I've been visiting Mitte for 8 years now, and I was finally able to visit this very calm, two floor, beautiful restaurant. The servers were extremely competent, but also relaxed with the non-formal atmosphere. I didn't believe the server, but he was correct about the Salad roulade: The roasted / smoked almonds really did taste like bacon. Now, there is a valuable secret. The lamb and morel was also excellent, as was the German wagyu with cherries. I'll have to return soon. 2023 08 31. M3.

This was one of my most favorite dining experiences. It was in September of 2018, but forgot to post this review - it's [a bit] late but...better then never! In my experience, it's right up-there with Facil, Berlin, as far as the meticulous level of foodie. However, the wine selection here was definitely an incredible offer. I will definitely revisit this place in September...soon when I'm back to Berlin.

I thoroughly enjoyed myself with my work conf colleagues. Service was excellent & discreet, enviro was eclectic but warm vibe. Light & bright ver somehow cozy & intimate surrounded by so many wines. Food was fantastic, wine too. My only sadness is I could not get a glass of Gewurtaminer.

What an amazing experience! Not stuffy or pretentious like most Michelin starred restaurants. The staff was extremely lovely and friendly! We had the 6 course meal and it was spectacular. The portions were beautiful and just right. Each dish was a pop of flavor. Simply amazing and worth the splurge for foodies in Berlin.

I will reserve my final rating until after the second visit. To be honest I saw this place as we were walking around and decided to stop and check it out with a couple of friends locally. They did not know and neither did I that, this wine bar / restaurant was awarded its second Michelin Star in 2018. It's located in an ok neighbourhood between some small cafes and its fairly casual. The wine list here gets 5 stars and I loved it. We tried a few wines and I could have happily spent a whole evening trying different wines. They have a robust selection of German and Austrian wines which is not common. The small food selection was small and we tried a few small dishes. The servings were small and to be honest none of it tasted fabulous. The breads were excellent and I loved it. The cheese plate was so tiny it was barely 4 mouthfuls :-( Service was excellent to start but then we ended up sitting for quite a while with empty glasses and no service :-( given we were sitting outside but it was not very busy inside either. At a place with such hugh ratings I don't expect empty glasses ever. I will try the dinner menu before making my final judgement. At a minimum I would come here again for a wine evening. It's really nice inside and I could happily spend hours here trying wines :-)

5 STRONG stars! Had an amazing evening here. Looked this place up by googling wine bar berlin. Found Rutz weinbar. Then I used Yelp and U guys said it was great. YES IT IS!! Came in w/out a reservation but it was early. They asked if we wanted the wine bar on the ground floor or the Michelin starred restaurant upstairs. We chose the wine bar. We were seated at a table and our coats were taken. A cute purse holder was attached to the table for us too. The service was charming. Really nice. Attentive The food was amazing. I had wine (of course) an d a lovely salad and a salmon dish and my friend did the secret dinner which was 3 or 5 courses- you choose and you tell them your dislikes or restrictions and they wow u. My friend is not picky at all (nothing like me) and she LOVED her surprise dinner. The wine and wine suggestions were right on. The pours are small. Prices are high. It's classy. It's worth it! I dream over and over of this dinner.

WowwwwZZZZ! The BEST meal I've had in Berlin this last trip was at Weinbar Rutz. It was crowded when I went and Ummmm was hesitant because of the Michelin star. From seafood paluto restos in Manila to raw food dining in Sicily, my taste is not governed by Michelin stars/Zagat ratings. Michelin/Zagat systems do not have a world reach. My palate enjoys global influences as is true of lots of world foodies. My fave social dining app, Yelp (what else) led me here. Yay for sites like Yelp and tripadvisor because you see everyone else's points of view, and not just Michelin or Zagat. But whatev, sometimes I just say the hell with it. Plus, I'm really an igno about German wines and this place boasted its collection so off I went. Ambience You walk into Rutz and you are greeted warmly, the environment brown wood tones, professional service, luna lighting, and wine bottles grazing an entire wall. That's the casual section of the Rutz. The restaurant upstairs is the more formal serious if not exclusive. I didn't have a reservation. I was hoping for the casual first floor as I walked in from the cold snowy evening, a friend to meet for dinner and was honestly unsure they were gonna let me in without a reservation. They did. Opened. The menu (looks daunting but not really) was simply laid out, reasonably priced, and since this was my first visit here, my waiter, recommended German wine pairings with the dishes I selected. I selected a prix fixe of 3 dishes and wine pairings I deferred to him. First course: Roasted black pudding, with leeks, snap peas, vegetables. Black pudding, a global ingredient not for the faint but more for palates with an appreciation for the 'acquired' but also for 'green'. Served on a small saucepan, the dish was beautiful. I sat back, paused because I use this same saucepan often. Strange eating out of a pan but, it was inventive so I was open. I sliced into black pudding the spoon pierced into the soft, quivering globe to reveal a light and hinting a creamy (vs. cakey) and earth flavors....so good. It had that firm freshness you'd expect from a classic souffle, cushiony, not minerally like most blood puddings... elegant. That, was countered with wok crisp veggies weird but the sugar hints from the snap peas, teasing carrots, melded with the souffle like a the sugar crispness of a creme brulee . Super happy. My waiter produced a Wachenheimer Riesling Tocken that went uber delicious with this stunner of a dish. A riesling with blood pudding?...... Yes I was turned around but my waiter gave a taste first and ooooh, the riesling was flowery, not sweet (as one would expect) with notes of crisp dewy grapes. Second Course: Mangalitsa baby backs (it looked appetizingly good fall off the bone good) served with a towel drove me to dive into it before my iPhone could capture the plate. For this my waiter produced a taster, a Von Winning Sauvignon Blanc. I was told only one 500 liter cask was produced for this award winning vintage. The pork was milky soft enhanced by the poppy seeds, browned shallots... I loved the dish, never thought poppy seeds that went well with spare ribs. Then the wine.....there was a fragrance to the sauvignon blanc so distinctive, the nose so delicious, someone should come up with a cologne with this essence. I took a sip and it was like no other SB I've tasted. It profiled a crisp wine, neutral acidity, mild honey, a fragrance to die for that you kept drinking. First time for me to pair this great white with ribs, not the last. Third Course: Finally, my final dish a Holstein ox shoulder, braised low and slow for 22+ hours, served with a puree of beans and veggies came. Silent awe. With this, my waiter Fido, produced a Pinot Noir type, a Spatburgunder, Salwey. You take a bite of the "braised steak" and you are overcome with flavors, coarse salt, texture of a dish simple yet refined, tasty.......still craving this dish. The braising liquid was soft and developed as thought the meat bathed in it on a very low simmer. With the wine, this dish sang trills like a German opera. Stunned and amazed. Dessert: A warm orisini chocolate souffle with varieties of apple cooked in Bavarian liqueur with a side of almond ice cream capped the surprising meal that turned my expectations sideways........content, full, happy. I tried the 3 course meal prix fixe, pricewise (fair) and understand why Weinbar Rutz has a Michelin. The wine pairings surprised me. Amazing. The dishes are evolved, well presented, well developed. When returning to Berlin, I will SOO be back to try the upper restaurant. One less star, I received too many stares from the staff for taking fotos. It was dark in the room, no flash. The dishes melded from one to the other, elegant. Genius German wines!! Tip: Reserve a table. Walk-ins not accepted. I think I got lucky because I looked hungry :) Visits: 1

Cool wine bar with an extensive German wine list. Staff were friendly, helpful and fun, especially Alex. I'd recommend calling ahead. Didn't try any food here so can't comment on that.

This is a really top shelf wine bar! We absolutely loved the place. Fantastic wine selection and some beer too. If your looking for a good steak this place has them as well. Not a big dinner menu, could use a few more appetizers on the menu. We will definitely be back.

Having never been to the restaurant before, we were surprised by dark curtains covering windows which made the interior look mysterious and sort of speakeasy. So of course, immediately, we decide our (private) nye theme will be inspired by spy culture. So two top secret spies (east and west) enter the restaurant; our Trenchcoats (tis what spies wear) are promptly taken, but we keep our hats on .... and of course we have an amazing night. We're served champagne right away, generous and enough to get me tipsy right away. But even after skilled interrogation, I don't reveal any secrets except that I prefer white wine from Pfalz region. Each course is of course amazing, so we tear them apart finding the most obnoxious flaws like we were judges on Top Chef tv show. Me (East): this is NOT real butter served with 24 hours sourdough bread!!!!! Waitress: the butter is from France My husband (West): calf's brain...really...hell nouuuu...I mean, not seasoned enough At this point we're on our 2nd bottle of wine discussing global politics and maybe tad bit too loud. Our server doesn't judge us, just the opposite she is wonderful and even taking interest in us, which we immediately recognize as spying attempt: 1. Where are u from, what brings u to Berlin, and where are you going next Skillfully we avoid giving her any real information, we lick our desert plates, and run off into the night to our next adventure. Loved: pearl onion dish and fermented pineapple dessert Pass: sourdough bread and gazpacho EUR 150 for 9 courses and a glass of champagne.
