I come to Copy Max mostly to fax paperwork from Chicago to Arlington Heights Illinois. While discovering Copy Max via Yelp, I took notice that many reviews mentioned price, which prompted me to stop in, plus it was near my neighborhood. During my first visit, I noticed the many services that Kenny Kim offers at Copy Max, which ranges from faxing; computer repair; laminating; mailbox; business cards and a place to use the internet. As someone that has went to FedEx often, I noticed the cheaper price difference in a heartbeat between the two, which was a big difference. Copy Max trumps FedEx prices by being cheaper, and you will not have to deal with a long line of customers going to Copy Max. I not only save with printing here, but with faxing as well! Copy Max charges $1.00 for your first sheet faxed then .75 for the next sheets needed to fax. As for printing, prints are .7 cents per page depending if its black & white or colored copies. Short and sweet review. After getting laid off from my office, needed to print copies of my resume. Went in and was able to for dirt cheap prices. Made 20 copies (1 page each) and cost with tax, $2.50, if I remember correctly. Excellent prices and service, nothing more and nothing less needs to be said. read more

Donation for a good cause was a cover to sell an item that was supposed to be returned for $30.00 more than I could have purchased it elsewhere.. Hustled by a store manager that I thought was super cool. Hustled...I found the same laminator on line for a lot less that the shelf price. Aand less than the pricee he quoted was a favor..My receipt was for a do action to a local school. Slick move Mr. STORE Manager...I won't be shopping here again. The fact that an internet/computer time rental place still exists anywhere on the northwest side of Chicago is worthy of some stars. The fact that I'm writing this review on my phone, about to get to work and sit on Microsoft Word all day, and will probably edit the review's placing in a list at the library makes pay-per-use computing pretty obsolete. I'm guessing the only people who still would use it on a regular basis are tourists. And how many of these are desperately looking for internet or to electronically crop a photo while shopping boutiques in Wicker Park? I mean, besides people like me who are totally addicted to computing regardless (and who don't really like boutiques). Make no mistake, this is *not* an internet cafe. You can't get coFFEE here but you can get coPIES (and rudimentary office supplies at cheaper prices than the Kinko's a few blocks away). What you can also get here is relatively slow internet and computer services (like the Office suite and photoshop) pretty much down to the minute. They charge $6.00 per hour. But they will break it down to five minute incriments. 15 minutes, for example, is $1.50. And you can do anything you want with the computer. I mean programwise. I'm sure there are certain activities that are frowned upon and they do expect you to wear pants at all times (sadly). But if there's a site that you don't want anyone to know about that you enjoy visiting, this might be the place to do it - not that I'd know. I swear they must have to clean these computers daily because they have to be swarming with viruses (virii for all the geeks who want to correct me) with what I'm guessing some users do. The Boring Store is right down the street but I have to guess this is the place where the real spy stuff goes down! Except on Sundays. If they were actually open on Sunday when the library is closed, they might earn a fourth star. As it is, they're not. But they definitely serve for file and photo cropping services in a pinch and I'm glad they're still around even if unnecessary to probably 90% of the population. read more

This is the *new* location for the photocopy shop which was formerly at 1573 N. Milwaukee Ave. I found it while walking to an event at the Elegant Mr. Gallery (@ 1355 N. Milwaukee). This surprised me. I thought it had summarily bitten the dust when its space was sold for a convenience store. This is the *best* non-chain photocopy shop in Chicago. Standard 8 1/2" * 11" B&W self-serve copies are still only 5¢. Any number of issues of "Incendiary Words" were duplicated at its former location. There is also Internet access available for $6.00 | hour. I duplicated flyers for a Monday night presentation of mine at Risqué Café here. It has a facsimile line at 773-252-8655. There are two entrances. One on Milwaukee Ave., and another on Paulina Ave. Transit options: It is one block northwest of the Division & Ashland Blue Line "L" station. I can't say enough good things about this place. This is the opposite of going into a fedex/kinko's type place where the people working have no idea what they are doing but charge you extra for their own incompetence. This place gets stuff DONE. After being left in a horrible spot when an online company forgot to ship memorial programs for a funeral I was left having to come up with something on my own in the 11th hour or risk possibly having nothing...which was not an option. This place is awesome - high quality prints done fast. Plus - honest prices...they do not rip you off here.The person working knew exactly what needed to be done and did it without any of the confusion or hassle I am so used to dealing with at other copy places. I will never go anywhere else again for print projects. NEVER. I wish I had come here sooner. I was out of here in 25 minutes and I swear I waited that long just waiting for someone to notice me the last time I was at a Kinko's. This is not just the best place in wicker park...it's the best copy place I've gone to in the whole Chicagoland area and I've been to a ton. This place is great! Cheapest copies I've found, easy to use, and helpful friendly staff. I love the charming, small-business feel to it. I also love that they have all the other tools I need there, like a paper cutter, long arm staplers, rubberbands to use for free, scissors, etc. If you have any questions about the machines, they're super helpful. 5 cent copies rule. read more

Extremely good price with quality prints and fast service, no need to go to a kinko's. The place doesn't catch your eye right away but you can tell the owner is very knowledgeable and he helped me improve my flyer print outs which I needed that day. Seems like a small family business. Keep in mind there's a pricing difference between having him design flyers and printing vs you giving him a finalized design to print. Regardless, extremely good pricing. I'd definitely come here for any print outs, copies, colored flyers, or even simple business cards. Seriously can't beat this pricing and quality prints. read more

Pretty cheap and pretty fast if you're needing something in a pinch that doesn't need to look too amazing. I was forced to print wedding invitations here to meet a crazy deadline and nothing else was open on a weekend. Also, in design school, I had so many nightmarish experiences with FedEx/Kinkos that I couldn't bear to go in that store again. So this was good for what it was at the time. read more

When I need a lot of copies, I definitely come here! It's cheap and fast. I had to do a very long reading and I figured I would just print it at my university's library in order to make it easier, but my library was going to charge an insane amount. Went here instead and paid about 1/3 of what the university wanted. read more

Hooray! Great prices, great service. Double side? No problem? I printed about 75 pages worth of different documents, articles, etc. and my total came to 9.47$. The nice guy working there helped me set up the printing and let me collate my documents with his stapler. I will definitely be back when I need to print something... having a reasonably priced place within reasonable distance from home keeps me from wasting money on a printer and ink, that will inevitably dry between prints b/c I so rarely need printed materials. I am a school teacher and I needed last minute bulk copying for a school event. Kinkos wanted to charge me about 377.30 plus the use of their computer to print a pdf but here I was charged only 37.00. Plus, it was fast, unlike Kinkos that makes me wait in a long line for horrible customer service. This place was a real life saver! All the prices are reasonable and better than the bigger companies. OfficeMax and Kinko's gave me an estimate of 7 hours to print 15 pages in color. I called Copy Max, emailed in my presentation, and then drove over. I usually really like places like this- no pretense, you come, do what you need, and you're out. It's got cheap copies, cheap computer rentals and cheap-ish office supplies. However, their printers leave something to be desired... Most of the time I'm there, at least one printer or copier is broken. And, snob that I am, there's only one mac. The printers are touch-n-go. Most days, it's awesome and well worth the cheap price. Other times, it literally takes 15/20 minutes to print 30 pages. I argued the guy down once because the copies left something to be desired. Bottom line? If you're in a rush or on a timeline, ask to borrow a friend's computer/printer. If you're not and you're patient, it's worth the price. read more

Very satisfied with my experience here. I've been looking for a photocopy shop that charges reasonable rates, and I'm so glad I found Copy Max. I had to make copies of a good chunk of a review book for an upcoming exam and the only place closest to me was a Staples and a FedEx/Kinkos, both of which charge an arm and a leg for using their copy machines. Just as stated from other reviews, Copy Max still charges $0.05 per page for 8.5" x 11" B&W (I believe you get charged $0.07 per page if they do the copying for you). It was actually pretty busy when I got there around lunch time, with people coming in and out for their own projects or for using the internet but as far as I could tell, all of us go the help that we needed without any hassle. The lady manning the front at the time got me set up with one of their copy machines, and that was pretty much it, with the exception of a few hiccups when the paper would get stuck during output. But it was no big deal, and the other guys working in the shop took it in stride and troubleshooted the problem in a jiffy (because they actually know how their machines work, not like in FedEx/Kinkos or Staples). I must have copied over 300 pages, but my total only came out to just under $17, including taxes. I would have had to pay double the amount for the same work if I went to any other place, for sure. For a comparison of prices (8.5" x 11" B&W): Copy Max charges $0.05 per page, FedEx/Kinkos charges $0.12 per page, Staples charges $0.11 per page, and Office Depot charges $0.10 per page. The Jewel across the street charges $0.15 per page. Your local Chicago Public Library is also an option, but I believe you have to pay $0.15 per copy. If coming by car, make sure to park on the streets around the shop and NOT in the Jewel parking lot--- there are warning signs both from Jewel and Copy Max about your car getting towed from their lot if you do that. There's ample Pay-to-Park street parking on Paulina and Milwaukee, so it shouldn't be an issue for those who want to drive. Otherwise, there's either the Milwaukee bus or the Blue Line down the street. read more

Highly recommended. I've had books of sheet music in PDF format made into a double sided spiral bound booklet. I only had to hand the gentleman a USB drive with the documents, briefly describe what I wanted and was in and out inside of 20 minutes.
