Cordo just opened 5 weeks ago makes this a true hidden gem. Take note any reviews older are from previous place by same name and address.
I've learned a while ago that if a concierge from a fancy hotel recommend a restaurant, they are usually spot on. Thankfully this still holds true. Dining solo I prefer bar dining, and thankfully they had accommodated my request to sit there. Great vibe, service attentive and conversation fun, entertaining and professional. Excellent wine selection, I they they said they had more than 300. They design looked like art and bountiful of little touches that I really appreciated. Check it the woman's toilet for more thoughtfulness. I placed an *Symbol next to my favorite dishes.
I chose the 8 course tasting menu for 95 euros
But make that 11 course if you add the three amuse-bouche plates.
*housemade crispybread, Hamburg smoke Eel, pumpernickel cream
Three generous slices of Japanese yellowtail
I can't recall the third except that it has soybeans, Bacon and cream. Looked like a cream brûlée. Amazing flavor.
The housemade (fresh out of the ocean)sourdough bread served with flower butter.
celery, egg yolk
trout, broccoli, smoked almonds
*pearl onion, mimolette (I could drink a cup of that sauce)
*zander, kale-pesto, chicken-dashi
calf's brain, fermented radish, algae-soy-dust
*Oldenburger duck, quince, shiitake, dill yoghurt WOW, perfectly balanced and impressive. Michelin star quality.
*passion fruit, lettuce, cucumber
honey-wax Ice cream, caramel, macadamla nut
Overall, amazing dining experience that I will always remember when I think of Berlin.
