare practitioners sometimes seem inconvenienced or annoyed by my inquisitiveness, Dr. G leans into it---PowerPoint presentations w/ anatomical diagrams, 3D molds of my teeth, pics of my cavities when he opens them up... I love that he always seems happy to oblige my curiosity. Head of a doctoral teaching program, go figure, but I really appreciate it; helps me take better care of myself, bc I understand what's going on. Always helpful re: financing---dental work is not cheap, folks. Core Smiles staff really pushed my insurance company to pay everything my policy allowed, & succeeded! Core Smiles offers other financing options too, if you don't have insurance, or if you reach your maximum. Plus they're all just cool people. Always feel good about going. So yeah. I love Core Smiles, you will too, hope I never have to find another dentist honestly. I have been going to Dr. Cordoves for about 3 years. After breaking my jaw and 8 teeth just 2 months before my wedding, I needed alot of work to look good in time for pictures and honeymoon. He and his staff coordinated all necessary work and accomplished the task with great care and professionalism. And in the process I found that they took the time to learn how you react to certain procedures and anesthetics to really manage the pain best for you individually. I have recommended him to my entire office (which is nearby) and everyone feels the same: Great dentist, great staff. Dr. Cordoves has been my dentist for about 4 years. He and his staff are terrific. They are friendly, professional and very knowledgeable. They listen to each of your concerns, and take their time with each patient. I love not having to wait more than 5 minutes for an appointment. The office is very private and discreet (and well-decorated too!) I had a terrible fear of dentists, due to a lifetime of mismanaged anesthetization from literally EVERY dentist I have ever been to. Dr. Cordoves and his staff are very supportive, and take every step to ensure that my nervousness is mitigated. He is super detail-oriented, and has the very latest in equipment and technology. What used to be a terrible ordeal for me has become relatively routine and completely pain-free (a big deal for me!). I cannot recommend him or his staff highly enough. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Gulizio for a few years. He is an excellent dentist - really couldn't ask for much better. His staff (from the dental hygienist to the receptionist) are great too. I don't have any particularly complicated dental problems, but I always felt like Dr. Gulizio knows his stuff. I believe they don't take any dental plans, which is a bit of a nuisance. However, the office will submit the forms as an out of network provider to your insurance company, and I'm usually reimbursed about 80-90% (sometimes even 100%). It's worth it to pay an extra $40 out of pocket to see a competent dentist. read more

I have been with Dr.C forever. I think since 2005? I love this Dentist! The office is clean, modern and relaxing. The staff is very comfortable to talk to. They are up front about cost and help explain what the long term goals are. I have 2 children and live in Brooklyn and they always work around my schedule rather than theirs. I've had Invisalign and teeth whitening done here. They are helping me work through my Invisalign case where most dentists would have thrown their hands up! I can't say enough about them. I would love to be able to reccomend this practise, its looks great, very clean and comfortable, and Dr Cordoves is amazing. However you pay for the fancy setting and their prices are high. They have a very rigid and inflexible cancellation policy, charging $250 for less than 24 hours notice, including changing a Monday appointment on a Friday. But I am also tired of their incompetent billing, after every visit I receive additional charges in the mail, last time I called and payed the amount in full and a week later recieved another bill for $5. Dr. Sasha Baston is a really great dentist. She is incredibly thorough and careful, but thinks of ways to save her clients money. Once she fixed a bite guard of mine from a different dentist -- for free. Another time I went in expecting to need a filling but she advised against filling it because it was a stain not a cavity. I was looking for a dentist because i just moved to NY, i saw the other yelp reviews and decided to give Core Smiles a try . I already knew what i needed to have done and wanted to know the price for getting a permanent cap on my tooth since they offer a FREE consultation it worked out perfectly. The staff was very friendly and patient with me. The dentist was friendly, gentle and extremely informative, he answered all my questions and literally showed me pictures of my tooth; where/ how high the cap would be placed along with the pros and cons. The cost of getting the cap would run me $1900.00 (I don't have insurance, however they do have payment plans) . Overall i had a great experience. read more

Dr. Gulizio is a thorough, precise, patient and exceedingly skilled doctor who makes you feel at ease from the start. When you make a decision to proceed, you feel that you made an informed decision that is going to benefit you in the end.
