OCPT has a large open treatment area with multiple beds and therapists working simultaneously. I am comfortable with the lack of privacy as long as patients receive proper attention. However, I have noticed a consistent issue across several therapists. After the first five minutes of evaluating the patient, many therapists begin engaging in casual conversations with other therapists or clients, and this continues throughout the session. This takes away from the quality of care, as they are no longer fully focused on the patient. Every patient, whether paying through insurance or co pay, deserves the therapist's FULL attention for the ENTIRE session, not just the first few minutes or the last portion. While working in a shared space is understandable, it is not appropriate for therapists to engage in unrelated conversations once a session has started. Management should address this and ensure therapists remain fully attentive to their own patients at all times. Have been coming for a couple months and everyone at the Newport location has been great. Front Desk staff is super helpful and the PTs are top notch. Unfortunately they have almost no availability and getting consistent treatment is nonexistent. You are constantly waiting for 2 weeks and crossing your fingers you get a call from the waitlist. Even if you book ahead, moving appointments is difficult due to availability. They get you in super fast for the first appointment but don't tell you you'll be waiting 2 weeks to see them again. My 8 year old son Brody has been working with Brittany for PT on his elbow for the last 6 weeks. Brody fractured his elbow in October and had surgery with a cast afterwards for 5 weeks. Brittany worked with him on increasing his mobility, strength building, range of motion, and overall use and confidence in using his dominant arm again. Brittany was amazing to work with ~ she was great with making him feel comfortable, at ease, and explaining everything so he could understand what they were focusing on each week. He really motivated and pushed me and I have improved considerably. Honestly, i was getting worried about dealing with this for another 30 years! Thankfully I am doing dramatically better and expect to continue to make progress at home now that my sessions have ended. I come here once a week to work through various ailments ranging from my plantar fasciitis to wrist pain to tricep/elbow attachment pain. I specifically go to the owner Victor. He's been a wealth of knowledge with regard to making daily activities and workouts more efficient, effective and pain-free. Prior to coming to this facility, I wasn't a believer in PT and would simply just let time pass to let my body heal. Front desk staff is very knowledgeable and always available to answer questions via phone call or text. The facility is clean, well equipped and not over crowded. If I could just write a review based purely on the care I received from the physical therapists, I would have easily given this place a five-star. My first session was with Rachel and she was great. I came in with issues with my low back and immediately she started off the first evaluation with giving me some good exercises to work on. She also gave me her email to ask questions, even when I wasn't receiving direct care from her. I mostly used when I had questions relating to exercises that were given to me. I had a few other therapists (I don't remember their names) whenever Rachel wasn't available but I received great care from them too. I got a mix of massage, cupping, and having them guide me through new exercises to help my low back pain. All of them are great people, the appointments are usually anywhere from 40 to 60 minutes, and whenever I actually went into the office to get care it was a great experience. Now unfortunately, at the time when I went (which is about late 2022), easily the biggest flaw of this place is how busy it is and how ridiculously hard it is to get consistent appointments. It's pretty apparent that this place is popular, but unless you're really lucky, good luck getting more than one appointment per week, hell even once every two weeks. You basically have to get really lucky and get on one of their waitlists in case people cancel. Sadly, in my experience I never got that lucky and there were periods when I waited over two weeks between appointments. Unfortunately, I did not get consistent care from the actual therapists and basically just had home exercises to do, so it was frustrating to not see therapists consistently. Scheduling far ahead of time didn't really work either because sometimes 1.5-2 weeks ahead was sometimes pretty much packed, so even with a relatively flexible work schedule it was hard for me to find a time to schedule. My insurance only covered six visits. However due to how busy and how annoying it was to get appointments at OCPT I wasn't even able to use all of them before the period that my insurance let me. Possibly due to that, my insurance declined me from getting any more covered appointments by them. OCPT does have out-of-pocket payment plans where I think you can get a slight discount if you pay for a bunch of appointments at a slightly discounted cost. I considered using this method, but as much as I liked seeing the actual therapists, it sadly overall wasn't worth waiting so long between appointments to me and I ended up having to go somewhere else. It's unfortunate because once again like I said in the beginning, whenever I actually was able to receive care, I loved my experience, but the inconsistent availability of scheduling just made it too frustrating to get the care I felt I needed. So basically if you're lucky and are able to see physical therapists even once a week consistently, I think the high reviews for OCPT make perfect sense. However it's very likely if you try to go in now as a new patient, it'll be a very frustrating experience to even see consistent physical therapist care. read more

I had a bike fitting with Haze, who looked over my overall posture and flexibility off-bike before transitioning me over to the bike. He helped me adjust my seat's tilt and height and watched my performance with the changes. The first experience was positive; we did the measurements outside because my bike was unusual and could not be mounted on their current trainer. For the follow-up Haze has invested in a brand new trainer which he used to confirm the measurements. After 3 weeks of working with Victor I am starting to see progress in gaining strength and stability where I was weak. I went in with right pelvic pain after running or walking long distances. He was quickly able to identify the issue of the wrong muscles compensating for my weaknesses-which caused my pain. From there, every session consisted of therapeutic massage and strengthening exercises to improve my strength and stability which would translate into the correct muscles working when I run/walk. Usually in physical therapy, you see the doctor for therapeutic massage and to be diagnosed. Then you work with aids to perform the exercises who are trained on form but don't understand muscle mechanics like the Dr. just a tiny shift in movement can change the muscles you are using and render the exercise useless for your specific issue. That is why I appreciate Victors approach to proving personalized care that he monitors from start to finish. read more

After L4, L5 & S1 decompression surgery my surgeon Dr Burak Ozgur (who was amazing) recommended I see victor Rusenescu with Orange County Physical Therapy OCPT. I took his advice and couldn't be happier I did. My surgeon told me that the surgery he performed on me may need to be elevated to fusion surgery if I didn't gain relief. Victor has worked on me for two months and believes my back issue stems from what he calls cross over syndrome. Meaning my hips are so tight that they are pulling on my lower back creating my issue. Well, after having intense sessions from Victor and his amazing staff I am feeling so much better and stronger. The sessions are hard with some intense pain when getting massaged by the staff. I'm playing golf and doing workouts 3 times a week. Yes I still have limitations but I am on the road to being back 100%. If you need PT and are will to work during your PT sessions (its not a social meeting) as well as doing the exercises OCPT gives you at home, you will progress rapidly. My experience with OCPT was fantastic! Let's start by saying Korbyn at the front desk was awesome and patient with my gazillion questions. It was my first experience with PT and I didn't really know how it all worked with insurance etc... She was also great about helping me to remember to schedule my future visits. Although I met with a few PT's at OCPT (Matt(s) and Victoria), I met most consistently with Brittany. She too was so patient with my questions. She was great about educating me on what we were working towards, as well as things I should be doing at home to aid in my recovery. I never felt rushed and she always ran on time with her appointments. Most importantly though, my shoulder/neck issue that I was being seen for, significantly improved and I no longer need to go for sessions. I have been to several physical therapy places for my legs and back over the years. From my calf muscle tears to straining my back, and everything in between! Victor has worked on all of those, including my hamstrings when I've pulled those muscles too! One thing about Victor that is different about everyone else I've seen, is that he seems to really care about making sure your ailment gets better. He pays attention to detail, and he makes sure you also work hard yourself to get better and stronger. He not only focuses on the immediate area in need, but emphasizes the importance to strengthen the area around it too! One thing I did not like about him was that he pays too much attention that I am not slacking off during my exercises! It's like he has eyes behind his head! There are days I am so tired and not putting forth full effort, and he always makes sure I am doing the exercises correctly. But I guess that's good because I can't cheat myself! Its inevitable the older I get and stay as active as I am, i will strain or tear a muscle somewhere in my body but I feel fortunate that I can go to Victor when that time comes again and confident that he will lessen my healing time! I recently scheduled a time slot for the Cycling Performance Program with Dr. Haze Hernandez. I've been "fitted" for road bikes in the past and to be honest I was pretty sure I had my fit for my latest bike dialed in although I was experiencing some pain after rides. When I first heard of his program, I was excited to check it out thinking "who's better to fit you than someone who has knowledge on biomechanics?" Following my visit, I learned where I stand in terms of what tendencies I have with my posture, why I have them, and what I need to work on. I was given a list of exercises to do which I now do regularly and the difference of the quality of my rides is night and day! He also adjusted everything from the seat angle to the position of my cleats using all the necessary tools and instruments for a professional bike fit. I now have all the intricate measurements for my bike setup so that I can set it back up in case I change any components. The session also included a follow-up where my progress was checked and my fit was rechecked to ensure I am still pedaling at optimal efficiency. Now the only "pain" I feel is the good kind in my glutes (I previously never felt my glutes being worked) and I owe it to Dr Hernandez and the gang at OCPT. If you are a cyclist and serious about ergonomics on a bike, I definitely recommend trying this program out. read more

I have been going to OCPT since January following my December back surgery. The front office is remarkable. They are attentive and follow through completely. Fortunately, I have had the opportunity to work with several therapists due to the way I have done my scheduling. My experience with Matt was good he knew what to and didn't push me too much, definitely would recommend him for the PT part. The real reason that I gave them only two stars was the scheduling/front desk. My sessions were only 40 minutes, which felt a little short personally. They are also scheduled back to back to the minute. which means that if you go during a busier time (and it always felt busy) they would cut your already short session down a couple minutes so the therapist could get ready for the next person. This also meant they wouldn't always start on time for the next person but a few minutes late, so no need to be early. I also had them cancel 2 sessions on me because of scheduling conflicts on their side, which they only informed me after I got there, waste of time. The last thing is their reminder emails get sent out less than 24 hours ahead of time, and giving their 24 hour notice cancelation policy/significant cancelation fee you can't change appointments very easily. All those little things add up to poor rating. The PT side -- however short I was there -- felt good and they knew what they were doing. read more

OCPT is a unique place. It feels not like a fitness/therapy office but rather a social club. The place has a very interesting design. All employees are nice and friendly. They offer you a good coffee, and they make you feel at home. It is relaxing and usually, conversation floats around: about new restaurants and cafés in the area, camping locations, experiences, stories, movies - anything. Not only you with you and your therapist - but among everyone... I cannot strike enough how easy-going everybody is. But the place works like a clock. My therapist was recommended by my doctor and is worth all the praise! Highly professional and knowledgeable. They offer fitness classes. My fitness instructor was Rebecca. She always adjusted to my exercise preferences and that made her worth driving 30 minutes for her classes, even though I could take a fitness instructor within 5-10 minutes walking from my house! I came in with severe back pain-- I had to actually cancel my flight home because of the back pain. The team diagnosed me with a possible herniated disc and sciatica. The team was great in getting me scheduled and treating me for the few days I was here. Big improvement day one, and by day 4 I'm feeling pretty good and ready to go home.
