Early weekday dinner at Copper Steer Steakhouse. Have not been to this restaurant before. Looked for a hostess or server when walking into entrance. No one here? Walked to the BBQ pit and was advised to sit anywhere. One hard working server was there. We ordered a Mac and Cheese App with Gouda Cheese. It was tasty. Server steered us away from boneless wings unless you like chicken nuggets. Had the 14 Oz NY Strip with a side of brussel sprouts swimming in maple grilled syrup sauce, and a loaded baked potato. Jordan and Edward you were the best. Watching you two work like a well made Mac and cheese. You both are a great asset to this restaurant. We were excited to come here for a visit after seeing that this restaurant was on the restaurant impossible. All was great but the steak. Better steak, more seasoning. It was small for the price a very tough. It was wrapped in bacon and cooked perfectly but the knife couldn't saw through it very easy. Garlic Green beans with blistered tomatoes were good but you should really trim the ends, very tough. The loaded garlic mashed potatoes were the best and I did enjoy my wedge salad. Well we had family in town and we thought we would give this place another chance but did we make a mistake. The filet mignon looked the same as the small sirloin my daughter got which looked and tasted like a thin tough piece of beef jerky. When i said something about it the owner came over to the table and started to argue with me about it and said he was there on his day off ?!?! And was Incredibly rude. So after trying to make me feel bad about complaining finally he offered to have someone make me a new one. The second one came out good but for as much as that tiny piece of meat cost next time i'll stay home over picking this place ever again. A family business that is a bit of a mixed bag. Stopped there after a day of sightseeing. First thing that we noticed was a very young staff busing and waiting tables. I will admit that I was impressed how hard they were working. However, it took forever for us to get a table. Once we were seated it took a while for us to get our drinks. I suspect that this had to do with much of the staff being underage. It was an older lady who took our drink order. Mom's wine was fantastic, however, my manhattan was weak. We wanted to order the prime rib, but were told they ran out. I then requested the t-bone. They ran out of that of that also. We ended up ordering the 14 oz steak and the pork chop. Shortly thereafter we were served dinner roles that were out of this world! Warm and very tasty! However, the salad reminded us of grass clippings. The steak and pork chop were great. Saturday night visit. We sat at the upstairs bar and ordered drinks. The bartending was pretty divey and amateurish to say the least. I think a lot of restaurants are just putting servers behind the bar and expecting them to make drinks. Before ordering the wings we asked if they came with celery and we were told they did. Of course they came with no celery. They were not the worst wings, but nothing special. They were certainly not worth the $15. We were so disappointed in the cocktails and appetizer that we aborted the dinner to go somewhere else. Copper Steer feels more like a Roadhouse than a Steakhouse. Maybe the owner and cook should read the difference between these before charging and trying to pass off a charred grilled ribeye off for slow roasted prime rib, then arguing that 5 prime rib dinners were slow roasted prime rib when they clearly were grilled ribeye steaks. Yes same meat prepared differently. "Ribeye steak is the cut you'll slap on a hot grill and sear and char until it's done to your liking. This is for all your at-home steak nights and weekend cookouts, and it's so good, all Ree uses to season a ribeye is seasoned salt and lemon-pepper seasoning (oh, and plenty of butter). Ree's Prime Rib, meanwhile, is more of a special occasion recipe. This big, glorious cut roasts slowly in the oven and is easy to serve to a crowd in slices". read more

When driving through Arizona via Safford we make sure to stop and eat the Copper Steer Steakhouse. The service is great there's an ambiance of the old west. The food is excellent!!! I saw this place featured on Restaurant Impossible a couple weeks ago and, since our road trip brought us by, we had to stop! We started w jalapeño poppers and they were very tasty, not spicy at all. Wedge salad was good, some of the lettuce was a little tired. We split the trio - sirloin was seasoned well & flavorful; chicken was very dry but the raspberry chipotle sauce more than made up for it (they need to bottle that stuff!!); ribs were ah-mazimg fall-off-the-bone tender! They had way to much sweet bbq sauce on them for my taste, but I was able to scrape most off it off and really get down to the lightly smoky flavor - yum! I think they'd be better off serving them dry with choices for a dipping sauce or just stick with that raspberry sauce. Brussels sprouts & garlic mashed potatoes were tasty. Rolls were yummy. Our server, Janice, was nice. She noticed my husband's whiskey pour was a little weak and "fixed" it by bringing another small pour. It ended up being on the bill, which was weird but fair, I suppose. The service was good. The food was good. The ambiance was lacking. The room was lite too brightly. The dining room felt unfinished and empty. The Tri tip with the chimie churi sauce was tasty. The green beans were fresh. I had the rib eye, medium rare and the brussel sprouts. I enjoyed both. The steak was a little tough but it was nicely seasoned. The brussel sprouts were soft and did not have any of the bitterness brussel sprouts usually have. They were soft and sweet. They were almost too sweet. We had a dinner salad for an additional $2. My husband and I went here and service was amazing. The cook who cooked my steak I had to compliment in person it was the most flavorful thing I've ever tasted. (I'm pregnant and meat has been hard to eat! But not here!) My husband said the ribs were amazing and he would go here again and he's picky! Though it's a steakhouse all 6 of us chose the Barundi fish with two sides. It was light , Not fishy and delectable. We were all very happy campers ( literally). Absolutely delicious! I started with the grilled jumbo wings and had the Vaquero burger for my meal. They both had great flavor and I would definitely order them again. The french fries that accompanied the burger were crispy on the outside and soft on the in, just like they should be. I will be in Safford again in a month and will be back for sure. read more

My son and I went here for his 13th birthday which is a big deal in our household so this was a very special occasion. We just moved here and this seemed like the place to go for that. The restaurant itself is nice and the pit is cool. However I didn't feel like it was that busy and we had to wait over an hour for our food. The waitress was sweet and asked if we wanted his birthday cheesecake while we waited for dinner...but no happy birthday song or anything. Then we the food did come I was SO disappointed. The prime rib was the worst I've ever had. It looked like it had been cooked previously and the reheated by cooking it on both sides?!? Very strange and unappetizing. I've been here once before right after the remodeling of the restaurant and I had ordered the Alaskan salmon which was really great so I would definitely recommend that. I had visited the restaurant about 5 times before the remodel & I can say that the food has gotten better. The wait time on the other had hasn't really changed. I ordered the skirt steak which was AMAZING! The steak had really great flavor, I was pleasantly surprised. We just moved to Safford a couple of weeks ago and this is our first night out to a restaurant in town. We were both in the mood for BBQ brisket and boy howdy did they have it. It was so delicious. It has a very tangy sauce with a bit of a bite to it. The sides were as good as homemade. Our waitress Mandy was a sweetheart as was the young lady at the reception. Way to go. Copper Steer Steakhouse has become a regular stop for us when in Safford. The menu has expanded since my last visit. The have an appetizer section now with a cold seafood platter as their special dish. Well, one might wonder cold fresh seafood in the middle of a desert? Nah! I will stick to the beef! This visit, the aroma of mesquite from the open grill was enough to want me to eat every beef dish on the menu. The seasoning was non-existent/bad, they did not cook it properly, no flavor even though they say it is cooked over mesquite. The rolls taste like Walmart bakery rolls. So my group rode down the Devils Canyon with a plan to stay in Safford for the night. We were told that Copper Steer Steakhouse was the place to go. We made reservations for 8:00. When we got there the girl at the front said "I'm sorry but we can't seat you". We told them that we had reservations for 8:00. The girl told us she was gonna speak with a manager about that. When she returned she said that they wouldn't be able to seat us till 8:15. Ok cool, so we waited. At 8:17 she said that we could go upstairs to be seated (not sure why we couldn't do that from the beginning). As soon as we got up stairs the lady said "we can't accommodate your party of 9", but they said they can seat us downstairs. We went downstairs and the host and a few other girls set up some tables for the group........but.............they left us there standing without a mention about sitting us. One section of the table was still not ready for us so we didn't seat ourselves. At this point they were all just ignoring our group, so we left. We ended up going to JD's grill house down the road and they didn't ignore us, sat us right Away and food was phenomenal. So will we roll by this spot again (copper steer steak house)? What a disappointment! Our dinner out tonight was awful. My opinion is they need to hire help that knows how to cook. My ribs were burned black and dry; the potato was undercooked as was the green beans. My hubby ordered the Rib eye steak medium and ended up bringing most of it home for the dogs because it was to tough to chew! We got there early, happy to see our table was ready. Past reviews weren't good but we heard the place went through a 'restaurant rescue'. That gave us hope. But nothing went well. Two and a half hours, yes, 2 1/2 hour evening is CRAZY and inexcusable. Took Forever To Get Any Service DRINKS (45 minutes till everyone had something), FOOD (over an hour AFTER drinks), SERVICE, all was just so chaotic/disorganized. Staff running around like headless chickens. People were waiting to be seated. Later I noticed those same people leaving with take home boxes AND we hadn't even gotten our food. That means they waited for a table, were seated, drinks given, orders taken, meals served, bill provided and paid, ALL WHILE WE SAT WAITING FOR FOOD. It's not like the menu is complicated. Protein, fries or mash potatoes, asparagus or brussel sprouts. Really a simple meal with side dishes easily prepared. Ribs probably already cooked finished on the grill (btw, 3 people ordered, inconsistent results. One plate tender meat, 2 others over cooked and dry). And we went there for the ribs. Disappointing. Steaks cooked to order, 3 sirloins, 2 filets. On that grill it's not a hour and a half to cook our order. Somethings just not right at this place. Don't give the excuse we were a large party. It's more like 2 table orders. The whole crew were friendly and showed a willingness. Really the staff needs training. Basic food service training. Cook staff needs a production system. First night open after closures due to corona virus. Dinner was very good. Chicken fried pork chop, steaks with the fixings, very good. A bit slow but I'm sure after being closed for a time, "everyone" needs to get back into their groove. Spacing for tables and booths was great. Holy cow, where do I start? I came here a few years ago with a co-worker and thought I would revisit and that is where I messed up. Arrived at 7:10pm, was seated right away and my drink order was taken by the hostess. So far, so good. I ordered my food a few minutes later (chicken breast. Nothing fancy) and witnessed a nearly empty restaurant take over an hour to NOT bring me my food. Waitress refilled my ice tea three times and then never came back. Since I had ice tea and rolls, I left 5 dollars and as I walked out, they literally said "Thanks for coming!". They even assumed after an hour I had been fed. Completely unacceptable by any means. COVID or not. Not a single mask worn in the restaurant, so COVID cannot be an excuse. read more

Stopped here on a business trip with a co-worker who frequents the area. The restaurant didn't disappoint. I had steak the night before somewhere else, so tried the Vaquero Burger, which comes with green chile, jalapeños and pepper jack. I added bacon and it was awesome. The burger came with seasoned fries, which were ok. As an app we tried the stuffed jalapeños, which comes wrapped in bacon. Those were good, but left us fighting over the last one (the order comes with 3). However, the winner of the visit was the Mesquite Grilled Steak Salad with the chipotle dressing. I ordered this to go and saved for lunch the next day. This thing was da bomb! It came with four long pieces of tender steak, cooked to order, served on mixed greens.
