Not only is he very knowledgable on muscles , tenders , joints, etc, he is also familiar with PT devices that help settle knee pain n help me get better sleep at night. Best of all, Tanner (and the entire clinic ) specialize in giving a lot of hands-on treatment. His technique is to go deep into the calf, knee, hamstring which help me more than just doing the exercises. I have been going to Accelerate physical therapy in total for about two months now. I went in going with some hand, forearm, and neck pain. Which I believed to just be through repetitive strain use through computers. I went in after going to couple other hand specialty physical therapists, and they weren't helping with my issues. I'm still going to Accelerate and tend to be here for a while unless they just discharge me. But I wanted to put a quick review that I might update later. My experience from the beginning has been amazing. One of the main physical therapists (Shawn) was the first to reach out to me to help facilitate the process of becoming a new patient. After I sent a bunch of PT requests to many places. I really like the online appointment system. It makes it easy to find times that work for me, as well as being able to reuse the information to set up multiple appointments in the month at the same time. If I need to change any appointment times or cancel anything, there's an easy phone number you can call or text. Sara is usually the one that will update appointments and text you information. Especially if the therapist cannot make your appointment, or you need to reschedule, She will make sure to do so properly. I ended up seeing a Doctor Andrew for about a month or two. He was great for multiple reasons. First of all, he was the one that actually put me on the right track to figuring out what my actual issue is: Thoracic outlet syndrome. Something I had never even heard of before coming here. I know physical therapists can't officially diagnose people like a doctor can, but it helped me get on the track to finding a doctor and neurosurgeon who could help me do tests to get officially diagnosed. For that alone, I was extremely grateful to Doctor Andrew and accelerate physical therapy for just the knowledge. Many of the sessions have basically been deep tissue massage fascial work. Usually around the upper body, neck, and the arms. Usually very targeted to the nerve and muscles or neuromuscular. Doctor Andrew slightly changed the treatment every visit depending on which part of my body hurt more that day. As someone with weak muscles in the upper arms and to be honest the whole body, Doctor Andrew was helpful for getting me started with stretches and exercises to help me slowly deal with my Neck And hand issues.He even prescribed a few nerve glides, something that I'm pretty sure most physical therapists don't even give you at all. If I have any questions about how to do any of the exercises and stretches or nerve glides, doctor Andrew was willing to spend a decent amount of therapy to just help me make sure I'm doing my things at home correctly. Doctor Andrew was also very willing to help me do ergonomic changes for both my computer job at work and my home desk. For personal computer use. I was able to e-mail him a photo and video of how I use my computer and he gave me suggestions to improve posture. He has also given suggestions on how to drive and use the steering wheel with less pain. After about a month and a half, doctor Andrew went on paternity leave, so he recommended me to see one of the other physical therapists, Dr Jordan. I've only seen Doctor Jordan a few times as of this review. He has also been very helpful, but in different ways. He reviewed the exercises and stretches that I've already been given and helped make sure I was doing them the actual correct way of maximizing the relief I get from them. In addition, he's also been giving me more specific posture changing. Which I believe is going to be a good way to help me long term. I haven't even emphasized this part yet, but this place, as they say, is pure one to one physical therapist treatment. They don't do that thing where you just see a physical therapist for like 5 to 15 minutes, then send you off with somebody else like an assistant. At this place you see your physical therapist the whole time, which I think is very helpful since you can get any work you need on you while also being able to ask questions. All three doctors that I've had the experience of talking with have been very nice and It's fun to even have casual conversations with them, despite the pain that I'm going through. The icing on the cake is that they actually accept a lot of insurance. One of the issues I had with a previous Physical therapist I had before is while I liked them, they did not accept insurance which could be huge bite out of my wallet. With Accelerate physical therapy I was able to get good one on one treatment with good knowledgeable therapists and my insurance could actually help me. This is an amazing combination. Overall if you have any issue and you especially had issues a the previous physical therapist and you don't even know what your diagnosis is, definitely give these people a chance. read more

I highly recommend Accelerate Physical Therapy. My son (aged 17), a soccer player, has been seeing Dr. Shawn and Dr. Andrew since December 2014. At that time, Dr. Shawn and Dr. Andrew were working in a different office, but because of their expertise with sports related injuries, we followed them when they opened up their new business. Initially, they helped my son come back from Osgood Schlatter Disease when he was only 11 years old. I've had the privilege and luck to have found Dr Andrew and Dr Shawn for treatment and recovery for my ailments. I have L4 disc degeneration, had a left labrum tear, shoulder range of motion dysfunction, improper walking habits, cervical stiffness that caused headaches rotational limitations and numbness down my fingers, difficulty standing after sitting, thoracic stiffness, and trigger finger. Most all of my injuries such as the disc degeneration was a result of my golfing career. For 30+ years, I've competed professionally at a high level and stressed my body in ways I was never aware. After a car accident 6 years ago, my ortho recommended I quit the game or find a miracle. 3 failed spinal injections later, surgery was an option as a last resort alternative, then I found Accelerate. I've been to many places that do simple massages, chiropractic adjustments, and acupuncture, but none had lasting affects and often times, you regress back into pain after 5 minutes on your way home. Dr Andrew has worked extensively to re-wire how to use my muscles to properly stabilize my joints. The neuro-education these guys provide is the most critical element of any therapeutic recovery and have yet to find any PT or fitness facility that does so with their level of accuracy and quality. The level of attention, the detail of what how and why to do required training, and the immediate results is beyond words and expectation and should be industry standard. After years of working through pain, and a car accident that almost took my passion away from me, I'm now able to perform better than when I was younger and most importantly, without pain! For you golfers out there, whether you have pains or not, they've got a golf screen similar to TPI but on a medical grade level and far more specific to each individual. I highly recommend it before injuries occur or to enhance swing performance. Would have saved me years of injuries and having to tough out pain. Even simple things, brushing teeth, walking on sand at the beach, getting in and out of cars, were difficult and often frightening worrying if my back would give out. If I have any episodes, I'm now fully educated on what is causing the pains, what muscles to use to stabilize my body, and how I need to stretch and exercise to not just alleviate but avoid reoccurring episodes. I've been doing my physical therapy with these 2 amazing doctors!! I moved to California after a major car accident. I was in CRAZY HARSH pain when I first came here. Now after just a couple of month I am 50% better. They are amazing doctors and I will refer other because if you want amazing care to get your body where it needs to be, then these are the 2 doctors you should really work with. Their style and energy brighten up your mood as soon as you walk through their doors. I also want to say that their secretary Ann is also amazing I had a lot of paperwork to figure out and she walked me right through it all step by step!! Dr. Mead and Dr. V are the absolute best. I have had serious knee problems (I can never remember the medical word for it ) for the majority of my adult life and they have almost completely fixed my injury!! After meeting with them for the past few months, and the home stretches and instructions my knee is almost back to 100 percent perfect function. They always make time for me even though I have a very difficult schedule. Constantly checking in and seeing if I need anything or any tips on how I can feel better when I'm working out. As I have a very mobile job and am on my feet over ten hours a day they have given me tips on what I should be doing, down to the Insoles I need for my shoes !! These guys know their stuff! Accelerate PT is the BEST physical therapist ever, unique in there approach and methodology. I am a triathlete and injured my knee during a 56-mile Triathlon bike relay. After the event, I felt no pain while biking or swimming, however, running was painful. An Orthopaedic physician took an x-ray, and told me i have a torn meniscus and needed PT. A trusted fellow triathlete highly recommended Accelerate PT. Dr. Shawn Mead carefully evaluated me, asking me all the right questions about what type of pain I was feeling where and when, and determined that it was Pes Arserinus Tendinitis that was causing my running pain. Doc Shawn treated my knee and showed me exercises, clearly articulating the WHY behind what he was saying and doing, and wanted me to do. It was enlightening to better understand how my body functions, so I could intentionally help it heal. Doc Shawn laid out a plan for me and gave me HOPE that within a few weeks, I would run again! I have had an issue (over a year) with my right knee (pain/swelling) and thought I may need knee replacement surgery (in my 60s). My doctor suggested I go to APT to be evaluated. I have been with many different physical therapist, and Emma is the best I have ever seen. I suffered a serious shoulder injury (torn labrum) and had an surgery. After the surgery, I had seen many different therapist, but only to my disappointment until I met Emma. Emma is very intelligent and super professional. I came to see Angela because I had tendinitis/repetitive stress injury in my hand. I chose to see her because her office was very close to my work at the time. I was pleased to find out that she has a PhD and would be working directly with us the patients. At the other physical therapy place that my insurance had initially sent me to I only worked with physical therapy assistants and at that place the assistants didn't really seem to know what they were doing or to do a thorough job. Healing Hands is the opposite. Angela is very dedicated and helpful. She creates a healing plan for you including exercises to do outside on your own and she is really good about checking up on your progress each time you come in to see her, trying to get to the bottom of any issues, and helps you adjust the plan accordingly. Her physical therapy treatments in the office are great. She used a variety of methods, techniques and exercises to help relieve the pain and move towards long-term healing. Unfortunately after a certain number of visits (can't remember the exact number) my insurance suddenly and unexpectedly cut me off and we didn't have time to complete the full treatment plan. She was generous in saying I could call her if I had any quick questions or issues come up. I ended up going to acupuncture after this because the insurance covered it, and as a result between the two (physical therapy and then acupuncture) I eventually reached maximum healing. If you are looking for a friendly, caring, professional, and knowledgeable physical therapist for whatever injury you have and you are in the Newport Beach/Irvine/Costa Mesa area, I would definitely recommend Angela at Healing Hands. read more

Hands down the best PT experience I've ever had! Dr. Shawn, PT, DPT is professional, experienced, interested and most importantly very knowledgeable and caring and genuinely wants to help you get better and stay better. I haven't been personally treated by Dr. Andrew, PT, DPT but given everything I've seen and heard when I'm in the practice from him and from people he's been treating He is the same as Dr. Shawn. I have been with many different physical therapists for knee pain and low back pain over many years and Dr. Shawn is the best I've ever seen. This PT practice is the exact opposite of the "mills" too many PT practices are operated as. A "mill" you go to PT and they always apply heat, ice and e-stim and you perform all exercises and stretches on yourself in the practice and there is little if any analysis and hands on work on you to release or increase your range of motion and no work with you to retrain or rewire your body to help recovery and prevent re-occurrence. I can't say enough about the care you receive. I always look forward to my visits with him and I leave feeling better every time. Oh yes, there can be a whole lot of pain while being worked on, but it is always therapeutic and fades before the end of the visit. I was fortunate enough to be recommended to Accelerate PT by my family physician. I'm in PT this time for a very painful frozen shoulder and a painful and stiff left knee with most of the range of motion lost and pain on left side of the tailbone. The level of hands on work which is work you cannot do to yourself, the level of analysis, the level of attention, the level of detail on what, how and why to do the required exercises, stretches and re-wiring, and the results produced, met and exceeded my expectations and should be the industry standard. I came in with an extremely painful frozen left shoulder preventing me from lying on my stomach and fully lying on my left side and fully lying flat on my back. It was tough to sleep 100% sitting propped straight-up or reclining somewhat. I also had a progressively worsening left knee getting more painful and stiffer every day. I had lost a lot of knee range movement. This prevented some preferred positions for treatment of my very painful stiff left knee and Dr. Shawn improvised and pressed onward with my knee therapy. In a "mill" like situation this might not happen. The body education Dr. Shawn provides I now know is a critical element of any therapeutic recovery and I did not encounter this in any previous PT practice. In body movement malfunctions, everything is connected and one thing leads to another and so on. I fervently wish I had discovered this practice six months ago when my lower back unexpectedly "blew out" again. It was so painful I was bed ridden for 4 days straight lying flat on my back and had to pee in a container. On the 4th day my low back pain started to clear and I could walk around just barely enough to use the restroom with a high-chair, but I still spent the majority of my time lying flat, sitting or reclining somewhat. Probably due to far too much inactivity, my left shoulder started to be painful and my left knee started to stiffen and be painful on bending after no movement. Eventually my back cleared up but my shoulder became intolerably painful whether it was moved or not and I could no longer lay flat on my back or either side and my knee continued to worsen. I can only imagine how much pain and motion loss I might have been saved if had gone to this practice after my back cleared up enough to travel. read more
