The sugar free chocolate tastes very sweet. It says 0g sugar on the ingredients list. I have several friends tried that, they all thought it was very sweet. We have sugar free chocolate bars from other brands, which tastes much better. In addition, the quality of chocolate is not high. The price is not expensive. Overall, you get what you paid for. Yesterday I picked up a 2 oz. package of their salted caramels at the little Colusa Market when I was buying produce. It was at the checkout counter and I couldn't resist its dark chocolate allure. I didn't notice how much the package cost. It contained two bars, 81% chocolate, vegan, organic and sustainably sourced, the cacao Fair Traded. Each bar was 150 calories. I had one bar yesterday and the other today. They were delicious, a wonderful, relatively healthy indulgence. THE BEST RAW CHOCOLATE EVER! I tried them at Om Shan Tea in San Francisco and fell in love. I had the blonde bar, which has the crunch and taste of a rice krispy treat but way better! It's not too sweet. It has a coconut taste and it's made with lecuma (which is a fruit). One side is dipped in a delicious dark chocolate. I've also had their Mayan Spice Truffle and WOW... what a kick you get from the spiciness. I just love how the spicy and chocolatey taste mixes so well together. One bite and you get a burst of flavors melting in your mouth. They are also sold at Whole Foods, so I am able to easily purchase them when I crave them. At Whole Foods, you get two for $4.00. I think it's worth it because one bite goes a long way because it's rich, delicate, and delicious! read more

There's a nice variety offered, but, unlike those from the other companies, these don't particularly taste like chocolates, or good. I discovered Coracao at the Berkeley Farmer's Market. My attention was caught by a delightful looking Mayan Spice truffle. What I ended up with was a trifecta of yum! The salesman at the booth was very friendly and informative. I love that the business model is built around quality raw ingredients to produce artisanal chocolates that are locally made and enjoyable for all. I found them to be a bit pricey, but that is fair seeing that the chocolates are so rich that you don't need much to give you that satisfied, happy feeling chocolate can provide at just the moment you need it. I ended up not LOVING the Mayan Spice Truffle, but I did like the other items I tried-- I must note too that they get an extra star for the beautiful presentation on each piece. read more

My boyfriend and I came across this stand at the Berkeley Farmer's Market. We were intrigued by the fact that it was higher-end chocolate, made with care. I could personally care less if it's raw or vegan, but when things are well made, they are well made. The person working there offerend a sample of the Blondie Bar. Since I'm a sucker for coconut anything, so of course I had to say yes. The thing was tasty and we learned they make all their chocolates in Emeryville, so it's nice that it's also a local brand for us. My boyfriend looooves chocolate milk, but being of Asian descent, it doesn't always work well with the digestive system, so we also sampled the cashew Mayan chocolate milk, which is sort of mexican spiced chocolate milk. Definitely picked up one of those to take home because it was delicious. We ended up spending $23 total: $4 Blondie Bar $10 Rawalmond Filled Chcolate Bar $3 Truffle (way too expensive if you ask me) $6 Mayan chocolate milk and the guy threw in a free caramel chocolate. They do take credit cards and I feel like it was a little bit too expensive, but it's well worth a try and I do appreciate what they're trying to do! read more

They show up at the Berkeley Farmers' market and sell this "mylk" made from cashew cream and very dark raw vegany chocolate. The shopgirl told me that folks will buy a bottle and drink it while roaming the market. The stuff is so hardcore, I have to sip it from a diminutive espresso cup at home over the course of 15 minutes or so, because something so good should not be chugged while roaming around in a crowd or any other distraction for that matter. The stuff's a bit expensive, but I go through 2.5 small bottles a week, which, overall is not too expensive for something that puts me in a transcendant state. They will get a fifth star when they open a shop that I can go to any time. (I do know they tried to get the Hooper's space and it is a tragedy that they did not.) Anyway go buy their stuff, but leave two bottles of the dark chocolate "mylk" for me. I love their product and the shopgirls are very sweet and polite. read more

It's shameful to write that I care not a bit whether my chocolate is vegan, raw, fair trade (well, maybe I care just a little), sugar-free, conscientious, local, or whatever else it may proudly boast, but the only reason i stopped here was because the farmer's market sign read "Superfood!" and "Sugar-free!" both of which are key words that my mom latches onto, being simultaneously diabetic & addicted to sweets. So i stopped by for a quick looksee, and the guy at the booth was a cherub, (considering i looked like a windblown, unkempt hobo trudging home from class with multiple bags slung hither o'er my shoulder) answering all my questions, informing me of Coracao's philosophy and vision, letting me sample the "babybar" dark chocolate & coconut sugar. Both of which, by the way, were so divine that i finally understood the context behind the idea of "divine enthusiasm" as it was experienced throughout history. The taste (and the densely rich & smooth mouthfeel) reverberated in my mouth- even warmed me a little from the icy walk home. It left echoes of delicousness long after I'd bought my treats and made me so happy & chipper that I felt like eating healthily for the rest of the day. (Superfood takes on meaning.) I was entranced into buying 3 truffles for my mother and three for myself. (The last truffle was thrown in free- apparently, I hit their spending mark for a free gift! Yay.) The raw fudge truffle & matcha green tea truffle both melted slowly & intricately in my mouth. I had to roll them around to find the subtle sweetness behind the raw cacao and matcha powder, but it was so worth the slow ritualism. It's definitely not a chocolate you'd need seconds of. In fact, I'd say it's the perfect chocolate to share with another. I still have one more Mayan spice truffle waiting for me in the dark cool of my cabinet, and I'm saving it for a good day. Bottom Line: So, so ridiculously good. One bite totally satiates your chocolate cravings for the day. I don't know if I've better loved a chocolate, vegan or not. read more

Went out of my way to stop by the Berkeley farmers market to try some dairy free, gluten free and soy free chocolate for my birthday. The restrictive diet I'm on makes it so hard to have treats, but this chocolate was super awesome. My favorite was the caramel bar and actually the sugar free chocolate bar. I found that I like their bars more than the truffles and pieces they sold, but no complaints here on anything. The caramel bar has around 22grams of sugar still, but is made with coconut sugar and is low glycemic. I probably would buy a few of the sugar free bars to take home for the future. Delicious raw, dairy free/ vegan, gluten free, and low GI chocolate that is worth the pretty penny they charge. I love the booth at the Berkeley Farmer's Market on Tuesdays (near Sweet Adeline's bakeshop - which is NOT raw, dairy free, or gluten free, but delicious too). The dark, pure cacao makes conventional dairy-based chocolate taste cheap and over-processed by comparison. My favorites are the blondie ($4.50), "Butterscotch cookie dough flavored macaroon dipped in 81% dark chocolate," and the $1.25 Rolo-sized caramel cup (filled with whipped cashew butter; soy free). It's a bit pricey but the satisfying flavor is so worth it. read more

This is the worst chocolate I have ever tried. The chocolate itself tastes like it has sawdust in it and do do the fillings which are gritty. The truffles are dry as mud cakes. The price is out and the company is completely unaccountable. They refuse to refund saying, "if they refunded everyone they would go bankrupt"... I'm a huge raw chocolate connoisseur and nobody comes close to equaling the decadance of these. Most raw chocolates are pretty uninspired, just nice smooth chocolates with berries or something, but these guys are obviously chefs!
