Small interior offering 4 tables and a line up of bar stools. The kitchen and pantry are fully exposed. We were greeted by a gent opening the door for us and friendly hellos! The menu provides a wide selection of country fair with twists on cosmopolitan selections (the country bennie is a must). No pre-cut fries on site,! Everything looked and tastes freshly prepared. Will definitely make the trek again!

1836 Café in Bells, TX is a true hidden gem and worth every stop. From the moment I walked up to…read morethe door, the smell alone let me know I was in for something special. Inside, the atmosphere is small-town comfort at its best -- casual, welcoming, and the kind of place that instantly makes you feel at home. I ordered the Chicken Bennie, and it was absolutely outstanding. A homemade biscuit served as the base, soft and fluffy on the inside with just the right touch of crisp on the outside. On top of that came perfectly fried chicken tenders, a runny egg that tied everything together, and a generous pour of rich, savory sausage gravy. It all came with a side of crispy fried potatoes that were cooked just right -- golden and flavorful without being greasy. Every bite was pure comfort food perfection. The coffee was smooth and satisfying, the kind that pairs perfectly with a hearty breakfast. Service was excellent as well -- friendly, attentive, and genuinely kind, which made the whole experience even better. You can tell the staff really cares about their customers and their food. Overall, 1836 Café is exactly what you hope to find in a small-town spot: great food, great people, and an atmosphere that keeps you wanting to come back. I'll definitely be returning, and I highly recommend it to anyone passing through or nearby.

We had thought about going here a few times previously, but it had always been on days they were not open. We should have persisted because the food was very good, and the service was top notch. The Beef Wellington was better than what I've had at Gordon Ramsey's if that puts it into perspective. I had the Wagyu Bavette, which was good, but I also have some high expectations for that cut. A restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale called YOLO tops the list for me with that cut. That's not to say this was not good because it absolutely was. Great prep, great presentation; and our waitress Kye was the BEST! She was so knowledgeable about each dish, the specials, and took a lot of pride in making sure we had a great experience. 10/10 would recommend. Be sure to make a reservation though--we did just as a formality, and the restaurant was full on a Tuesday.

My last dinner was a Saturday night , there was a community event that day which added to the crowd and wait. Any issue we had with our wait was heard and appreciated by staff and their service has been very good. Get your steaks Burnt, it's worth it! The menu is great across the board, appetizers, salads, proteins and sides are all very good!
