I used to love Cora's, but after being horrendously disappointed the last two times there, I think it's time we separate for good. Last time it was an issue with everything being raw; eggs were way undercooked, I mean, I like a good runny egg, but when it's still clear and slimy, that's a nope from me. This time I ordered delivery and everything was burnt black, sausages and potatoes were burnt to the point you couldn't eat them. Also, my hangover was so disappointed that my "Breakfast Poutine", was missing both the cheese and hollandaise. How rude. For the price point it doesn't make sense to go to a mediocre chain when there are so many cheaper better options in Halifax. read more

I never usually get up early enough to have a good breakfast, especially on a weekday. That being said, I'm glad I got up a bit earlier so I could try Cora's before heading off to work. They open at 6AM on weekdays and I got there at about maybe 6:40. I was the only customer there as expected, because no one but me is actually dumb enough to go out that early just for breakfast. I ended up getting the burrito crepe because I love burritos. It ended up being too much food for my unprepared, breakfast-skipping stomach, but it was pretty good. The burrito itself was filled with tasty stuffing, it was comparable, but not quite as good as something you would get from Seven Bays Bouldering or Dee Dees. It also came with roasted potatoes which thankfully were not over or under cooked like some of the other reviewers have mentioned. The server was very friendly and filled up my coffee multiple times. Because I was the first one there, and it was early on a weekday, I can't really comment on how the service normally is, but it's good when the restaurant is dead at least. Anyway, I think I really like this place and will likely be back, because getting breakfast really does make a shitty work morning better. This Place has a very interesting atmosphere , light and very kid friendly . The menu is long with an abundance of options , most of which cater to Bread and pancake options .There was a wait time to sit down,(which was about 20minutes) After that the service was speedy and friendly. We ordered The Western ( a western omlete on a buckwheat crepe) and the rosemary dish ( eggs, bacon, potatoes, fruits , 2 blueberry pancakes) After my meal arrived I found their potatoes and eggs very overdone and the hollandaise sauce wasn't very good. (Separating, and not very creamy.) But they excelled at making quality pancakes and crepes. We got black coffee, as well as a Moccachino "cup" the Moccachino was good, but a bit small for the price. Coffee was good, but very strong. Our meal with tip,came to about $45.00. We may go again of we're in the mood for piles of sweet pancakes and fruit, but the egg dishes were a bit lacking. read more

Boyfriend and I went in here earlier today to have some breakfast. The service was quick, and we didn't wait long for our food to arrive. He loved the breakfast burritos. Definitely a good choice. I chose the breakfast burger. I would not recommend this, as it was bland, and the potato wedges were barely cooked in certain parts, and burned on others. Why do I keep going back here? I went to Cora's yesterday, hungover and ready to enjoy deliciousness. The bf got a giftcard for Christmas so it seemed like a good choice. I ordered a western omelette and he ordered an omelette panini. We both had orange juice and we shared a side of sausage. Did you know that they charge 3.45 for an orange juice? For a GLASS OF ORANGE JUICE?! I prefer a place where I can get an entire breakfast for 3.45. Jeepers. The omelette was overcooked and the piece of pepper were way too huge. I like diced, not julienned in my eggs. The sausage was the best part of the meal. We paid close to 40 bucks for breakfast for two and tip.. so wrong. SO WRONG. Also, so not worth it. Cora's mixes luxury into its well rounded menu, making this a spot to enjoy both delicious and nutritious. The fruit plates are made for marveling. Composed of heaping proportions of varied freshness, plates come as an eyeful and provide an inventive way to munch! Waffles, crepes, pancakes and omelettes are also of sizable selections. With chocolate and strawberry crepes to a straight up eggs and bacon taste, the spectrum covers much ground. However I do find Cora's can sometimes put style over substance. For example, my own experience with the fruit topped waffle dish. It was a beautiful sight, but as I broke past the whip cream and berries, I noticed the waffle to be quite soggy and bland. The attention to esthetic can dominate over the quality of ones eating experience. Hmm... The stiff prices are also a downfall- you really have to pay the extra doh for these decadent fixings of food. Is it worth it? Some say so, others may prefer a nice breakfast elsewhere. The food is by no means one-of-a-kind, but a crisp venue with neat presentation and a broad menu. None the less, Cora's is a nice place to grab a bite and offers some pretty healthy options. If you're ever in Canada and find yourself in the vicinity of a Cora's Breakfast & Lunch Cafe, run - don't walk - towards it. A better breakfast will not be had, anywhere. Cora's is a sunny, happy, friendly place that specializes in preparing super fresh and artistically plated breakfast and lunch plates. Every plate comes out looking like a small work of edible art. Fruit usually takes up a good half of the plate. Usually, that will include fresh pineapple, mango, berries of all kinds, kiwi, apple, pear, and banana. This fruit is the complement to every plate that emerges from Cora's kitchen, whether your meal is sweet or savory. We especially enjoyed Cora's zucchini bread french toast, the yogurt harvest crunch parfait, and buckwheat blessing crepes. The single, biggest complaint for most customers at a diner is usually the atrocious quality of the coffee that is forced upon them. Not at Cora's. Here, you can get strong, fresh drip coffee in addition to many, many varieties of espresso drinks. We were floored by the low price we paid for a truly scrumptious brunch at Cora's. I can't wait for the opportunity to visit a Cora's Cafe next time I'm up visiting the Eh Team in the Land Up Yonder. We've been to Cora's quite a few times since moving to Halifax - actually we've probably been here more times than any other restaurant! I think it's because our family visits and it's a more exciting place to take them than Smittys! (There's Smittys back in Regina, but no Cora's!) I have to agree with many of the reviews on Yelp than say it's good! It's not great, but it's definitely good. Quite pricey for what it is - breakfast. But hey, you'll never leave hungry! There's tons of food on the plate and it is presented in a unique way (unique the first time you go anyways). I like that there is lots of choice on the menu and that, for the most part, you get to mix salty and sweet. That's my beef with many breakfast places - I want syrup drizzled pancakes, fruit, bacon AND salty potatoes! Otherwise it's way too hard to pick haha! I find the crepes are hit or miss. They can be tender and tasty, or rubbery and tasteless - only if you get them on their own anyways, it's always a good call to wrap something in a crepe. Well, it's been said! It's always a good choice to take your visiting family for a hearty brunchfast! I am a breakfast buff, I love breakfast and would enjoy it any time of the day. I like to try different places for my beloved fave meal, offen times at local restaurants and often times elsewhere. That being said, Cora's has never dissapointed my craving for a delicious breakfast. Cora's menu is very large with many different things to choose, from: pancakes to waffles to Eggs Benny to different skillets. Oh, I can't forget their utterly delicious crepes - to die for. Many meals can be accompanied by either the most tasteful hashbrowns seasoned to perfection or a variety of fresh fruit. You can enjoy a weekend breakfast at Cora's for any occasion; visiting family, something to celebrate or you're just looking for that fantabulous breakfast to get you kick started after a night of.. over-indulging somewhere (in something) else...Just make sure you have a little time to spare as you will wait in line for a while. The Clayton Park Cora's was lined up out the door when we dropped in late one Saturday morning. It was good, then, when they dropped by with a bowl of banana slices to hold my toddler over until the food came. He was delighted with crayons and place mats while we waited and in heaven with the plate full of fruit he cadged from his parent's plates. My husband was satisfied, if underwhelmed, with his Western Omlette, and I feel sort of likewise about the Buckwheat Bonanza. Maybe it was the sausage I found a little lacklustre... but then, perhaps I just wanted a dish where I could taste more of the buckwheat. No matter. The food was fast, fresh, hot and filling. And the fruit, as I've mentioned, was a highlight for all of us. We accidentally forgot the wee guy's half-smoothie on the table, only realizing when they had it cleared, and they were kind enough to whip us up another. A few years ago, I ate at Cora's often because I'm a huge fan of brunch and I didn't really feel like I had a lot of other options when it came to breakfast food. Now, I really only eat at Cora's when a friend requests that we meet there. I'm constantly disappointed with my meals at this location. I find the potatoes are either undercooked, or burnt. I like the fact that they have so much fresh fruit with their meals, but it's rarely ripe. In general, I always feel like my meal is missing something (seasoning/flavour?). I've never finished a dish. Despite the lackluster food, the staff at this location are always very friendly and willing to make accomodations for customers. read more

The last time I went food was extremely cold and the waitress was not impressed to have to take it back, which to me is very rude. She can't expect someone to pay that much for cold food. You can't really go wrong with Cora's - I have eaten at several locations, including Dartmouth, Montreal and this one, and have always had a good experience at each. Not AWESOME but good. The food always tastes good, looks good and the portions are good for the price. I absolutely love eggs benedict so I tend to be boring and get that here 90% of the time, but it is really good. I love the mountain of fresh fruit you get with every (well pretty much every) order - it adds at least a tad more nutritional value to the hollandaise sauce volcano, bacon pile and starchy french toast - plus I am fascinated as to how they get the apples shaped into those tall fern-like sculptures! I hate to eat it and ruin the artistry! The server we had on our most recent visit was really nice and attentive so she gets full points from me (wish I could remember her name - ugh! *I'm a horrid person*). I will say get here before 10am on the weekend because otherwise you will be standing in line, potentially for a while. If I come here and there is a huge line, I won't stay. It's a pretty good place but not worth a 40 minute stand-fest. I will also say the coffee has never been anything to write home about - although last time I had a cappuccino and it wasn't bad. I would personally stick to the smoothies and other fruit drinks, as that is more what they are known for and they are therefore, generally, better quality. I like this Cora's the best out of the local options. It's clean and the recent renovations helped brighten up the spot even more. Based on my recent visit, I would give 5 stars for our super-yummy meals, excellent service AND we came at a busy time and because we did not mind waiting and because we were a party of two only - we got in, served and out in good time (we really lucked out that the line scared off a party of two who walked in ahead of us and quickly left). We also had a great deal because we had free fruit cocktails each from coupons we found around town. In reading other reviews, I saw the Tip about the Yelp! check-in... I'll have to remember that next time because after this last experience I am definitely coming back here (before this time, I was never a fan of Cora's and would only go when invited with a group). I read someone else's post about the potatoes. This location has the best version of Cora's potatoes - they actually cook them. Every other Cora's I've been too have had the burnt/uncooked - I guess that's how Cora likes 'em . So I am happy with the food at this place - by the way, I ordered the classic eggs Benny and it was awesome (drool). And hubby got Cinnamon brioche (sorry I forgot the name) but he was talking about it the other day and he wants more. When we were eating he was wondering how he has never ordered this before? It's his fave now. Ok, enough words. I have 4 stars for now just based on my overall experiences with this location under the new ownership. I was glad to see it hopping and I was super happy with our last visit - I was worried it wouldn't make it... History: I used to come here a lot with my networking group but we had to move because after the renovations and change of ownership it wasn't the same and the price went up (not the fault of the new owners, I think the last owner was really, really nice to us). Been here a couple times. The fruit items are quite good and they quite possibly have the best waffles in the city. Now this is where it gets tricky. I don't like eggs but came here as part of a group on my few visits. Unlike other breakfast restaurants they refuse to substitute eggs for any other protein (sausage or bacon), or even French toast (egg based bread, come on). Food was good (as expected). Similar to others, the amount of fruit seems to vary. Service, quite frankly, stunk on my visit. Before being seated one waitress was openly rude and condescending to the hostess taking names, and then proceeded to have other unpleasant things to say to go along with her resting face expression of general disgust. We were seated at the table which is in the other side of the entrance. Our first waitress was attentive but she handed us off to another waiter and after taking our order we didn't see him again for 45 minutes. No coffee refresh or check-ins, nothing. Each Cora's location is different, and this one is my favorite. The staff are friendly and the menu is huge. If you're looking for somewhere to eat in the Park West Mall on Lacewood, Cora's is definitely one of the best options. They're also very active on Twitter, which I appreciate. You can occasionally score a free smoothie or something thanks to a Twitter promotion, and it's great to see social media being used that way. read more

Man oh man, how can you go wrong with a stop at Cora's? any Cora's The food is phenomenal. Always fresh, always good, and just downright delectable. My go to breakfast/lunch meal is the Banana Blast - loads of bananas, chocolate hazelnut spread wrapped up in the perfect crepe and topped with whipped cream. Almost a five. This particular Cora's was so close to being a five out of five it was ridiculous. However, their Wait Staff need a bit more training before I feel it could get a five star rating. Don't get me wrong. The staff are amazing and why I feel this place deserves four stars. But there is still room for improvement. I went to Cora's with a friend of mine the other day. The food was the same as it is in other Cora's which is important. If you are a "chain" I must see consistency. The staff were friendly but had forgotten to ask us questions like, "would you like water?" They simply did whatever we asked but never went above and beyond by asking us questions. However they did go above and beyond when it came time to settle the bill. My friend didn't like her smoothie at all and it was obvious that she barely touched it. The friendly Waitress noticed right away, asked her if she didn't like it, then returned a second later with a new bill and the smoothie taken off! Now that is service. We didn't even have to suggest not paying for it. The Waitress deserves her own star for that one. Cora's is mainly known as a breakfast, Crepes and fruit restaurant. Generally it is very healthy and the staff are pretty good. This particular Cora's shined thanks to one Waitress. However I still feel that there is room for growth when staff don't ask for water or when our smoothies taste...just bad. But in general Cora's is a great restaurant and I feel more than confident on returning to this one in Lacewood. In fact I can't wait to try some more of their delicious Crepes! read more

We usually eat here when we want a special treat. I've eaten at the Burnside location and the Dresden Row locations as well, but this one is closest to home now. I find Cora's can be somewhat hit and miss, but such is any chain restaurant. I always get the fruit waffle, and I love the custard on it. I find they don't put as much custard on it here as they do the other locations, but you can always ask for more on the side if there's not enough. I find it's best to go when it's not during the busy times because you are more likely to get better food. Don't get me wrong, it's always "good" but sometimes it's amazing! The last time we went, I thought I should mention we had really good service. I asked for no cantaloupe on my waffle (yuck) and the waiter had the thoughtfulness enough to ask to make sure it wasn't an allergy, which most places don't when you ask that something is left off. Also, we had a promo card for $10 that had expired and we asked if we could still use it (you never know, right?) no, we couldn't but the lady gave us $5 off which was more than we had hoped for! read more

Well I do like cora's and one of the main reasons is all the fresh fruit that one usually gets there. This time I was in the mood for pancakes, so I order up some blueberry pancakes. you get about 3-4 for about 12 bucks but I was horrifically disappointed when I got my order and the blueberries in the pancakes are frozen with that wonderful frozen taste. But I am hungry so I suck it up and start into them, they were ok, nothing special they came with English cream on top and there could not have been more then a few tablespoon fulls. and when I am 1/4 the way in what I do get but a big old nasty hair stuck between the stacks :(. This Cora's is consistent with all the others...pretty friendly service, a country-style family restaurant, giant breakfast and brunch menu, and good food (especially its plate presentation where the fruit is sliced in a fun way). Over the years, I've been here several times and usually try to get something different each time. Lots of tables and booths, and I guess it holds possibly 100 people, but expect line-ups on the weekend. (and DEFINITELY expect line-ups on Mother's Day...which I'm sure is their busiest day of the year). On my most recent visit, I had the western skillet minus the meat, and it was good. The vegetables weren't sauteed (or at least not sauteed for very long), which I don't like, but once mixed with the eggs and hashbrown, it was fine. I added an extra order of hollandaise on the side to mix in with it, a favorite of mine. The Kale Smoothie Bowl of kale-mango smoothie with harvest crunch,* bananas, strawberries, chia and coconut was very good. There were some loud children near my table, which took away from the relaxing experience, but I find that's to be expected at restaurants like this, to a degree. Every Sunday a friend and I frequent for breakfast and chats- and are never disappointed. The servers are friendly, service is prompt, and coffee flows freely. I eat gluten/dairy free and have a decent selection of choices compared to other places. Sometimes it smells like burnt toast when we walk in, but out nose quickly accepts the smell and we are good to go. read more

I can't say this is the best Cora's I've been to, because I have had much better, but I think is pretty decent. I don't know if it's just me, but some things on the menu are a little pricey. On the flip side the customer service is amazing, they try to make sure your satisfied, if your not, they try their darnedest to make it happen. Been here a few times... And to many other Cora's breakfast restaurants. It's always... Inconsistent in portion quality and value. Sometimes you get lots of fresh fruit. Other times you get the not so fresh fruit. The value is there when the fruit and portions are great. But when it's not what you expected the last time you had a "great" experience at Cora's... Went to Cora's today for breakfast and it was super busy. Wait to be seated wasn't too long and ordering wasn't that long of a wait but to actually get the food was the longest wait ever. But have to say that the food was amazing as always and also because they felt bad for making me and the fiancé wait so long they gave us 10.00$ off which was awesome.
