I was left in a difficult situation when they canceled my project the morning it was scheduled to begin. I was trying to get this project completed before the start of monsoon. Full details below for those interested. I hired Hood Arborist to remove a large dead mesquite tree, which was planned as a two-day project. On the first morning at 7:10 AM, I received an email stating: "We will be arriving a little later than anticipated due to some scheduling conflict with one of our contractors. Pedro will be arriving at 11 AM to begin working." When no one had arrived by 11:30 AM, I texted the provided contact number for an update. I received no response. Then, at 11:46 AM, I got another email saying: "Unfortunately, the scheduling conflict with our contractor on this project turns out to be them pulling out of the project completely. At this time, we are unable to provide the removal service. We are so sorry for the huge inconvenience this causes. Our company is just not equipped to handle higher-risk removals in house. Our sincerest apologies for wasting your time." No phone call. No text. Just an impersonal email canceling the entire job. When I called for clarification, I was told that Hood Arborist doesn't own the necessary equipment for large tree removals and relies on subcontractors. In my case, their only subcontractor pulled out at the last minute--and they had no backup plan. At no point during the contracting process was I told that subcontractors would be used or that the company was dependent on them to complete the job. This experience shows a lack of transparency, reliability, and basic customer service. Proceed with caution.

I hit them up on Instagram, they were super flexible with the timing to come out and give me an estimate. Pedro is super knowledgeable about tree health and does a great job describing exactly what work needs to be done and why. I really appreciated his input on how to plan for the future health of the tree and what I can do to help it thrive. My estimate was super reasonable, and they knocked out the work quickly, and hauled off all the debris. They even went the extra mile by removing a whole stump when I'd only asked to kill the roots! Then they started to slack a little and wouldn't show up for 2-3 weeks, they would make up excuses for why they didn't show up. They would never invoice. They replaced our irrigation but the new lines also seemed to be sprouting leaks like years' old lines. We were told that whatever warranty only applies to to a "certain amount of fixes" and that we would be responsible. They would also show up unannounced on random days and expect us to be home. I would not recommend this company at all. Their landscaping work was half decent but they would cut our trees down without really thinking about what they would look like and it sometimes felt like they didn't know what they were doing.

Instead of going back out to fix the problem, Juan decided to charge us $50 to stake the tree down. We agreed to this as we didn't want the tree to fail. His team went out to do the work and used a cheap wooden stake and didn't bother to trim the tree. With all the recent storms, any landscaper would know to be proactive. Within a day, the wooden stake broke and completely failed. Again, instead of going back out and fixing their failure, they refused to go back out to our home unless we paid more. They blamed the storm and the tree instead of their negligence. If the tree was trimmed properly, it wouldn't have failed. Mind you, we pay monthly for landscaping service and trust the work will be done. Juan clearly has no integrity. Whoever he uses to field messages and phone calls is extremely unprofessional as wI'm so disappointed with the way Juan and his team treated us after using them consistently for 2 years now. If he had any integrity, he would've trimmed the tree correctly the first time. And he would've fixed the issue with the wooden stake instead of leaving a broken piece of wood in the yard where there's small children.

I scheduled an appointment. They gave me a very reasonable quote that was a fraction of other peoples prices. In fact it was so good that our neighbor decided to use them on the spot as well. I've also passed their card to another person already. They've been wonderful so far and if they keep it up they will have me as a client for quite a long time :-).

They filled up an entire 8' wide * 12' long * 7' high towed trailer with all the branches, vines, leaves, grass and plant trimmings the cut and cleaned for us, and their price was very reasonable and affordable. In our opinion they work four time faster and cost half as much as other landscape maintenance companies, and we're quite pleased with the quality of their work!

She has also planted some ornamental plants that are actually growing. (She has also taught me a few things about gardening.)
