Usually excellant Diner. Very Bad expierence today (Sunday 8/26/18) Waitress (Margaret) took order. 2 eggs, swiss cheese, Canadian bacon on a roll, and homefries. Did not find out the cost up front. She claimed (with a seriously bad attitude) it was a custom ordered sandwich. Took a bite and instantly noticed something was not right. Yellow american cheese instead of swiss cheese, regular bacon instead of Canadian bacon. When I informed her of this she said you already took a bite so you will have to eat it. No offer to replace it with what I had ordered. Just drove back from Lake George and was too tired to argue. When bill came it was for $8.70 for eggs and canadian bacon, .75 cents for the roll and $2.75 delux (home fries) Total came to $12.20 Here is where it gets even weirder. When argueing my case to the manager up front , he did not even want to hear about it. I guess they care more about the wait persons then the customers. I have gone to this usually excellant diner for over 10 years. It's incredible that no one there in a management position would intervene in this. My daughter is a vegetarian so we specifically went to this diner so she could have a salad with their delicious, creamy, homemade Greek dressing. Surprisingly, their garden salad for 9.99 only came with tomatoes and onions. Our server seemed annoyed when I brought this to her attention, and assured me there were no garden salads with more vegetables available. I asked to speak to a manager. A young man came over (the owner's son), and when I brought this to his attention and explained that my daughter is a vegetarian, and that this salad would be her dinner, he was extremely rude, and basically said, "You're out of luck. This is how it comes and if you don't like it you can go somewhere else". Before I knew it, we were arguing! About adding vegetables to a salad, in a diner! I couldn't believe it! I would have been happy to pay extra to add vegetables, but no options were offered to me. I told him I really didn't think he cared at all about his father's business because he was going to lose us as customers. He didn't care at all. We got up and went to the Seaport Diner where my daughter got an amazing garden salad, with 8 added vegetables for 11.99! I called the next day to speak to the owner. I told him what transpired the night before, and that his son was very rude, and not willing to work with me at all. The owner was just as rude as his son! He didn't care about his business either! truly abyssmal,i use to go there years ago and use to enjoy it,not anymore,i recently took my son there for lunch,the waitress (maria)) was horrrible devoid of any ability to smile or to get the order correct,i ordered the chicken marsala and my son ordered the chicken cold salad platter,the chicken marsala was very small,the sauce was pure salt and the chicken was tough,the spinach and rice was disgusting! my sons platter came with the not expected hair in it,need i say more!!!! what i found amusing was that there was a pretty young lady sitting at the counter,who was talking to the owner,suggesting that they get new signage,to improve business,maybe they should concentrate on running a better restaurant,cleaner,with a properly courteous staff.with all the choices i have ,i can guarantee,we will not be back,neither should you!!!!! read more

Your typical Ghetto diner. Went there the day after hurricane , noticed no weekday lunch specials although it was a tuesday. Bill was incorrect, kid never got her dessert, refills of coffee were scarce at best. Food was fair at best. Parking lot is an accident waiting to happen I am sure a few Benjamins changed hands when the town of brookhaven rubber stamped that one. The owner or manager was a real class act when I showed him the problems with the bill befuddled look on his face and all . We live less than 1 mile away from this diner & now choose to drive 20mins to The Lake Grove Diner instead because of how bad the Coram Diner is. We've given it a few tries & every time, there's a problem. One evening, a young man is arguing & getting a bit physical & loud with a waitress. I ask her if she is ok & her response was "Yeah, that's my son." Then our waiter comes over to us & says "Enjoying the show? Happens all the time." How is this remotely professional?!! Another time, we hear a waitress & Manager bad mouthing a customer that just walked out that they kindly said goodbye to. The same waitress manages to mess up our order every time. Another time there was a hair in the food. I ordered something that came with dessert. She suggested the banana cream pie. I took it to-go & when I tried to eat it later, it was bad. Bad like having been uncovered & exposed to the elements for too long. I had to throw it away. Here's the thing: if you're going there in the am for breakfast, probably won't have a problem. But, if it's lunch or dinner, please don't waste your time & money. We did too many times & now refuse to go back there. This place was horrible. The food was okay, but the staff were absolutely disgusting. Upon entering, there weren't many other people there and my friends and I were noticed by the hostess, but she decided we could wait until she was done telling some personal story to someone. Once we were seated, the waiter asked if we knew what we wanted before we even had a chance to open our menus and when we asked for a few minutes, he got an attitude and said that we better hurry because they were closing soon and he wanted to go home. Okay. He didn't bring one of our drinks, the food was under cooked because it was so rushed, we asked three times for him to bring the items he had forgot and for some butter, each time he said okay, but never brought it. We just gave up. When he came over and we were about to ask for our items for a fourth time, he put our check on the table, once again stating that he had to leave. He was so concerned with not helping us and going home, that he couldn't seem to accomplish anything correctly. And then he awkwardly hovered around our table waiting for a tip. I just had the worst dinig experience of my life at Coram Diner. I wished I had read the reviews on here before I went and saved myself the trouble. I stopped off on the way home from the doctor to get a gyro. When I got home and saw what they gave me I was shocked byhow awful it was. The "gyro"meat was mushy and tasted like cat food. I'm not even kidding... I had to spit it out. When I called to tell them about it, the counter girl Michelle was so incredibly rude and would do nothing to fix it. I have never been treated so badly by any business in my life! I feel so taken advantage of. I used to come here all the time when I was a little girl. I would pray all the time for my parents to agree to come here for dinner. My family has been loyal customers for 30 years. However, in the last few years, customer service has gone down hill and the quality of food has gone from the best to the worst (inedible!). Most of their food (if not all) is frozen but that's not the worst part...I've ordered the sea-kebob many times over the years and everytime I get it there is little to no seafood and the scallops were dark in color, had a foul odor to them with an even more disgusting taste and they were so hard I'm sure I could've bounced them across the diner. It was as if they found these years old scallops in the corner of the freezer and served them to me. Additionally, everytime I've gone to the diner these last few times, I've always had the same waiter. He's nice but he doesn't seem to know how to be an appropriate waiter and gets a little too close to my personal space. The coram diner is a great memory for me and my family but sadly, we will never step in that diner again unless it gets revamped. read more

We used to come here semi frequently. Nothing special but decent and close. We ordered out the week before Christmas and my husbands food was not edible. I called the diner and asked to speak with a manager. They asked what was wrong. I explained my husbands veal park was so rubbery it could not even be cut. It was snowing and icy out. I had picked up food there on the way home from work. We live two min from the diner. They said "well what do you want us to do about it". I was surprised by this statement. Then they sad well we aren't going to do anything unless you bring it back. Then we will make you a new one". I explained it was horrible out and I really did not want to go back out. I offered to take a picture and sent it to them. I also offered to take a picture of it in the garbage since they stated how could they tell that we didn't eat it. They were rude and nasty. Accused us of lying. All they had to do was say they were sorry and maybe even offer to take care if it next time we came in. But no. I was so annoyed I got back in my car and went and brought it back. I then witnessed the staff argue over which chef made it and tell me they were making another one. I said absolutely not. I want my money back. They were horribly rude and I informed them we would not be returning. They said they don't care. This is not the first time we have witnessed the staff be rude however this is the first time it has occurred with us. We won't be back. read more
