I first found Core Performance Physical Therapy when I had a knee replacement three years ago. Since then I have been back for two other conditions. Each time I have been provided the most effective treatment possible resulting in a faster recuperation to get me moving again. This is the third physical therapy place I've been to in four years for my L5-S1 and it will be the last. Dr. Kwon and his staff are the best. I should have listened to my doctor who said that Dr. Kwon's office was top notch. Instead, I started at another facility because it was a little closer. I learned my lesson, changed to Core Performance and I couldn't be happier. Dr. John Kwon is the owner and is actively involved with his patients. I've worked with John, Martin and Alex and they are all great. They take their time working with the patients, explain what they are doing, ask about your improvement and know their stuff. I never get bored and look forward to my appointments. I like how some of my exercises are consistent, but we also add in new ones. We even use the Pilates machine, which gives a good workout and is easy on my back. They also provide exercise sheets so you can do some of the exercises at home. I like how they focus on strengthening the core and continually remind me to tighten the core throughout all the exercises. They pay attention to what you're doing and want to be sure you doing the exercises the correct way so that you improve. You can tell that the PT's and aides value their patients and want to see everyone improve. They are friendly, knowledgeable and active themselves. I've had two epdiural injections over the last few months and have improved tremendously and know that I will continue to do so with the help of Core Performance. Trust me when I say, they are great. I've been having back and leg pain for over a year. I've been to two physical therapists on referral and my pain over time would not improve. At one point, I had difficulty walking the following day after a session. John Kwon is the first therapist that emphasized my biomechanics at home and at work where I sit most of the time. He uses a three tiered approach that requires help from my doctor, himself, and most importantly myself to adhere to the proper biomechanics daily. I concur with the other writer that John spends much more time with each patient, typically 30 minutes compared to15 minutes. In addition, he has been hands on with communication with my doctor and was instrumental with the diagnosis of my pain source (L5,S1) based on his physical findings. His staff is very pleasant and caring, and I find them very different than other physical therapy outfits I've been to. They are very diligent in making sure that I am doing my exercises correctly and using my core rather than other muscles that may aggravate my pain. They also check to see if my pain is acting up and will tell me to stop if anything feels worse. With my other therpists and aids, they would seldom check, and would not give much advice of maximizing the benefits of the exercises, and would not challenge me enough when things were getting easier. John has been continuously adding exercises as I am getting stronger. I felt about 30% relief just after two visits, and continue to improve over time. John is very understanding and supportive of his patients and really care. He knows how we feel, since he had experienced many types of pain himself. Core performance PT is a great place to go if you need therapy. I have even going there for several different reasons. I have gone for my knee twice my hips and my shoulder. Martin and Adam are the primary therapists who work on me and every time I leave, I leave with less pain. This was my second time using CORE PT and I can't imagine finding another PT center better than this one. You will be assigned a Dr. of physical therapy who will see you and work on you as long as you need to be there. My Dr. was Evan Jeffries and I highly recommend him. He worked on my right hip as well as generating a custom list of exercises. After the therapist works on you, you are then assigned an aid who will make sure you are doing the exercises correctly. I came in with a very limited ability to use my arm after dislocating and fracturing it. 10 weeks later my arm is back at 100% and I can surf again! I was sent here before and after hip surgery and everyone was super great! Adam did an awesome job helping me rehab my hip especially since I was a bit unique with some other limitations. He took the time to listen and understand my particular situation and was creative so we could still rehab my hip without making other issues worse. When I started physical therapy for a torn left lateral meniscus, I was anxious and depressed. I did not want to get surgery but felt unsure about my choice to seek PT, a more conservative treatment. I was in constant pain, walked with a limp, and was afraid that I would have to give up my passion for ballroom dancing. Then I met Dr. Matt. Right from the start, I knew that I had found a capable, skilled and confident professional. During my initial interview and physical evaluation, he reassured me that it was possible to regain normal motion in my knee and improve my overall strength and mobility. Dr. Matt has always maintained excellent communication with me, been attentive to my needs (and I was high maintenance), and was on time for each of our sessions. There was never a time when I felt rushed; he patiently answered all of my questions, even when they were repetitive. I trusted Dr. Matt even when he challenged me. He was able to blend kindness with assertiveness; encouragement with reassurance; and all while adjusting my program to meet my individual needs. I actually looked forward to three sessions a week for three months, despite the fact I had to work very hard. I had a great therapist, Dr. Martin Bui. He was professional and caring. I could see that he knew what he was doing. I've been to other places that didn't do much beyond what I was doing at home. It was easy to get in. The atmosphere was pleasant and upbeat. All of the PT aides were very friendly and wanted the best care for me. The team at Core Performance helped me restore more physical mobility than any of the other three facilities I tried. Each time I'd explain the physical limitation, Evan would locate the group of muscles that needed attention, massage them with the perfect amount of pressure (not painfully hard or too soft) and create a program that would increase my mobility. Having gone to other facilities, I was a little skeptical at first but after the second week, my mobility improved 2x. Once Evan left for paternity leave, I was skeptical again, but Morgan stepped in with more of a concentration on stretches than massages which was perfectly timed as my mobility improved another 2x. After that I was sold on the entire team and followed all direction given. I did not work with all the Aides but Paolo, Lena, Rylan, Amanda and Nicole were like spokes on a wheel, no need to remind them of my routine. Mike and Chloe had great tips on improving form.
