I love this place so much, I come here despite my insurance only covering 80% of services! I've been to so many terrible dentists in NYC, so I've stuck to this one for the past several years. The place is super nice, and the dentists are all amazing. The last person I had do my cleaning was Minseo. Btw, I told her I felt like my teeth was yellowing a bit, but she showed me a teeth shade guide (I had never seen one before!) and assured me that mine were pretty white (woohoo!). BEWARE! DISHONEST PRACTICES I confirmed their dentists were in network and what the payment would be for service prior to treatment. At the time of service in the beginning of 2023 I paid what I owed in the sum of $454. Months later I started to receive Apple Pay requests to pay additional amounts of $500-600. I called their offices, left voice messages, stopped by in person and also emailed various "billing department" employees for an explanation to resolve the issue. NO ONE RESPONDED. The Wall Street location was shut down and this company was apparently struggling when I stopped by one day. I emailed over and over asking for an explanation to resolve the issue over the course of SEVEN MONTHS without a response. Today, I receive ANOTHER Apple Pay request for $680 to be paid promptly from a "Leonetti" at the company. I call up the number and no one answers, I once again leave a VM and email info@dntlbar.com for an explanation of where this amount is coming from. Disgraceful, unprofessional behavior. Get ready this is a long review.. Working in healthcare makes one susceptible to questions of referrals for an array of medical ailments. So I have been asked if I know of any good dentists in the area; that provide great customer service and competent medical professionals. I would like to say that I absolutely 100% would never ever recommend "dntl bar" to anyone. The company prides themselves as being a luxury dentist, going as far to say "the people's dentist." That could not be farther from the truth, an outright blatant lie. It was quick and easy to book my first appointment, after that everything was atrocious. I needed to book a follow up as I needed to get the temporary I paid for. I can't even count how many times I was given the runaround. My phone calls, text messages and emails were never answered. Messages were left and never a return call. After a week of this, I was finally able to speak with someone and schedule my appointment- only to be cancelled because the Dr doesn't feel comfortable seeing me since they did not see me upon my initial visit. This is the same clinical practice! Every provider should feel competent to care for all of the patients, are you telling me that they don't share the patient load and they screen which patients they're able to care for? This is general dentistry, they all should be proficient in their practice! The wait time exceeded an hour, followed by another 30 mins for the hygienist and another 20 mins for the dentist. It must be a joke to state on your website that "dntl bar" empathizes with peoples busy schedules. Prime example as they don't with all that waiting time. The care in itself holds to the standard of the bullshit depicted on the website. Simply put, the dentist I saw Dr Chan is not knowledgeable about bridges- this is the reason why I made the appointment. To replace my bridge, cementing and placement seemed foreign to her. She didn't know how to properly place the bridge. She didn't use a curing lamp to make sure the adhesive held, so naturally it fell out. Now I'm walking around the city without my front tooth. How mortifying and uncomfortable this is. After all this. I received my flipper and like everything else about this place, it is also atrocious. The size of the tooth is inaccurate, the resin that is supposed to be flushed against my gums is sticking out. I don't know what is worse. This company is a mixed bag but seems to be quite possibly a scam. Last year, we scheduled appointments. Everything went well for the most part. They were transparent, offered financial assistance and the dentists themselves, as well as the office staff were helpful, professional and kind. It was a really great experience overall. Fast forward to a year later. We had a few appointments in the books. Those appointments came and went, but when we needed to schedule follow ups for cleanings and fillings, or existing work - we could not reach a single person. Tried several times during the day but all calls go to voicemail. Tried on social media to reach them as well (where they are normally responsive) but still no response. The message was "read" but ignored. Tried again a week later, no response. Yet when I've passed by in cabs, there are clearly people behind the desk and customers entering and leaving. A mystery. So, two months of trying to reach anyone has proven futile. My question is: why the sudden drop in customer service? Are you hiding something? I'm not alone in this either. Been going to dntl bar for a year +, but today I went in for an annual cleaning and was completely baffled. I had done X rays there but they had "lost" them with the switch of management. I was forced to pay $580 for a cleaning and x rays. Totally overcharged. I had the dntl bar plus plan (which was cancelled with the change of management with NO heads up prior to my visit). Super unprofessional service. Additionally, I had a consultation with an oral surgeon a couple months back regarding and implant, and was informed today that he was no longer with the office. So convenient. I was looking for a place that would charge me less than $300 and gave me the option of having my teeth cleaned as a new patient without having X-rays done. I made an appointment, was a bit late because of traffic, however they greeted me with a smile and i was brought in right away. One star off for the actual dental cleaning. There were two times when the hygienist was cleaning g my front teeth that water was continuously spraying throughout my hair, lower face, ears, and neck. She did give me a towel though. However during my 20 years of getting my teeth cleaned (by probably a dozen different people) that has never happened. The teeth cleaning could also have been more thorough. I had just gotten health insurance after being uninsured sometime due to Covid, so I made sure to call and have them check that my insurance would cover the work I needed done prior to making the appointment. The actual experience at the office was great, 5-stars to the staff and dentist because it was a great experience and everything was very modern and clean. I left happy. 3 months later I get a post due bill emailed to me. Which was a surprise to me because I was told my insurance would cover it. It was over $500... for an annual cleaning. SEVERAL emails between myself and their billing department over the next 6 months and I finally was able to settle for around $50... Now suddenly, from a surprise bill of several hundred dollars that they were temporarily out of my network and I owe several hundred dollars because of this. I've been offered apologies and an option for a payment plan. Look, if you don't know the answer just say so. I am still going through a year long ordeal where my basic cleaning wasn't fully covered under my insurance because of 360 x-rays used by Dntl Bar. Eventually, their director of revenue admitted that their company didn't properly train the staff member who misinformed me. She then offers a rebate which I rejected until receiving a full "refund". A few months later, I received a bill for two thirds of the cost from my insurance company. Basically, the company refunded me what I paid but got reimbursed for part of it. And I'm now left on the hook for the rest. To think that this accounting trick would escape me is absolutely confounding. Safe to say, there are many avenues to recovering the money directly from Dntl Bar for me and for others. But everyone in a similar situation should continue to press. read more

After some lengthy discussions with their staff, it seems like things have really gone downhill since the ownership change a few months ago. Each of the two times I've been since then they have completely messed up the insurance situation. I sent them numerous emails and never got a response, so I went in person and asked and the guy checked and said "yeah your emails were received and looked at but it looks like we never replied". Great. So now I call. They say that they have to get the manager (Caroline) to get involved. I called five times, each time they say the manager will call me back within 15 minutes. Then I said I wanted to stay on the line until she did. They left me on hold for thirty minutes. To be clear, the front desk staff and the dental staff are all very nice. Let me start by saying this. Dntl Bar is a scam in every direction. If I could leave zero stars, I would. They have dentists straight out of school with little to no experience. I signed up to get work that was supposed to take 4 visits total and it ended up being several months and a couple dozen visits. This all started with a cleaning then it lead to actual work that needed to be done. The first manager who signed me up gave me a great deal to lure me in and then was fired soon after. I literally saw 3 different dentists before the only one who actually stepped seemed like he knew what he was doing. All said and done, it turns out that he has no idea what he was doing because after being unhappy with the work that they did, there was nothing further that they could do and another dentist confirmed that it was horrible for so many reasons. Through out this whole process, it was extremely difficult to speak to anybody and get this handled because after a couple weeks, whoever i was speaking to was no longer there for one reason or another. I started going to chelsea dntl bar a few years ago and really enjoyed the office and the hygienist, however, the business is horribly run and the customer service staff is useless. I had a consultation for Invisalign and found out I had to move out of state a few weeks later so I canceled my treatment. They were supposed to refund me my deposit but instead accidentally charged me twice and have kept me on the monthly reoccurring charge for 3 months after cancellation. I've emailed Chelsea EIGHT times with no response in over 2 months, I have called 10+ times, and still haven't gotten the issue resolved. Customer service reps have no answer and will not connect me with billing. I had to dispute with my credit card company and I am still getting charged monthly. I have been charged over $3,000 dollars to my credit card and out-of-pocket was only supposed to be $2,000! Stear clear. read more

ALERT: DNTL Bar has changed their biz model and now will only clean teeth if you first have an annual dental exam and get X-rays with them. Previously for years they would provide just oral hygiene cleanings and you could have your exams with a dentist anywhere. I had been getting those cleanings for several years with a fabulous hygienist, and my dentist elsewhere did my check ups and X-rays. When I said I could provide proof of annual check up and X-rays with another professional they insisted it be done there. No longer do they do cleanings for anyone who wants to just have their teeth cleaned by a hygienist, but only for their dentists's patients who pay for X-rays and a checkup first. So they are now simply the usual old fashion dental practice and not what they once marketed as innovative dental experience offering as a walk in array services including cleaning. Love love love this place :) I was worried that this place won't take my dental insurance since it looked too fancy but it was covered. By far the best cleaning experience I've ever had. Super nice staff and facility. Setting up an appointment online was a breeze and didn't have to wait when I got there. They greet you with nice bottle of water, let you pick a netflix show to watch during your cleaning, and give you goggles to put on to protect your eyes (amazing idea!!). They're so fast that my appointment was at 5:30, and I was already doing x-rays at 5:22! They did x-rays, exam + cleaning all on the same day. Top notch service all around! You can watch Netflix while they do their thing in your mouth. They give you sunglasses so the lights don't blind you. The dentist and the hygienist thoroughly explained what they saw on my x-rays in layman's terms so I could understand. My hygienist today, Nikki (Nicki? Sorry ), was AMAZING. She was soo thorough, my teeth are soo clean. She explained what she was doing and what was going to happen next and consistently checked in to make sure I wasn't uncomfortable. Plus she was funny so it made the whole experience even more comfortable. In the beginning she warned me it'd keep getting better, and it did. All around a comfortable, spa-like dentist visit! She gave me chapstick because she could tell my lips were drying up keeping my mouth open so long. When we finished, she gave me a warm lavender scented towelette to clean my face! I also got a cute care package to keep the care going at home. I was initially planning on just paying for the welcome cleaning (which includes free whitening I'll be returning for next week), but I just signed up for their plus plan because I'll definitely be back for another cleaning in 6 months. read more

When I visited dntl bar for the first (and last) time in June 2021, I was told I had a chipped tooth and would need extensive work to fix this issue. I just had a checkup with my usual dentist, and she told me all of my teeth looked fine. There were no chips and there was no issue. So basically dntl was trying to con me into paying for an unnecessary procedure for a chipped tooth that never existed. Cool. Also, they may let you watch Netflix while getting a cleaning, but they don't provide you with headphones (making it impossible to hear over the polishing drills etc), and they might mock you for your choice of viewing material. Sure you get some nice dental goodies in a gift bag at the end, but I'd rather get a quality dentist visit. Go literally anywhere else but here! read more

I went to the newest location on Third and 69th. Had ZOOM whitening treatment and very pleased with the outcome. Everyone is very professional and the design is clean/calming and spacious. Yes you can watch Netflix as you are in the chair. Being only open a few days they were a little disorganized but I forgive them that. I also had to return next day for the personalized trays to use at home. I highly recommend the ZOOM whitening...its expensive but worked and the lower priced option does not make "that" much of a difference from what I understand. read more

I cannot say enough about the amazing staff in this office! Due to some administrative stuff I ended up going to their Union location, (which was also an excellent experience), but the Dentist and Front Desk staff here really made a horrible situation for me soooo much better. 2 stars because I'm sure its nice to get a tooth whitening and cleaning in these fancy chairs with netflix playing. Absolute 0 stars for health, DO NOT use these services if you care about your dental health. I was there for cleaning, x-rays, and if issues were found, having my cavities filled. They claimed to find 9 cavities. I pushed, was he sure? Did all of them NEED to be filled? Could I get prescription toothpaste for them or were they all True Cavities. The dentist rushed past my questions and said I needed to have them all filled quickly before it got any worse. I didn't like the lack of communication, dentists in the past had gone over x-rays in depth with me. When I went to pay, they handed me a treatment plan. I decided to get a second opinion. The second opinion said 2 cavities. That sounded so drastic, in my paranoia I got a third opinion. Third opinion also said 2 cavities. I hope potential customers read this and understand that I don't care about the cost of health, I'm not trying to cut corners with my dental care, I only care about taking the best care of my body, and DNTL is not the choice for that. I would not recommend getting any serious dental procedures here as they are clearly pushing for extra, unneeded dental care, to get more money out of you. I called to schedule a wisdom teeth extraction consultation and was told twice that they accepted my insurance and that they were in-network. The receptionist mentioned that there was a $250 deposit that needed to be paid over the phone that would go towards my extractions. I paid the $250 thinking that the cost of the extractions would be covered by my insurance (since it was supposedly in-network). Once I arrived, the surgeon came into my room 30 minutes late, but said he looked over my x-rays already. He then proceeded to tell me his plan within a max time of 60 seconds for removing "all 4 wisdom teeth", which I then had to correct him that it was only 2... must have really looked into my x-rays... He left the room after seeing me for 3 minutes tops and not knowing which teeth he was even pulling. A woman from the office came out and told me that my insurance isn't actually in network and that i would need to pay the $7,000 upfront. I was extremely angry and left right after. Not only did I take time off of work for this, but also was scammed out of $250 . I have asked for my deposit back and have even submitted a dispute it directly to my credit card company, but they refuse to refund me. There was no service provided and I was lied to twice about insurance coverage. Do NOT go here!!!! They lie about insurance coverage and will do the bare minimum for their clients!!!! I had a terrible experience with this company. I paid $ 1500 of services in advance....their requirement. It included $600 for a nightguard. Despite two efforts over several months their nightguards were not comfortable. They were too large for my mouth. We gave up trying. I later learned most companies offer a few options for fit before they do the personal modifications. They offered me a $214 credit toward future services. When i asked for a larger more appropriate amount of credit, they stopped answering my calls, in person visits and emails. There were at least 8 efforts made to reach a compromise. This place is a total scam. We have been trying to cancel the membership since February when their CEO suddenly resigned and started to close their location without notice. They even took out the membership page online. We called, emailed, texted and no response. We tried different emails that we saw on their website, their social media, even direct response of their staff to other reviewers on Google review. No response. They keep accruing the bill but there's no service or even the same product offering anymore because they literally changed ownership, closed down to one location, and don't even offer the same membership product anymore. Not to mention from our one visit last November, the dentist there were not great they missed a cavity and kept pushing the expensive services like Invisalign. I have nothing but AMAZING things to say about this facility. First let me just talk about walking in. You walk into a a beautiful looking spa.. the smells are of eucalyptus, the decorations are very calming colors, comfortable waiting area where you are greeted by the kindest staff. Being that I am petrified of the dentist- I commend these ladies for listening to my fears and managing it so well because my experience was phenomenal. I had a teeth cleaning, a cavity filled and a whitening. The cleaning and filling were amazing- not only was the hygenist sooo communicative and kind but I was able to relax in the massage chair and watch Netflix. My filling was also an amazing experience- the doctor even listened when I asked if she would use less numbing than usual- as it takes so long to wear off for me. Not only was my experience amazing, but the numbing wore off in 2 hours which has never happened to me! The whitening was a plus and for those with sensitive teeth, it was seamless and I can't wait to go back. I have never liked the dentist but from now on I will only be going here! read more

I had a really amazing first experience with dntl bar in Chelsea! My Dental Assistant, Eduardo, was so so nice and very gentle while taking my x rays! Usually I have issues holding the mouth pieces, but he made everything quick and painless! I saw Dr. Diala Gibson for my examination (and found out that unfortunately today was her last day!) and she was so sweet and really answered all of my questions. She really cared about the health of my teeth, and gave me great advice for taking care of them! However, I'd love to give a shout out specifically to the receptionists there, specifically Geralyz!! The receptionists answered all of my questions via text (I had just shy of a million), and Geralyz was a ray of sunshine there. She was INCREDIBLE at making me feel at home there, and scheduling/ working with my schedule! She put me with Dr. Anora Isaveya for my upcoming appointments, whom I'm excited to work with!! I want to say that all of the people I spoke with today were so kind and non judge mental. I went through an incredibly rough mental health patch and lacked on dental care, and they did not criticize me or make me feel bad at all! Gentle, yet thorough. My teeth felt as smooth as glass when she was done. I've been a long time client of Lavaan, but was very dissatisfied with my last cleaning there. Not only was it not thorough, Lavaan tried to charge me for x-rays they did not perform. Their high pressure, dishonest tactics made me give Dntl Bar a try, and I'm so glad I did. I even tried to give Lady a Venmo tip for her outstanding work (something I've never considered before for a teeth cleaning???). But she would not take it. As she explained, she's a health practitioner. Dntl Bar is pricey at $150 for a cleaning, but well worth it. I had been going to dntl bar in Union Square for a few years and loved it but the location closed so I moved to the Chelsea location. They told me that due to an ownership change, I needed to pay upfront and get reimbursed after they filed a claim to my insurance company, which takes 3-4 weeks but reassured me I'd get refunded. Over 6 weeks later, I have sent 4 emails to dntl bar and called multiple times with no response from them. After speaking to my insurance company, I learned that dntl bar had incorrectly filed my claim because they didn't provide their tax ID #. I have asked them via phone and email multiple times to fix this so I can get refunded for what should be covered by my insurance but they continue to ignore me. I opened up a credit dispute to hopefully get my refund back for a cleaning that should be 100% covered by my insurance. I will not be going back. I suggest you be cautious about paying them in advance if you have insurance since there's a high you won't get reimbursed. read more

Zero! My experience with Dental Bar has been terrible! I experienced the most unprofessional and inexcusable service. Nothing will make me take an appointment with them ever again. They wasted my time - even before getting to see a dentist. My wife tried DTL Bar because they are in network with our dental plan. She got her first checkup done. Everything was fine, our Dental insurance covered everything, so she suggested that I try there as well - as we are under the same insurance. I booked an appointment. They texted to ask for additional information, including my insurance information. I responded with everything they asked for. They texted me confirmation. They sent a reminder text the night before the appointment. Everything seems like it should be confirmed. I took the day off of work. I arrived early for my 11:45am appointment - just in case there was more paperwork to fill out. When I arrived - they couldn't find my appointment anywhere - even though I showed them their texts from the night before confirming my appointment. Someone from DTL Bar cancelled my appointment without notice and re-schedule it for the next day without my consent, while their system still sent me confirmation texts for my 11:45 am appointment. The front desk asked if I could reschedule my appointment for the next day, but I said no because I took a day off work for this specific reason. She found an available spot later on in the afternoon at 3pm instead, which I had no choice but to take, or I would have needed to take another day off from work. While I was at the front desk, I gave her my insurance card and verified that they had all the information that they needed. At 2:30pm, already on my way to the dental office, I received a text saying that while they accept my insurance - I will need to pay $395 out of pocket. I called to ask why I would pay out of pocket when my wife - on the same insurance plan - had not. They told me that the dentist I was going to see was not in network for me. The company accepts my Dental insurance. Why on earth would they assign me a dentist who is out of network - causing me to pay from pocket and hope to be reimbursed later on?!? Too many mistakes were made for me to ever return to DNTL Bar: 1st Mistake: My confirmed appointment got cancelled for no reason and re-scheduled without my consent. 2nd Mistake: Booking an out of network dentist - leaving me to pay the bill, while I am in network with the company. 3rd Mistake: I asked to speak to a manager to discuss the lack of professionalism. No one has contacted me. I took a day off work for this dental appointment. I wasted my morning because someone internally cancelled my appointment, and re-scheduled it to another date without reaching out to me. A second appointment was scheduled with a dentist not in network! I will never waste my time with DTL Bar. I don't recommend it to anyone - unless you want to waste a full day off work and end up paying from your pocket due to their mistakes. read more

This was my first time coming to DNTL and it was a very nice experience. The lobby area and each of the exam rooms were very clean and welcoming. I got the Clean+ which includes a cleaning, xrays, and an exam as well as free whitening at a later date. The cleaning was solid, not the absolute best I've ever had but pretty solid. I think this is an extremely convenient option and easily accessible by any subway. Definitely recommend! Be sure to check if your dental insurance covers this place, mine did not which I found surprising. She personalized my cleaning experience based on information I shared. I left with new tips for my routine and feeling exceptionally clean! She makes me WANT to go to the dentist more than once a year and I've never felt that way in my life. (Thank you Nicki!!!) TOP NOTCH! Love this place, so glad it opened near me. Great atmosphere, caring and friendly staff, and very reasonable rates - especially considering the complimentary whitening and goodie bag of environmentally conscious dental products. Honestly feels like going to a spa!!! Beautiful space, smells clean and airy, not at all like any dentist I've been to before. I was talked through every step and made to feel very comfortable. It's clear they care about their clients/patients experience and take the time to know their likes and dislikes. I don't have dental coverage so it took me awhile to see a dentist, cringing at the possible costs, but I am SO GLAD I came here because every penny was well spent.
